About this cabin rental
This adorable, newly renovated cabin is located in the heart of the Upper Buffalo River Wilderness area and is less than 9 miles in either direction to Jasper, Arkansas or to the historic Boxley Valley. Jasper is a quaint town where restaurants, eclectic shops and groceries can be found. And, the Boxley Valley offers many opportunities to view the wild elk that live there and also has many great hikes including Lost Valley and the Buffalo River Trail (BRT). We are only minutes from several access points of the Buffalo National River and from many of the best hiking trails in the region. The cabin is located on 11 private acres and is at the end of a dead-end road, so it provides much privacy. Deer, bunnies, turkeys, and hummingbirds are often seen at the cabin. And, in the warmer months, hundreds of fireflies light up our woods!
Our cabin has one bedroom downstairs with a sleeping loft upstairs. It also has two full baths located on the main floor. In addition to the inside amenities, we have a wrap-around covered porch that makes being outside and experiencing nature very enjoyable. Part of the porch is screened-in which make being on the porch during the spring and summer great!
The gravel driveway is a bit steep. We highly recommend a 4WD vehicle or SUV. Smaller cars may have trouble reaching the cabin in certain seasons and weather. Feel free to ask us directly if you are worried about this!

Wonderful property! Loved the seclusion. We were stuck at the house one day due to rain, we had all outside activities planned, but we were not sad about it. Being able to enjoy the rain on The covered porch was fantastic. We love the Buffalo River area and would definitely choose this property again when we visit.

cute, clean and well decorated cottage but it has a few issues. confusing light switches, ceiling fan in bedroom would not work without light on, mattress on king bed uneven. swarm of wasps on back porch we had to spray.
overall it was a nice place to stay and we enjoyed.

We loved our time staying at the Firefly cottage. It was the perfect home base while we explored the area and hope to be able to come back in the future!

Great little place near the hiking trails for a quiet extended weekend away.

We really enjoyed a weekend getaway at the Firefly cabin. Great location. Very clean. We went for the fall colors and to see the elk. Nice to come back and use the grill for meals. Communication with management was great, too.

Very well-decorated and well-stocked cabin close to Jasper, Arkansas. Quiet and very clean. Convenient to many hiking trails. Super easy check in/out.

Cozy little cottage in a quiet area but close enough to enjoy surrounding activities.

This cottage was even prettier & cleaner in real life! The kitchen & bathrooms were well-stocked & the porches were amazing! The decor & comfort were decadent! And it was located in a most convenient area relative to all beautiful & fun activities. I would have given all 5 stars except my daughter & family got there early & called the telephone numbers given in correspondence as helpful in any situation. They were previous owner's telephone numbers who explained they had sold the cottage a year ago. The now owners had no telephone number listed.

This cabin was just what our family needed for a weekend away. It’s a perfect location if you are planning to float the Buffalo river. It’s serene and peaceful, clean, comfortable, and just overall dreamy. Don’t hesitate, book the Firefly cottage - you won’t regret it!

This is the perfect location for exploring the Buffalo. The cabin had a fully stocked kitchen and the bathroom even had extra toiletries in case your left something at home. Perfect size for our family. Perfect space for a base camp for exploring or for staying in! The hosts were great and took care of any concerns within a timely manner.

Disappointed
Our family of 4 planned to stay 3 nights and checked out by midnight on the first night. Entering the cabin there was a bad odor that we really thought would go away, couldn’t get lights/fans to work easily, had an atv driving on the fence line at 10:00 at night with just a green light. Very creepy as we had no curtains in living room/kitchen so our kids were totally uncomfortable in an unfamiliar area. We couldn’t get comfortable watching a movie as the couch is facing the kitchen and 2 wicker rocking chairs facing the tv. Then we killed a brown recluse in the living room. We understand there will be spiders but then I went to put the girls to bed in the loft and I killed 2 spiders on the wall at the head of the bed where my daughter was going to sleep. They were going to try to sleep with us, but couldn’t get past all the other stuff and wanted to enjoy our trip. We checked out at midnight, still trying to figure out the light situation, major cold chills as we were leaving. We realized it was not where we were supposed to be. I messaged the host about the atv at 10:30 that night and got a response the next morning saying the property owners on the other side of fence were probably checking for a baby calf or checking fence. She never took the time to call me and make it right with us. She said she showed up with her 2 housekeepers the next day when I told her we checked out and said they didn’t notice a smell. That’s the only issue she would address and no refund would be issued. So frustrating and not right.

Great stay. They thought of all the little extras. Good proximity to float and enjoy the river,.
Great stay in a very quite country setting. Loved the 4 sided porch and cozy modern decor. There were even deer eating in the yes one morning. Our sons loved the loft and all the games that were in the closet. Kitchen was ready to go with full size refrigerator, microwave, toaster, and all utensils. We did not use the grill but it was nice and had all tools needed.

