About this cabin rental

The Old Fashioned Suite is a quaint cottage on the shores of Lake Michigan. The main room is an old log cabin. We remodeled this comfortable space into the main living area with a wood-burning fireplace, bathroom, and laundry accommodations.

Added to the front of the cabin are a new kitchen, counter for cooking/eating, and dining area. Above the living area is a roomy loft with bunk beds. Facing the lake, at the back of the cabin, is a bright and sunny sitting room with a pull-out sofa and a master bedroom with a queen-size bed.

A spacious deck faces the lake and provides a porch swing and umbrella-topped table and chairs for open-air dining. Adirondack chairs surround a large fire pit near the shoreline. Sunrises and moon showers can often be seen.

It is fun to see the large ships and sailboats as you enjoy the sight and sounds of the waves. The nearby ship canal and the Land Trust have many hiking trails and there are several sandy beaches that are accessible by foot, bike, or car. The property is located in a secluded setting far off the main road making it a wonderful quiet escape to enjoy campfires, swimming, and outside activities.

It was a great place to relax and enjoy the lakeside. We had awesome bonfires right by the lake shore. It was my 2 kids and wife that stayed. The cabin was perfect. Nice kitchen for those that want to stay in and cook. The bed was very comfortable and the place is very clean. I would stay here again in any time. Great north woods feel.

Extremely nice property and location. Gorgeous inside and it was right on Lake Michigan like the description said. Couldn’t believe everything that they had for us already. We really didn’t have to bring anything extra except our clothes. Will definitely stay here again and tell others about it. And the host was very nice and responded quickly to your texts.

My sister and I booked our stay here for our mom's 83rd birthday and we all immensely enjoyed our stay. The cabin is clean and homey and has everything you could possibly need for your stay. My mom did struggle with the step up between the kitchen and rest of the cabin as her eyesight/depth perception is a little tricky sometimes. But we solved that by putting 2 stools there with the provided little lanterns and that seemed to work. The overall property is beautiful and the area is quiet. This was exactly what we were looking for. Far enough from town to be peaceful, but close enough so we could head in whenever we wanted.

We were in Door County for a wedding at Baileys Harbor..which left little time to enjoy the cabin/house...Also, weather (3 days of rain), lake attitude (dead fish time with flies...no one's fault!!!) did not cooperate but we did appreciate the setting & comfort. Overall, we were extremely pleased with our stay!!!!

We had a wonderful weekend. The cottage was perfect and wonderfully stocked. We loved the wood burning fireplace and used it each night since it was chilly outside. The view was beautiful of the lake!

My husband and I enjoyed our stay so much. The cabin is beautiful and the outdoor space is a dream. We got up early for beautiful sunrises each morning. Kitchen was well stocked and thoughtful touches throughout.

No one around us except builders next door for 2 days. Quiet, full of nature. Any stores or restaurants are a good 15/20 minutes away, so we suggest getting basic food, charcoal and sundries prior for first night/morning. No central heat but heaters and fans in every room...We did not need either the full 3rd week in Sept. - wonderful breeze. House well stocked with linens and the hide-a bed was the FIRST one we've slept on that was comfortable!!! Need App for TV channels.

The cabin is exactly as described online. It is an old cabin. Therefore, there will be a couple of cobwebs, but overall the cabin was very clean. Located in a very quiet wooded area right on the lake. Really enjoyed the large lawn for the kids to run around on. The beach consists of crushed shells, which my kids were amazed with! Our kids also loved all the kid friendly touches in the cabin, from the dvds, books, and games to the wooden Noah's Ark. There was no heat, but the cabin stayed pretty warm throughout the night. Did use the space heater for a little bit downstairs. The kids stayed plenty warm in the loft. Overall, it was a great weekend stay!

Our second stay at the Old Fashioned Suite, but certainly won’t be our last. The old fashioned suite is a wonderful mix of the old classic log house, but with all the updates and additions to make it modern and comfortable. Being right on the lake is so peaceful and beautiful. Had a great week - we’ll be back!

