About this house rental
Located minutes from downtown historic Seneca Falls, the Petit Retreat might just be the cutest cottage on Cayuga Lake! Ideal for a couple's getaway or a family of four, this little gem runs right along the Cayuga Lake Wine Trail. When you arrive, you will be drawn to the freshly updated exterior and the brand-new decks overlooking the lake, a perfect spot to enjoy a bottle of Finger Lakes wine and toast to the beginning of your getaway!
Once inside this cozy retreat, all your cares will wash away. The floor plan design is perfectly planned out for maximizing space! With the lake shining through the windows, you'll have great views from every angle of this cottage.
A newly renovated, open modern galley kitchen offers all the cookware needed for a perfect meal created from local ingredients. Off the kitchen, the living and dining area are equally as lovely and comfortable. You can settle in either of the bedrooms, one a king and the other a queen, each with their own bathroom. There are two brand new spacious outdoor decks and a Florida porch, all of which are conducive to Finger Lakes Dreaming.
Now about this lake. It is rumored, and we believe it might be true, that right off your own 25 foot private dock is the best swimming spot on the whole lake! Sunset paddle anyone? The Petit Retreat offers two single kayaks exclusively for your use to enjoy the clear and calm Cayuga Lake. The dock also comes equipped with cleats from which you can moor your small craft.
Among the many indoor amenities include two Smart TV's, family favorite board games, a Wifi speaker for enjoying your own playlists and even an acoustic guitar for those musicians among you.
Should you decide to leave the Retreat, about a half mile down the road is the Cayuga Lake State Park, which is known for amazing birding, fishing and swimming. The park includes a boat launch, swimming beach and playground. Afterwards be sure to swing by local favorite Wolfy's Grill and Marina for a Finger Lakes craft beer and their famous Bang Bang Shrimp!
Historic Seneca Falls is also a town fit for foodies. A list of local recommendations are available in the cottage guest book, including some delicious finds in other neighboring towns. A bonus if you are in the mood, you will not be far from the Waterloo Outlet Mall and the Del Lago Casino and Resort.
Below Deck: Please watch your head when using the stairs leading from the living room down to what we refer as "Below Deck"- which is where you will find the spacious 2 bedroom and Florida porch. If you prefer not to use the rather steep stairs, we highly recommend accessing the bedroom by walking alongside the house and entering through the porch.

Petit Retreat is an excellent lake house for 2. Well decorated for lake life, bright and cheery. Very clean and well appointed with every thing you may need including 2 kayaks and life vests. The 2 outdoor decks are very nice especially to watch sunrises and the sunroom off of the lower bedroom is also well appointed and nice for inclement days. The only downfall is the steps to the lower bed/bath. Duck and go slow! Overall, excellent.

We absolutely love this house! It was the perfect size for our three person family. The air-conditioning were great, the window blinds were great to block the morning sun, the stove, microwave, and coffee pot all worked great! We got a little welcome bag that had everything we need to get us started like a sponge, dish soap, paper towels, toilet paper. The deck and patio were fantastic! The yard furniture was very comfortable and perfect for our stay.

What a cute bungalow on Lake Cayuga. Loved the views and location. Updated amenities with a lovely kitchen, baths and seating area. We loved sitting on the lower level sun room. The only negative was the stairs to the lower level which were very steep and tight. However, everything else was perfect!

The house was perfect. It was the perfect size for my family and our dog. I’d absolutely recommend this property!

My family (me, husband, 7 yo, 9 yo, dog) stayed at Petit Retreat for an extended weekend (6/14-6/17). The property is adorable. Perfect size for us! The kitchen is well equipped. I made breakfast each day and cooked dinner once. They had everything I needed. Heads up that it gets very warm, very quickly inside when using the oven. We used the grill and it worked (unlike many other rentals we’ve done over the years). Some info we received said to bring linens/towels but all those items were present for us. We did bring beach towels and are glad we did. The location is perfect! Our sons literally ran right to the dock on arrival and dropped lines. They spent a LOT of their time there and caught fish within 10 minutes of starting. We used the kayaks as well and they loved that! I didn’t do 5 stars on cleanliness for minor issues. The coffee pot was literally reading that it needed to be cleaned and inside the water reservoir there was a thick layer of scum. There were a lot of gnats (to be expected when staying on a lake) but the dead ones were layered on windowsills, the kitchen chairs and other areas. Our kids found a full beer can on the porch on arrival day. Ultimately minor issues and attributed to cleaning staff, not the home or home owners. Property management said late check out was possible and to call before check in to be sure, upon calling we were told that was basically impossible to ever do. Big discrepancy on their end as late check out was very important to us.

