The owner sent us a questionnaire about the cleanliness of the place as soon as we checked in which I appreciate. We did not get to fill it out, as we were in a hurry. That was great that they show concern over that. This is Corpus Christi so expect the weather to be very humid and windy and sandy, and some of that comes into the beach housing. It's a fun choice if you want to stay by Bob Hall Pier and there is a convenient grocery less than a mile away. There is an HEB less than a 15 mile drive to the house, too.

Good location to beach, staff quick to reply and helpful. Easy to get to. Private parking for this condo.

The crab shack was clean and very cute! The beds were comfortable and there was plenty of bath towels and they also provided lots of beach towels . It was right next to the pool and right across from the beach! There are no beach chairs though so bring your own.

Great place. Plenty of room for 6 of us (could have fit more) with beds for 2 couples and 2 singles. Nice pool and close to the beach (6 minute walk if you're 77). Legal beach parking if you have the permit ($12/yr last year).
VACASA is short handed so don't expect serve on weekends. Esp holiday. Cheap silverware (tinware) and drawers were disorganized. Showers and tubs drain very slow. Need maintenance. Wall hangings need better mounts. Our 2 year old almost got hit by one.

A little dirty, not a lot of extras. We had to buy some bedding to make it comfortable for sleep. Good location, good communication, easy check in and check out.

This was a spacious nice beach townhome with great amenities & location. Many steep stairs to second floor so not recommended for elderly or handicapped. Floors were VERY sandy and gritty and sheets in one room were not clean, but overall nice. Check-in was a nightmare! Provided me with incorrect unit! Then none of the three key codes would access the unit which freaked me out. Door to first room had broken hardware as well but we managed. Otherwise nice place,

Loved the living/kitchen area! Perfect for 3 couples. The back patio is by the pool. We pretty much stayed by or in the pool. Can’t wait to go again!!!

Fan in family room not working and in 100 degree weather it would have helped a lot. Ants in the main bath/bedroom. Smoke alarm going off at 5:00 AM and being told to change the battery with 10 foot ceilings and not my job! Patio left with another parties beach towels, a VERY broken umbrella and a table with curled up boards making for an unpleasant patio. It's a nice condo but needs maintenance. Just my opinion but too many decorations with very dusty fake trees that should not be there. The place mats should go as well, who knows whats on them since they are woven string/rope/cord.

We were very close to the beach and could overlook the water from the balcony. The location was very quiet and great for family and friends.

We loved our stay at the crab shack!
Pros- The pool is right out the back door and layout is roomy. The beds were very comfortable, linens were nice, kitchen was stocked with everything you will need to cook large family meals, bathrooms were stocked with lots of clean towels and even pool towels. There is a LARGE washer and dryer to clean clothes after a long day at the beach. The back porch made it SO convenient to wash and dry off our beach toys/towels/swimsuits. The decor makes you FEEL like you are at the beach!
Cons- We only had one trash bag for our three night stay. The air conditioner blew cool downstairs, but had difficulty cooling the top floor- think the vents need to be adjusted. The ceiling fans were very dusty and I think the cleaning crew has overlooked it.
Overall, we loved our stay here. We plan to book again!

Walking distance to Beach
Our only complaint was that the pool was not heated which would have been nice for the freakishly cold TX weather we experienced for spring break and the upstairs had a bit of an odd smell. Other than that, the beds were comfortable (important to use as we've stayed elsewhere in the vicinity with terrible mattresses), and the bunk bed was amazing for our kids. We loved that there was a table to sit down for meals as a family as well. The walking distance was decent. It gave us a chance to stretch our legs and get some bonus activity in as we walked to the beach.

We were very comfortable. The towels and sheets in excellent condition. Everything was very clean. Very comfortable beds. Everything you need in the kitchen.
All perfect, I would only add as a plus for this accommodation that they add towels for the beach / pool and 2 or 4 chairs that you could take to the beach. If they add this it would be excellent. Thanks!

