The Space
A perfect relaxing beach retreat; the Townhouse has 3 bedrooms, 2 baths and 1 half bath. It is just a 0.6 mile walk to Beacon's Beach and 1.4 miles to Moonlight Beach. The front and backyard are perfect for families with a fully secure jacuzzi, and a turf front yard with a hammock (fully fenced). The home has been completely remodeled inside. Including AC!
The home includes one driveway parking spot along with ample street parking. In addition, there are 4 soft boogie boards, two beach cruiser bikes, beach chairs, a pop-up beach tent, a wagon, beach toys, beach towels, pack and play crib and a high chair. If a 9th person wants to sleep on the couch, that is also an option. The entire home is very nicely furnished and well outfitted for our guests.
The area is the quintessential 1960's beach town, with modern splashes of luxury and tons of eclectic soul. The cliffs at Beacons Beach boast views of the entire coastline and the stairs that lead down to world class, Beacons Beach. The home is also just blocks away from several great places to eat or have a drink.
Further, it is a short walk to Coast Highway where you will find unique boutiques, phenomenal Mexican food, local coffee houses, antique stores, a new and used record store, and so much more! Stroll down a little further on the weekends and stop by the Seaside Bazaar, North County's only open-air market. At night, enjoy home cooking in your beach close rental, or check out one of the local neighborhood restaurants such as Le Papagayo, a small eclectic restaurant offering amazing food, drinks and live entertainment. Or maybe you would enjoy Saint Archer, a brewery offering some of San Diego's finest brews.
Historic Coast Highway also just blocks away, is home to trendy restaurants, chic boutiques and art studios - great for walking around in the sunshine. The Old Coast Highway continues south through Old Encinitas, through the heart of our lost-in-time 'old downtown' - right past Swami's Beach. Legoland is only a 10 min drive (about 6 miles) and we are about a 30 min drive to Sea World and the San Diego International Airport. The San Diego Botanical Gardens are 2.5 miles away and is a very beautiful place to visit.

We had such a nice time staying at this place. The host was incredible, and the place was incredibly clean. Great place for couples to hang out at, there were three of us couples in our fifties, and we had a blast. Easy walk to the train station, an easy walk to downtown. Would definitely stay there again.

Very comfortable space to enjoy the beach town of Leucadia. Close to the beach and restaurants. We enjoyed ourselves really good communication with the property owner and I would highly recommend.

Beachy hideaway.
Such a great hidden gem! Dona was a great host. Efficient and easy check-in. It’s a cosy and clean cottage tucked away half mile from the steps at Beacons beach. Really magical.

Clean and comfortable getaway
We wanted somewhere we could be comfortable hanging out in our PJs and gabbing, and this place was perfect. It's a beautiful home with all the furnishings—the kitchen had everything we needed!—and there are nice views from both patios. The hot tub was nice, and the host was very responsive when I had a question about it.

Great Vacation!
Great place! Our family had a fantastic stay at Dona’s Tropical Paradise and would definitely stay there again.
Pros
- Dona was extremely quick in answering questions both before and during the trip.
- The house was clean, had a great layout for a family (everyone could congregate in the living room or do their own thing comfortably and not disturb others), and was equipped with everything you need (beach towels, kitchen supplies, coffee pods - even a kid playhouse).
- The hot tub and ping pong table were GREAT after running around all day and wanting a low key evening.
- We mostly ordered delivery for dinner and there were lots of great options nearby.
Cons
- There is some train noise. While the house is not overly close to the track, our son had a bit of trouble falling asleep. It was not loud enough to wake anyone once they were asleep.
- Getting to Beacon’s beach was a bit trickier than other places we have stayed. There is not a sidewalk the whole way so you need to hug the side of the road as there was not much of a shoulder. Since it was winter we didn’t haul beach stuff back and forth, but it would have been a challenging walk if we had all the usual gear (towels, sand toys, etc.). It was fun to watch the surfers though.
