About this house rental

The property is set over four floors and combines charming historic features with contemporary interiors. As you walk in, there’s a hallway with space to leave shoes and coats, before heading into the recently refurbished sitting room. Wooden floors and sash windows create a light and welcoming space for families and friends to unwind together, and there’s a log burner that’s perfect for warming up on winter evenings whilst chatting away or watching the TV.

Downstairs on the lower ground floor you will find a modern kitchen, with a large dining table for convivial mealtimes and an electric flame effect log burner nestled into a historic fireplace. Glass doors lead out onto the terrace which offers glimpses of the river, bringing in that fresh sea air on sunny days or letting in lots of light whatever the weather. There's an outside table that can accommodate 7. Off the kitchen there is also a separate utility room with a washer, dryer and space to leave wet swimwear, and there’s a downstairs cloakroom with basin and WC as well.

Spread across the first and second floors you will find three bedrooms. On the first floor, the master bedroom has a super king-sized bed, and the second bedroom has king-sized double. On the third floor you will find a ‘triple’ which has a double bed (king-size zip/link - can be twin on request) and a single bed. There are also two bathrooms - one on the second floor has a bath and hand-held shower as well two separate sinks, while the second floor has a shower room with basin and WC.

There’s a snug, which is perfect for kids to relax. Outside, there’s the terrace that leads out from the kitchen. It offers charming views of the River Dart and is equipped with a table and four chairs for alfresco dining. The property comes with a free private parking space (these come at a premium in Dartmouth), although it’s a short walk up a steep hill from the house so you may want to unpack before parking the car. There are also sometimes roadside spaces on Jawbones Hill.

This property welcomes up to two well behaved dogs and is perfect for someone looking to explore the town easily.

Recommended for: Regatta House is perfect for families who want to be in the heart of it all, or for a few friends who want easy access to the cafes and restaurants. It's also a perfect location for walkers and dog owners.

Favourite feature: The property has charming views of the River Dart and is perfectly located for stepping out the front door and walking straight into town to see the shops and restaurants or hop on the ferry to Kingswear.

Need to know: Parking comes at a premium in Dartmouth, making the free allocated off-street parking space a real asset for guests. It should be noted that as the property is spread over four floors it isn’t ideal for anyone with mobility issues.

About a holiday in Dartmouth

On the mouth of the River Dart, Dartmouth’s history dates back to 1086 and weaves across the centuries as a port down brimming with intrigue. From piracy to smuggling and literary inspiration, it even warranted a mention in Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales. Today Dartmouth is famous for its annual Royal Regatta, naval college, colourful harbour and culinary delights. From buzzing pubs under Tudor beams to fishing, sailing and adventuring to the historic castle and pretty local beaches - Dartmouth is a fantastic base for a holiday in South Devon.

Please note that the property is located on a very steep hill in Dartmouth and the elderly/those with mobility issues will find the short walk from town difficult.

We enjoyed a lovely week in this beautiful house. Stunning views of Dartmouth. Up a steep hill but worth it for the views.

For a last minute holiday, this was ok. We asked to cancel as our daughter was poorly, but were told we couldnt due to cleaners being booked etc which was fair enough. Unfortunately though, it was clear on arrival that a quick clean had been performed. I think for the amount of money charged, you should not be able to find dog hairs all over the sofas and rugs, suspicious brown marks on furnishings and floors, hair and didt and dust in the cutlery drawer and a bit of sausage in the nespresso pod pot!!! When i reported this to the holiday host company, they were not the kindest and almost implied we may have caused this ourselves. It was very sad. We rebooked another house in the end and was glad to leave. The windows kept banging in the wind, which we found out at 3am. Also the garden is hugely overgrown and unable to see anything. The view from the window seat was pleasant. Also this is not a few houses from the corner of jawbone hill, it is a little way down and very steep. Handmarks/grubby marks on painted doors and walls. I think if you have a large family, its ok. It is a huge house. Price is for size but certainly not clean. Such a shame