We had a wonderful stay in the Crab Shack unit itself. Fun and festive decor and plenty of room for 2 families with young children. They all shared the bunks and it worked out well for us. Unfortunately, the main downside was that the unit across from us had what appeared to be literally 20 people staying in it. They occupied the entire pool for 2 days straight, loud music, drinking and leaving behind a mess. We called twice to report that the trash cans at the pool were overflowing and they never got emptied all weekend. We had 5 children along and did not allow them to use the pool after our arrival Friday night, because it was overcrowded and dirty the remainder of the time. This is a Property management issue, not a Crab Shack issue, but felt we had to make mention.

The description didn't mention the 20stairs up to the bedrooms. I knew it was a 2 story but not expecting that. Our back door was right by the pool's edge which was great for the kids. We got a golf cart, ($400) to get to the beach. Description said walk to the beach. Checkout time was unreasonable, 10am, and we had to wash all of the towels, pack our food get an 8 & 5yo's up and ready to go. Way too early for what we were expected to do before checkout. I wouldn't recommend this because it wasn't worth the $. $1300.00 for 2 days. That's almost twice what they quoted when I went on their site. I got to spend time with my grandkids whom I hadn't seen in 3yrs. They had a ball. My son said I was hard to please but he forgets I'm 73yrs. old and walk with a cane.

We enjoyed staying at the Crab Shack! It was super comfortable and we felt at home and cozy. The house is set up really nice and we loved the layout. Our group was grandmas, moms and young children. Staying here helped make our trip great and a big success! We were able to visit the Texas State Aquarium, watched a sea turtle hatchling release, walked along the jetties to watch sea turtles and had 2 great days at really nice beaches (whitecap and malaquite). The only inconveniences we experienced were that we had to unclog the tub drain, which was draining very slowly when we arrived. Also, it seems that the pool was not cleaned often enough, as it got and stayed dirtier each day we were there. Other than these, the Crab Shack was perfect!

nicely decorated
Great property. Have stayed at several units and enjoyed all of them - but here comes the constructive criticism to make this a SUPER property:
#1: Master bed room door to the balcony is not sealing - causing the master bedroom to be very HOT! The whole condo can be freezing cold, and the master bedroom is easily 10 degrees warmer. You need to replace this door, and make sure the seal is secure - you'll thank me with your electric bill.
#2 - the bunkbeds needs better mattresses. Not all folks travel with small kids, and my adult kids gave a thumbs down to the mattress (Master mattress was comfortable).
#3 - glad to see HOA maintaining property!! When we arrived, the outdoor shower didn't work, the pool was very murkey, and the BBQ grills were completely rusted, During our stay, we saw the grills replaced, the shower fixed, and the pool guys there daily. Pool could still use some upkeep, but glad to see the maintenance.
#4 - didn't test the comfort of the sofa bed, but the sofa itself, was quite soft, and not comfortable (but looks nice).
Spend a little bit on some upgrades, and you will have rave reviews consistently!! #1 Fix is to replace the master bedroom balcony door!! We pay the big bucks for the master - we shouldn't be suffering in heat trying to get a good night's sleep!!
Otherwise - two thumbs up!!

Disappointed
This was our first time visiting this property. We have been to other properties in this area that are much better quality and much more comfortable. This condo is very small, much smaller than the pictures portray. The bedrooms and bathrooms are small. The beds are very uncomfortable. The air conditioning in the master does not put out very cold air making the room very stuffy. The smoke detector went off every morning. The dryer does not work well and the ice machine in the refrigerator constantly got stopped up. We could not get the satellite to work for several hours. The contact we had was not very helpful at all. Communication with the property management was terrible. We had people in the pool very loud and disruptive one night until 2am and another night until 4:45am. The posted pool hours were until 11pm. They were playing very loud music, screaming, and obviously very intoxicated. There is no on site property management which leaves no authority to enforce rules at this complex. The contact we had told us to call the authorities because there was nothing they could do. If you are traveling with children and your family I do not recommend this property it is not family friendly at all. We will not return. For the price there is much nicer accommodating locations available.

