About this cottage rental
As you pull into the driveway alongside the old cream stone farmhouse, Little Coach House is on your left-hand side. Beyond lie pretty gardens and an orchard, and then the open countryside. This is a lovely, rural setting where you are surrounded by countryside yet have a wealth of attractions within easy reach.
Bi-fold doors to both the living room and kitchen can be folded back to create a feeling of space and let the fresh, country air flow through. Exposed stone walls and timber beams feature throughout complemented by beautiful soft furnishings, vibrant pops of colour and a rustic, elegant design. There's a pretty bedroom with a king-size bed on the ground floor and a quirky and cute twin room, which is perfect for younger guests, on the first floor along with a very stylish bathroom. Underfloor heating keeps you warm and cosy during the winter months, during the warmer days throw open the doors and retreat to the patio, where you can relax under the shady pergola.
Little Coach House sits within the grounds of Rectory Farm House and guests have shared use of the lovely farmhouse gardens. Enjoy a few games of croquet or just sit amongst the flowers and soak in the peace and tranquillity. To one side of the coach house is a private patio and BBQ.
Ground Floor
Living Room:
Large bi-fold doors open to a cosy, stylish living room. The exposed stone walls, statement chandelier, colourful rugs and super-comfy velvet corner sofa create a welcoming place to relax after a day of exploring. Elegant lamps sit on small wooden side tables at either end of the sofa and cast a gentle glow over the room. The smart TV is wall-mounted to save on space. A beautifully crafted wooden staircase rises to the first floor, whilst on the left-hand side is a ground floor bedroom.
Kitchen:
From the living room walk through to the modern kitchen, a clever layout designed to make maximum use of the space available. A stainless steel unit houses a two-ring electric hob and stove, along with the sink and under counter fridge. The glass splashback reveals the beautiful stone wall. A bistro-style table seats four comfortably on high stools creating the perfect spot for lazy breakfasts and evening meals. As with the living room, large bi-fold doors open to the courtyard creating a feeling of space and bringing the outside in.
There's also a handy W.C to the rear of the kitchen complete with bookshelves for some ‘me time' reading and a large mirror.
Bedroom One:
This pretty room is decorated with delicate pale-yellow wallpaper, a deep-set window to the front adds to the light, airy feel. There's an original brick fireplace (not in use) with a stunning feather wreath and an extremely comfortable iron-framed king-size bed. The size of the bed does mean it can really only be accessed from one side, however, the comfort of it more than makes up for any slight inconvenience with accessibility! Reading lights are attached to each side of the bed head, there's also an occasional chair and an antique chest of drawers with a large mirror over.
First Floor
A narrow, quite steep staircase leads to the first floor galleried landing. This spacious area has a wooden chest stacked with books, a fun faux zebra print rug and a velvet occasional chair.
Bedroom Two:
Cute, quirky, and colourful is the best way to describe this twin-bedded room, which is perfect for children or teenagers. A fabulous vibrant printed wallpaper makes a real statement as do the ornate mirror and console table. The room is in the eaves and a Velux window (with a blind to avoid early morning sunrises) can be opened for fresh air. You'll find storage in the pull-out drawers under each bed, there are reading lights on either side of the beds and a colourful rug sits on the polished wooden floor
Bathroom / Shower Room:
This stunning bathroom features a wonderful standalone bathtub (large enough for 2), with a rainfall shower over, handbasin and WC as well as mood lighting. A vivid splash of colour comes from the unique wallpaper.
Outside
To the side of the property is a stone patio covered by a wooden pergola, which is swathed in summer jasmine. The wooden picnic bench is a peaceful spot for evening drinks or alfresco dining and there's a brick-built charcoal BBQ for use too. If the weather is being kind, you can relax and soak up the sunshine on one of the reclining sun loungers.
The owners allow guests to use the rest of the pretty, flower-filled gardens and there is plenty of space to relax, there's even a croquet set if you're in the mood for genteel afternoon games. The large field is perfect for impromptu cricket or football matches and there's a tree-filled orchard, with access to the countryside beyond. The village pub is a short walk away as is the farm shop and café, which are owned by your hosts at Little Coach House.

We booked this place only for a couple of nights as we needed somewhere to stay whilst i attended a local hospital. The property itself is nicely renovated, keeping old features of the barn with modern heating and bathroom etc which was lovely. Checkin was easy and the owners were nearby if needed but not intrusive.
Nice big sofa and clean everywhere, nice bath and underfloor heating. The surrounding area is lovely, and I imagine if we attended during a time where the whole country wasnt flooded, the walks immediately off the property would have been really nice too.
My only little gripe is that they charge extra for dogs, then when you get there have loads of rules regarding dogs and saying extra will be charged if theyve got evidence theyve gone on the sofa etc. It wasnt a problem for us, and the owners didnt say anything about the dogs, it could be that letting company they use have these general rules, but it just makes you feel a bit on edge the whole time if you have dogs and makes you feel like theyre not overly welcome.
Again, thats just from the extensive rules rather than the owners themselves. We had a brief chat with the lady owner (sorry i cant remember your name) and she was pleasant and inviting, so its not a reflection on them. And they do have an outside warm tap which is really handy for washing down dogs. They did also say we can take the dogs on a walk around their pick your own fruit area if we wanted which was nice and welcoming. 5 stars, rexommend

The Little Coach House is perfectly located in a lovely village with everything you need within walking distance - The Talkhouse pub serving excellent food, especially the vegan pie! ; great village shop and excellent farm shop - plus beautiful country walks, yet only 10 mins from the Thornhill Park & Ride for easy access to Oxford and all the city has to offer. The cottage is lovingly and thoughtfully maintained by Carla and her team with all one could need for a comfortable stay plus welcome goodies including fresh milk from their farm shop - we felt at home immediately, a fantastic place to relax and enjoy some family time, thank you Carla.

We’ve always loved Stanton St John and this was our first stay. Still loving Stanton St John. Our accomodation was just right for us, being a beautiful building, very neat and tidy and well equiped. Loving the stone walls and doors and stairs that are in keeping with the sense of history. Couldn’t get better parking in this small village, than provided by the Little Coach House.
Can’t praise the village or the Little Coach House enough.

Peaceful getaway
Our family of four enjoyed this peaceful spot outside of the city. Was a great little escape and place to relax. Very comfortable cottage and lovely hosts. Having the farm store a short walk made our stay even sweeter. Wish we could have stayed another day!

This was a lovely stay in Stanton Saint John!
The cottage is clean, very nicely decorated and has enough space for 4 people. It was so nice to be able to use the garden in the summer weather on lazy days. Otherwise use the bus for a trip to Oxford or London.
The Rectory Farm shop is very close and offers very fresh fruit and veg. You can even pick your own strawberries etc. We loved our stay in Oxfordshire. THANK YOU! Would absolutely recommend.

What a wondeful place!
We loved the Little Coach House. The cottage is beautiful, comfortable, furnished to high standards and with great taste, airy, bright and so well designed that it feels really spacious (even if it is small). Our two daughters adored having exclusive use the second floor bedroom and the mezzanine adjacent to it (with lots of games in the stylish trunk) as well as the playground just around the corner and the farm shop just a short stroll away. There is lots to visit in easy reach from the cottage. Last, but not least, Carla and Richard, the owners, are discreet but not far if you need help. Well, we needed help because we had a problem with our car...and they went out of their way to help us in all possible ways and literally saved our holiday. We cannot be thankful enough to them nor recommend this property warmly enough.