Even though the cottages are close together, it was very quiet and relaxing. We will definitely be back to this area!

The house is small, hence why it is named"Petit Retreat". My husband and I stayed for a week while I attended a quilting workshop at Wells College. It is nicely decorated and very clean and well appointed. The view of the lake is lovely. There is a Mennonite market about 15 minutes away.
Unlike staying near an ocean or bay where you hear the sound of the wind and water, lakes by their nature are quiet. As a result, sound travels far and the houses are very close together so you can hear conversations from other homes even when people are talking in a normal tone. That being said, the neighbors are very considerate and you have to be as well.
If you mind having homes in close proximity this is not the house for you. It was very quiet and having central air conditioning in the hotter weather made our stay comfortable and relaxing.

I stayed here for a long weekend with two girlfriends for a girls get away. This property has lots of potential but you can tell that things have not been managed properly and the listing is very vague in expectations. Upon entering the home, not only were all the windows unlocked, but there was a very terrible sewage and moldy smell. That smell became worse when you descend the VERY narrow and dangerous stairs to the basement area which serves as the second bedroom. We did not feel safe staying down there when it smelled of recent water damage. Further, the property gloats of their all-season "Florida Room" (another fancy name for a screened in lower porch area). However, ALL of the outdoor furniture was smashed and thrown into the corner of the room deeming it unusable space. Why would you store the outdoor furniture in a useable room for guests instead of having it covered outside or in a shed/storage area? Not to mention the Screen porch room looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months. Human hair, dust, dead bugs, etc. My girlfriends and I only used the main level with one person sleeping on the couch. There are a list of other grievances (like a broken chair) that would have been manageable but the fact that the property did not seem to be taken care of made those small issues magnified. Further, the host was very unhelpful when I was asking for recommendations. Providing one word responses and NO guidance whatsoever. I think all of these factors just prove that management companies, like Finger Lakes Premier Properties, do not provide that 1:1 attention to the actual properties or their guests using them.

Stayed for a long weekend, had everything we needed. We did not use the kitchen but it would have been perfect to cook a meal. Great views, loved the kayaks and dock, close to Seneca Falls and wineries. Extra blankets for cool nights, games for families to play, guitar was fun to play! Would definitely come back and stay again!

Beautiful cabin right on the water. Accommodations were well appointed and very comfortable, and also located very near towns with everything one might need. Cannot recommend this particular cabin highly enough.

house was great and so was the area!
The property and amenities were wonderful. For those looking to enjoy the wineries be warned, almost everything closes around 5PM.

Peace and Tranquillity!
Loved our recent stay at Petite Retreat. It is a small house, but it doesn’t feel small! Spent most of my time there on the screened in porch. So relaxing with my morning coffee and happy hour cocktail! We were lucky to not have any neighbors during our stay so we had a lot of privacy when outside as the houses are very close together. The house is beautifully decorated, the beds were comfortable, and the kitchen was well equipped for having meals at home. There are not a lot of options close by for groceries or takeout which was a little annoying. Stopped at some great wineries/breweries a short drive from the house. It was so nice to be able to use the kayaks and life preservers at the house. Everything was in great condition. Bumped our heads more than a couple of times on our way down to the master bedroom, but that was a small price to pay for such a lovely stay! Master bedroom was also a little on the damp side, but I definitely wouldn’t let that deter you. Everything else about the place makes up for it!!

Darling Property, a little challenging using the lower level bedroom
Charming cottage! Very clean with a beautiful view of the lake. Our only issue was accessing the lower-level bedroom. My husband is 6'3" and he did not like ducking to that degree going to bed at night. Your listing should probably note that It is not a good fit for tall people. This was our only issue with the cottage.

Petite Retreat
Quaint home right on the lake. It was absolutely beautiful! We loved our stay. I just wish there was an umbrella or covering on the deck.

Great stay and beautiful property right in the lake.
We had a great time at the petite retreat. Great accommodations and very clean with perfect lake views and location. We missed not having a dock for our boat but we’re able to park our boat and trailer at the state park less then a 1/4 mile from the house and launch every day. But other then that this place had all the amenities that we wanted and really did not need to bring that much extra supplies with us. My husband and our friends enjoyed fishing right off the deck and caught quite a few bass. It was a beautiful weekend! I would definitely stay there again!