Great location! Pool is steps outside door!
I was asked by the rental company to leave a review in exchange for a $10 gift card. Below you will find my own opinions and review.
The location is great! We stayed over the 4th of July holiday. The home was clean and kitchen was well stocked. Here are the negatives. There was no communication on how the home is stocked. For example, do they have extra towels? Baby equipment? Extra bed linens? The answer is no. They did have the extra bed space but there were no extra blankets for us to use the beds. They were skimpy on the cleaning supplies. Lots of laundry needs to be done at a beach stay and there were not very many pods, same for the dishwasher. Also, someone left smelly chicken in the fridge.
Other than that, we really did have a nice stay. There were tvs in every room, the home was very clean and its really nice to have a pool and the beach access.

Nice
There were not enough towels. There was dog hair on the mattress pad of the trundle and the top sheets had not been changed (food crumbs in the sheets) other than that a very nice place.

Enjoyable stay
Overall very nice place -- location close to beach, pool was nice - very enjoyable! Only issue was found something left from a prior occupant that required law enforcement to come out and visit. Nothing to do with location/facility - it is great, just an oops by someone.

Our family had the best experience with Turnkey!
We had the best time with Turnkey at the CrabShack. Our kids enjoyed the short walk to the beach and the beach toys at the property we're an unexpected surprise! The children loved the pool and the pool toys were another unexpected surprise. We absolutely loved our stay and are currently trying to figure out when we can come back.

Beaches for miles
The condo was perfect for our family and we had a great time. It was so fun to have the pool right outside of the back gate. The view from the upstairs deck off the master bedroom is lovely, but that is the only view of the Gulf from the condo. The condo complex is built in such a way that there aren't large view windows in the units. I was guessing it was to make them a little more hurricane-proof.
There were sand toys, umbrellas, and a cooler to take to the beach on the back patio. We ended up buying some fishing rods to take our kids fishing and left them at the condo, so hopefully other families can use them. The condo is really close to plenty of restaurants, and there's an HEB grocery store and a CVS pharmacy not far away.
The beach was a little further away from the condo than I thought it would be, and we had to cross a busy road to get to the path, but it's not too far to walk. We only walked there once, though, because you can drive your vehicle onto Whitecap Beach, and it's only a couple of minutes away, so that's what we did the rest of the time. We were driving a minivan, and there were lots of small cars on the beach, too, because the sand is hard and you won't get stuck if you drive in the right areas. We didn't use the beach umbrellas after we figured out how to park and use the back lift gate on the minivan as a shade.
You need a four-wheel drive vehicle to go past the 5 mile marker on the beach at Padre Island National Shoreline, but we were able to drive our rental van to that point on the beach there, too. Next time we'll rent an SUV so we can drive all 60 miles.
The beaches go on forever and are beautiful and uncrowded. There aren't large areas of dry sand for beach volleyball (at least we didn't see any), but we had fun looking for sea glass, playing frisbee and kite flying when we weren't swimming or sunbathing. The beach on Padre Island was a little cleaner than Whitecap, but even that one was pretty clean. Such a lovely place to hang out with your kids!

Perfect size for 8. 2 families with small kids. Didn't think much of the pool on the listing but proved to be very clutch in transitioning to/from the beach. Decent walk to nice section of beach. Would rent again.

Bad management
The house was dirty. Sadly we were charged a $165.00 fee for cleaning. But when we got there it was dirty. Crumbs in bunkbed and master bed. Other visitors do not respect the quiet time. Loud till 1 in am. swimming in the pool. Kids eating pizza inside the pool. Empty beer cans around the pool. So, I will never stay there again. It lack management during the day.

Nice and relaxing
The rental area is nice, short walk to the beach. Our second time renting a condo in this complex and will rent again next year. Due to covid beach wasn’t packed and people were spaced out social distancing on whitecap beach area.

The Crab Shack was WONDERFUL PLACE to get away. The condo was just right for our family. The layout and decor are amazingly comfortable. We enjoyed the ocean and the pool and the assesibility of both. The weather was a little cloudy but who can predict that! The VRBO were fabulous. When we arrived we had difficulties working the front door combination, I had help Immediately. Our teenagers were never bored and that was amazing. We loved this whole experience and will do it again.
