I would highly recommend this vacation rental for anyone who likes quiet and privacy. The house itself is very cool, roomy and a great design. The beds are very comfortable . The photos in the VRBO site do not do it justice. Marrowstone island is wonderful, with several great public beaches that are not too crowded. Nice place to hang out for a few days.

Great location in a beautiful spot. The home is comfortable as well as unique with lots of beautiful wood work and art. You can feel the generosity of spirit, pride and love that went into building the place. It is not an anonymous vacation home. Great place to get away from screens and decompress. Loved the vinyl records, books/games and proximity to the state parks and general store.
Spotty internet and cell coverage may be a negative for those that need to stay connected. We did have some challenges getting the check in information in a timely manner, but mistakes happen and it felt like an honest oversite. Overall would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet get away in a lovely part of the Olympic Peninsula.

The house is lovely - plenty of room, lovely space. The beds were very comfortable. We had everything we needed for a great 3 day weekend.

For my family, this house was the perfect location for exploring nearby forts and state parks. The house was spacious and in a charming setting surrounded by dense woods. We saw gray owls and deers daily. The driveway and property was a bit overgrown, but for me, that just added to the charm.
Any cons were minor. A previous person had left windows and doors open, so there were alot of bugs indoors when we arrived (moths, mosquitos, spiders, ants, and even a few wasps) but that was no fault of the owner. The only other oddity we noticed was that the sleeping arrangement didn't quite match the description; we didn't see the listed sleeper sofa or futon--only a couch that was not a pull-out type. There were some broken lamps that need replacing. But none of that put a damper on our stay.
Overall, I loved the house and the location. The host, Jonathan, was quick to help and pleasant to deal with when we needed directions (and that was only because the VRBO listing had the address wrong by 1 digit). My family had a nice time and I would definitely consider staying at this property again.

Absolutely lovely little house in a secluded forest with a beautiful fire pit. Wish there wasn't a burn ban so we could have had a bon fire. The house is wonderful and there's a great set of casettes to listen to

We took the ferry from Edmonds and it was less than 100 miles round trip. You can tell this house was built with a lot of love and that's the vibe you get right away when you walk inside - loved the bench seat in the window! Great space for families or a get together with friends. Super close to two state parks (Flagler is awesome for kids) and our dogs loved it too!

Beautiful details in a relaxing house, a short distance from several parks and beaches!

Wonderful property, comfortable and quiet. We loved the woodland setting, the nearby beaches and the lovely home. A perfect getaway.

Family of 3 + 2 labs (1 geriatric, 1 < 12 months) had a wonderful stay here. Really lovely home, set back from the road and nestled in the trees. Super close to the Fort, which provided us days worth of beachcombing adventures for kiddo and pups. We had trouble a little with the internet; will download any media we want to our devices in advance next time. Oh but the kitchen is A++. We were easily able to cook a pretty elaborate thanksgiving dinner. Really enjoyed our time here!

Jonathan’s place is great! His woodworking Is beautiful and the woods surrounding the house compliment the indoors.
We loved the location and went to all the local parks and beaches. Great places for dogs to play and swim!
Would definitely recommend this vacation home.

Very relaxing and comfortable cabin across the street from Mystery Bay and a short jaunt down to East Beach. The beds are comfortable. One room is set up with a king-sized bed and the other is with a full and a twin. The host was lovely and easy to get a hold of. I really liked the record player. One thing to be aware of is that this cabin doesn't have wifi and cell reception was a bit spotty - it was fine in the driveway and elsewhere on the island.

For dog owners this spot was ideal. The home is set well back from the road with room for my two dogs to scout around without close traffic to worry about. To enjoy all the parks be sure to buy a WA Discover Pass which you can get at Fort Flagler entrance if you arrive from out of state like I did. Fort Flagler was great with long beautiful well-maintained walks but also included great side trails through the woods which my dogs loved. East Beach park was very close and a wonderful walk at low tide. Kayaking in Mystery Bay on a sunny day was a bonus. The kitchen is ready with everything you could need to pull off just about any meal level. The cabin layout is very open and I loved the finely finished Bamboo doored cabinets that lined the hallway. I will definitely return next year. Note - there is a heavy canopy of trees so you may have limited phone signal as I did with my Verizon service but there were enough bars out on the large deck to allow me to tether my laptop and check email.

This is a wonderful place. We appreciated the woodworker's creations and the house design. A place to return to, for sure.

Beautifully crafted home with a professional kitchen and ample space - perfect getaway from the city. We were forced to take a technology hiatus since i couldn't really get enough reception to be online with Verizon. We enjoyed being in a tranquil place with an excellent library and music collection.