Great location to float the river and hike!
We had such a great time in the Ozarks and this cabin is perfect! My 13 year old daughter even approved!! She said it was very “aesthetic” which is her highest complement. The decor was great but it didn’t end there. The beds and blankets were the most comfortable that I think I’ve ever slept in away from home and the house was stocked with everything you might need to cook or just hang out. I was even impressed with the reading nook in the loft. Our kids always take a book on trips and my 11 year old forgot his but not to worry…he was able to pick one from the bookshelf! We played games in the living room and I spent most mornings and evenings on the front porch swing with a glass of coffee or wine. So relaxing!
It’s also in the perfect location! Right between Ponca and Jasper. After driving 7 hours to get there we were so happy that everything we wanted to do was close.
Emily is a wonderful host and quick to respond to anything you need. Would definitely book Firefly again!

Great cabin for getting away. Very private and quiet. We loved all the board games on the rainy days. Location is very close to river outfitters for canoe/kayak rentals. Linens provided were nice and high quality. Kitchen well equipped for meal preparation. Jasper is a short drive for groceries or other essentials. Communication with owner was good and she provided nice sized soaps/shampoo. Overall good cabin for enjoying quiet solitude in the woods.

My husband and I really enjoyed out stay at the Firefly Cottage.
Beautifully decorated, remote wooded setting and close to a river outfitter for canoeing and several hiking trails.
Rating 4 stars out of 5, due to:
Upstairs loft area had some dead bugs on the carpet and plastic tag remanents, so did not seem to be freshly cleaned.
Also the soap dispensers were nearly empty upon arrival.
The directions and contact information sent the week of rental still had the previous owners phone numbers as well as on the laminated instructions in the cabin.
I only found this out as I sent a text to the number announcing our arrival and that the cabin was beautiful, to the previous owner Kathy. She was gracious enough to answer back and we had some communications throughout our stay.
Overall a good experience. I am sure the new owner will make necessary adjustments soon.

We really enjoyed our first stay in the Arkansas Ozark Mountains. The cabin was perfect and cozy. We hiked trails by the lovely Buffalo river and fished in the Buffalo and White Rivers. The cabin porch was wonderful for relaxing, seeing bunnies, deer and the neighboring cows. We highly recommend for a quiet getaway to enjoy the natural beauty in the area.

Not only is is perfect for enjoying the Buffalo National River, when we had a rain day it was a great place to read and listen to the rain hit the metal roof.
In addition, I needed internet access to check on some work items and it worked just fine!
Thanks for a great stay.

charming, very clean and supplied with all necessities and more
Lovely place to stay, especially the intriguing redbird that stays on the grounds. Stayed there during February when it was a bit cool to wander on the grounds but would love to stay there during the fall. I would recommend to anyone. A place of peace to enjoy with friends or family!

Perfectly secluded getaway
This was truly the perfect little getaway cabin! We came right before a snowstorm so we weren't able to explore the surrounding areas much, but the cabin was set up well for staying put! Plenty of DVDs, board games, and books to keep busy. The fully stocked kitchen had everything we needed for the meals we brought to cook. If you come during the winter months, I would recommend bringing a 4WD or AWD vehicle since the roads leading to the cabin are relatively steep! Can't wait to return some day!

Cozy Mountain Retreat
The Firefly Cottage is just where you need to be for an Arkansas getaway. The cottage is on a secluded property surrounded by beautiful scenery. The country feel of the cottage is warm and welcoming. The cottage is very clean, stocked, and in a fantastic location, located between Ponca and Jasper close to the Buffalo River. We came for the peace and quiet, hiking, and Elk viewing. Kathy, our hostess, was very helpful with suggestions on where to go and things to do. Kathy's suggestions and communication was perfect for our needs. It was a great getaway and we are looking forward to visiting Kathy and the Firefly cottage again.

Prettiest, Coziest Cabin in the Ozarks!
Firefly is the prettiest, coziest cabin in the Ozarks! It truly felt like our little home in the woods for a weekend. It had everything we needed and was exceptionally comfortable. The hosts offered more amenities than we've had in other cabins and were incredibly helpful when we had questions about the surrounding areas. The location of the property is IDEAL for exploring Jasper and Ponca! We drove in for lunch at Cliff House Inn, checked into the cabin and then headed to the Steel Creek area at sunset. The next morning we left before sunrise to beat the crowds at Lost Valley and we had the entire trail to ourselves - what a treat!! We explored Mystic Caverns and Crystal Dome during the day, went "home" for a late lunch, and then spent sunset hours at Alum Cove (avoiding the crowds once again - had it to ourselves!). The short drive to all of these areas was a pretty site in itself! Our girls loved watching the little bunny family in the front yard, waking up to the cows in the pasture, and playing in the loft. I particularly enjoyed the well stocked kitchen and beautiful master bathroom, and my husband was thrilled to be able to watch the Braves head to the World Series on the cabin tv! We've stayed in a lot of nice cabins over the years, but this one may just be our favorite!

This is a delightful property for exploring the area or just relaxing. Located between Ponca and Jasper and a short hop to the Buffalo River, multiple activities just a short distance, including hiking, elk watching and the Low Gap Cafe for a great dining experience. Totally surrounded by trees for the ultimate privacy. Excellent communication with owner.
