About this cabin rental

Lower your footprint and truly unplug in this rustic, OFF GRID, no electricity, no running water no Wi-Fi forest house nestled in the trees on a tranquil island. Walking distance to many beaches, trails & nature including all her elements; birds, bugs, owls, deer etc. Base camp to the Olympics, Port Townsend & more. We recommend booking with us if you want a superbly located, "green" experience moreover than just a place to sleep. Many liken the Eco House to "camping with comfy furniture". **Wood fired soaking tubs open late June!!**
SLEEP
The idea really is to snooze outside with nature in the sleeping hut. However, if nature isn't cooperating inside you will find a convertible daybed- a compact full pullout futon or climb the STEEP ladder (admittedly not for everyone) to a loft where a traditional full bed awaits. The porch alternatively has a twin swing bed that can be curtained off into its own private setting. Whatever your choice beds are made European style (no top sheet) topped with lofty down comforters to ensure a warm, restful night's sleep. Please let me know in advance if you will be using ALL beds (5 people max/additional fees will apply) so I can assure comfy linens are present for all during your stay.
LIGHTING
Is provided via rechargeable battery powered bulbs. To use simply locate the universal remote (on kitchen counter) point it at the lamp you want on and hit power. We suggest conserving lights to the room you are in and until after dark

THE KITCHEN
An efficient set-up including 4 burner propane cook top, gravity fed (no hot water/non-potable) sink, eco soap, towels and sponge. For cooking pots, pans, utensils cups, plates and bowls available. Basic cooking essentials can be found in the pantry: salt pepper, oil, coffee, tea, condiments and spices Additionally we have equpped each unit with a portable power battery bank for recharging the light bulbs and or your devices. No fossil fuels so no fridge bring a cooler or let us know and we can provide you with one. Drinking water provided in the VW farmstand.

TOILET/W.C
A regular serviced porta potti a quick jaunt from the front door. No shower on premises but if you want a real treat try Soak On The Sound a unique bath house located up the street in Port Townsend.

CHARCOAL FIRED SOAKING TUBS:
**burn ban permitting, check regs!!
~2 communal tubs located each in their own private forest setting
~Self serve, works just like a charcoal BBQ
~With monitoring /stoking comes to temp in 2-3 hrs
~Sign up sheet reserves your private time

HEAT
Comes by way of the wood stove. If you're craving an insta-heat and flame kinda fire you may want to pick up a bundle of kindling and supplement with store-bought wood. Without fires in the winter it will be chilly so pack warmly and keep a fire going or it won’t be comfortable.

Almost everything at Nine Mile Adventures Eco House has had or played a part in a prior life! We recycle and we create!! The off-grid cabin is a small sturdy, hand built (y2k-0) structure by a couple of twenty somethings. A truncated, bare bones dwelling made from mostly reclaimed and recycled materials. Where gaps, cracks and no sheetrock lacks character abounds with antique doors and windows once destined for landfills now proudly play a part in this quirky setting.

MANAGING EXPECTATIONS:
Every off grid set up it unique, ours is no exception. The experience is simple and real with no modern-day conveniences such as Alexa, vacuum cleaners, pressure washers or hot water this is what nature looks like (ok we do use a little elbow grease but hey I'm pretty sure they had that a hundred years ago!) Headlamps and personal flashlights are a must as there are multiple stairs/entrances and rugged uneven terrain. Warm sturdy clothing and layers are a good idea as well. Cell reception is weak but you usually can get/receive texts and the occasional call. Any mobility issues could make this stay not a good fit as access to the only 'traditional' style bed is via a very steep ladder.

Coming to 9 Mile Farm is an off the grid experience! We stayed in the Eco House and had fun with living with the basics, meaning no running water, battery run lights, and a wood burning stove for heat! The bed was comfortable and it was nice to enjoy the quietness a

Stayed the weekend in the cabin. Little stove keeps us warm during a cool weekend in August. Plenty of blanket, kitchen was very well stocked, bed upstairs was so cute and very comfortable. So charming, and quaint with so much character. Out house was very well kept. No power or running water, but just added to that charm. Would totally stay here again!

Very well equipped for an off grid experience. Peaceful, beautiful, in the middle of the woods on an island. Super cool!

The cabin was very clean, and the bed was comfortable. We appreciated the mosquito net around the outside bed because there were a lot of mosquitos. The main problem was that there was a bat in the cabin which was incredibly scary! Every time the lights were off it would fly around franticly. The bed is near the rafters so it is up high near the bat. In addition, there is a rooster who is up late calling and woke up at at 4am with loud calls. Between the bat and rooster we had no sleep and ended up leaving at 4am. We'd have left earlier, but tried to wait until there was at least some light for the drive home. We spent the night huddled under a blanket with hoods on bc of the bat.

This place was both magical and unique. It was an amazing place for our kids to run out in the woods, look for critters, and play. It had all that was needed to be off grid and be comfortable. However, there were a couple things I thought I should mention, and one of them is that if you are taking a few children, some of the beds are outside. I was not comfortable with our young children sleeping outside. So just know that if you have more than one or two children, you will have to improvise with bedding.

The location was perfect. Close to ft flagler but also down the road out of site. Tons of sleeping options, i especially loved sleeping outdoors. Everything created in there is just beautiful. Our only concern, the rooster who cant tell time

A great little getaway in the woods for part of our PNW roadtrip. Loved the creative home and property. Only suggestion: more lighting options in the home. Even if its just a few more rechargeable bulbs, we ended up using our own lanterns and camping laps throughout the home for adequate light, but lots of visitors likely won't have those and might appreciate some better light. In particular, in the kitchen/ dining table area. Great stay though!

We were looking to unplug for a few days and this cabin was the perfect spot to do that. It’s definitely rustic, but had everything we needed to relax. The property is really whimsical and there are lots of fun things to look at around the house. The kitchen was really well stocked for a cabin without power. It took some time to get the hot tub fired up but once we got it down it was perfect. I would recommend bringing some citronella candles or bugspray because the bugs were sort of bad in the evenings but otherwise it was really comfy and a great experience!