My husband was raised on the Island. When we find out his dad’s health was in question we needed to come. I booked the property without telling my husband we would be on the Island. His great grandfather built the General Store. His cousin still runs

He did not go thru proper channels to accuse or allege "US" of damage to his floor. Please drop this matter. We asked his to show us Pictures of alleged damage he did not respond. He alleges we spilled water on floor day we left, found by Housekeeper. He alleges he has NOT been there in over a year.
Floor Buckling takes weeks to months to develop and we accused of this damage the next DAY.
Please Clear us of these allegations.

The house is lovely, open and spacious once you get inside. Great kitchen for cooking, very comfortable bed, and the deck was a delight. Make sure to bring your own coffee/tea and condiments, as there is nowhere to get coffee on the island except at the beach at Fort Flagler. We brought our dog and spent time at all the beaches - highest rated for pooches is Fort Flagler. Also recommend 'Ajax Cafe', superb meal and right off the bridge as you head inland. Definitely make reservations.

It was a perfect fit for our family of four. Our teens slept in the spacious second bedroom and enjoyed the space. The main bedroom is lovely with a comfortable bed. It is a quick walk across the street to the Bay and we loved the boats coming into the quiet bay. We walked to East Beach which was also lovely. We would return. Thank you!

Almost didn't want to leave the cabin
We had plans... Then realized it was much nicer to sit around the cabin, listen to the radio, and cook. Truly wonderful place to unplug and the beach is a short walk. We saw sea lions and jellyfish at the beach, tons of wildlife on and around the property. We went to local farmers markets to get local food and that kitchen is set up to cook it all! Don't miss Finn River Cidery nearby, the tour there was nice too. Basically a wonderful place with tons to do, if you actually want to leave the cabin!

Overall, we enjoyed our stay in this Marrowstone home. The location was lovely. If you are looking for a cozy, secluded getaway in a rustic environment, this would be a good choice. It is a close walk to the water and you have trees surrounding you in all directions...fun to explore Ft. Flager, Port. Townsend etc.
The photos on this listing don't give a full picture of the home. In addition to the master bedroom with (comfy) king bed and window into the forest, there is another bedroom with a full bed and a twin. The living room has a couch (as noted, it is broken but functional), a chair, a record player, and an old TV/ DVD player. There was a good selection of books, games, and movies to enjoy if you don't bring your own. The wood burning fireplace was cozy and my son and I enjoyed chopping wood for the fire every night, but there is also some stacked on the back porch.
Because it rained for most of our stay we did not get to use the deck very much, but did enjoy time by the window seat watching the rain fall.
The kitchen is quite spacious and a nice place to gather. The appliances are modern (minus the blender which was a blast from the past :-) and clean. There is a coffee maker and toaster available. If you are planning to prepare a gourmet meal in the kitchen, you might consider bringing your own knives, cutting board, pots and pans that you like, as they ones in the home are a little piecemeal. There were some basics in terms of food (coffee, oil etc) but they look to have been left by other guests. You can easily shop at the QFC in Hadlock to stock the kitchen or bring staples from home.
The bathroom was fine. The shower and shower curtain were a little awkward and the towels were old, but clean.
It was fun to look around at the personal touches and artwork the host has put into the home. There are some lovely examples of Coast Salish art. Something that is not pictured in the description is a rather large glass sculpture hanging by the dining room table. While it is technically very lovely, it depicts the nude torsos of a male and female. I only mention it because it might not be everyone's cup of tea and sometimes you have kids (ahem) that don't appreciate the finer aspects of nude sculpture. Anyway, it made for lively dinner conversation with my teens :-)
Overall, our stay was cozy and pleasant. I think the home would benefit from a deep clean and there is pet hair present so be aware if you are allergic. No washer/dryer.

As others mentioned, communication with the owner is essential prior to arriving. We were not given check in information and had to call. Owner stated several times that due to COVID protocol no condiments/food etc in the house, which is completely fine. We arrived and there was food, condiments and drinks that clearly had been there for quite some time. Refrigerator and stove top had not been cleaned in some time, but remainder of the kitchen was nice. Also mentioned in previous post, couch is broken but we weren't in the house that often to make a difference. My biggest issue was the bathroom. There are obviously some updates made, but the shower was left "as is." There is a shower pan but no door and a weird cloth curtain. When you take a shower, the floor gets soaked. There are a lot of towels provided, which now makes sense. We weren't able to use the balcony as the furniture had not been cleaned in quite some time.
On a positive note - this is a great location, and the house is very roomy. The kitchen island is a great gathering place to prep food and talk. We brought our dog and he loved sniffing around. We easily drove to Pt. Townsend, and other surrounding areas. There is a QFC close by to get necessary groceries. I think if the house was properly cleaned and the shower updated, this would be a fantastic stay.

Overall a really awesome place with lots of nice touches! Make sure you reach out to the owner before you arrive to get check-in info. Wonderful kitchen, great vinyl selection, and comfortable bed! The sofa seemed to be a bit broken, but was functional. Great location, even saw some deer in the morning outside the window!