We have been coming to Door County for over 20 years and usually rent in the Fish Creek to Bailey's Harbor area. This was our first time near Sturgeon Bay. The Cottage was very nice and the view of Lake Michigan was great. The Sturgeon Bay area has plenty of attractions and good restaurants. The Cottage was cozy and comfortable. Our hosts Sandy and Art were great neighbors and we enjoyed meeting them.

The house location was great we have bomb fires almost every night. The breeze coming from the lake was very nice and cool. The house could use a deep clean and the back screen did not stay on the door so we could leave the door opened. We would stay there again everything was nice. The loft bedroom could use a different type of bed. The cute baby bed was only good for our luggage, A twin or even a full bed would be better.

The lake view is amazing! We loved being on the lake. The kids swam right at the property and the public beach that is about a mile away. There was also a nature preserve with trails for my boys to run. It was close to Sturgeon Bay yet remote and peaceful. We saw a fawn when we pulled up. There is a nice fire ring and wood was provided. We met the owner at the fire one night and he was very nice and accommodating. The loft area worked great for my teenagers and tween. There was definitely enough room for all five of us. The bed in the bedroom is really soft and saggy which would be my only complaint. My husband slept on the pull out couch because we both rolled in the middle of the bed. All in all we enjoyed our stay very much!

This property was super clean and more beautiful than the pictures. I couldn’t believe we had a view of the lake from the tv room. At night you can hear the waves roaring, it was amazing. The host always replied super fast and was very friendly. I will definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet beachfront cabin. Loved it!

I would highly recommend the Old Fashioned Suite to anyone looking to visit Sturgeon Bay. This cabin has had a lot of love put into it. Very clean and perfectly decorated. The sunrises and lake views can't be beat.

Wonderful cabin right on Lake Michigan. Early mornings were fantastic with the sunrise. Deer in the yard and just a relaxing week and much needed. The washer and dryer were a nice touch too.

My husband and I have been coming to Door County for over 20 years and this was our favorite place we have ever stayed. We loved the quiet setting, the comfortable cottage, the extra large fire pit. We saw deer and eagles as we sat by the lake. We cannot wait to come back again very soon.

We just spent a week at the old fashioned suite, and it was magical. The cottage is very comfortable and convenient, but the highlight is being right on the lake. The deck has a great view, and we also spent a lot of time right down by the lake – the sunrise and moonrise was spectacular! Sandy and Michelle are great hosts. We will definitely be returning.

This location is really special. We collected rocks on the shore and waded into the water, relaxed indoors and cooked a little, played cards and walked along the peaceful wooded roads. Kids loved the loft and the wi-fi! Can't wait to return to this charming and comfortable place.

We had such a relaxing and wonderful time at your place! Beautiful decor and very peaceful. Reasonable price for being right on Lake Michigan. Enjoyed the sunrise every morning, site seeing during the day and relaxing in the evenings by the fire pit! Great location to town. Instructions were clearly given and questions responded to quickly. One of the most relaxing times we have had in years! Hopefully we will be back soon! Hopper family.

We loved our stay. Loved the sign-in book from previous renters, with tips of places and sites to visit. Already had a full agenda going in, but it was nice to hear what others enjoyed. Just wish the extra sleeping area/bed in the loft was a full size.

We had a wonderful time. The cabin was perfect. The pictures online don’t do it justice. We enjoyed everything door county has to offer everyday then retreated to the cabin every evening. Everything we needed was provided and Sandy and Michelle answered any questions we had. We will definitely stay here again.

Most mornings we watched a spectacular sun rise. Every night a fire in the fire pit watching waves hit the shore. Very cozy cabin with everything you will need supplied to us. Was worried about not having air conditioning in summer, but temps do drop and every room has ceiling fans, along with floor fans. We slept comfortably.

This was the second time we stayed at The Old Fashioned Suite. We returned because we loved everything about the cottage and it's location. It is right on Lake Michigan ! The cottage is as pictured and it's secluded location is the perfect place to relax and unwind. The owners were helpful and friendly. We will be back.
