About this apartment rental
This luxurious loft suite is located in the heart of the historic downtown district, The Lofts on Gault offer the utmost in comfort, historic details, and views of the city and surrounding mountains. The modern eclectic style of this restored loft blends with architectural nods to the past. Spend your vacation, friends trip, or business travel in this elegant, high-end space. Listed on the National Historic Register, minutes from Little River Canyon National Preserve! (Loft access via stairs only.)
As you enter the stairway that takes you to The Lofts, the space immediately tells a story. You follow in the footsteps of those who climbed these stairs before you to visit doctors, dentists, lawyers, seamstresses and others who occupied the space since it was built in 1914. Art canvases along the oak staircase tell the story of a fire over two decades ago that left the space unusable and abandoned, preparing you for a dramatic "before and after" experience. Reaching the top of the stairs you are greeted by the next chapter in this historic building's life: The Lofts on Gault.
[NOTE: The Lofts on Gault are a historical preservation project, and there is no elevator. Access to The Lofts is via a 26-step stairwell. Also, parking for The Lofts is on the side of and behind the building.]
The fleur de lis pressed metal ceiling harkens back to the building's origin. The grand piano and curved wall in the foyer, along with the restored doors and transoms original to the building, set the stage for the elegance you will discover throughout this high-end space.
The Dr. J.M. Brewer Loft is to your left. It is named for a dentist and prominent citizen of Fort Payne whose son, Dr. Stephen Brewer (also a practicing dentist in town), owned the building from 1975 to 2020.
At just under 1,700 square feet, the Brewer Loft provides ample space for your family vacation, a special trip with a group of friends, or a quiet working trip/business retreat.
Entering the Brewer Loft, you are immediately struck by the blend of modern eclectic style and historic preservation. Exquisite tile work highlights the large, open kitchen that's appointed with new, modern appliances and all the amenities you need for your stay.
You'll be drawn to the elegant living room and dining room, where you will share meals and laughter framed by tall windows that provide stunning views of the mountains.
The Brewer Loft features a spacious master bedroom suite with a comfortable queen bed and top-of-the-line linens. The guest bedroom offers the same luxurious experience. For the working traveler, the office space helps you get things done, complete with a spacious work desk and an external monitor ready to connect your laptop (just bring the cables you need to connect to the HDMI port).
The period hardwood flooring throughout, plaster walls, and original doors with transoms remind you of the historic significance of this space, while the herringbone tile and fine appointments elevate the loft to a point of elegance unlike any getaway you've experienced.
This is a unique opportunity to stay in a space that has been historically preserved in cooperation with the National Park Service. It tells the story of its past, enveloped by modern, eclectic styling and craftsmanship. New wiring, plumbing, a sprinkler system, and security system will help ensure the building will continue to be a landmark of Fort Payne for years to come.

Really enjoyed staying here! It is so beautifully renovated. I felt right at home and enjoyed walking around the area and shopping. I was here for work at the hospital and this was so much better than a hotel and I plan to stay again.

This place was perfect for our group. We were in town for a basketball tournament, and our friends rented the loft next door. The space is so cool, and very spacious. The washers/dryers definitely came in handy, and the coffee shop below was very convenient. We loved our stay, and loved the town and people. Holly, the host, was so very friendly and always available. Thank you for a great stay! We hope to visit again!

The loft has been lovingly restored with the highest of style. It's the last thing you'd probably expect to find in a small Alabama town. The Brewer loft has a nice view of lookout mountain. The place was well equipped, with two good-sized bedrooms and nicely done bathrooms. The dining room is a particularly nice space to work or just play games. The only drawback -- walking up two flights of stairs when you forget something on the way out. It's over a nice coffee shop that serves food, etc. It's just a beautiful, chic space and I highly doubt there's anything like it for miles around.

What a wonderful place to stay to enjoy the beautiful city of Fort Payne! The Lofts on Gault are show stopping!!! We all took pictures and immediately wanted to go home and redesign our homes! There was plenty of space for 5 women with lots of stuff! Parking was easy! Check out instructions were so simple! I really can't say enough about this wonderful place!! Can't wait to visit again soon!!!

We wanted to find a place in northern Alabama for a quick fall break trip with our kids. The loft looked great online, but absolutely exceeded our expectations in person! The beds were comfortable, the pull-out couch wasn't bad either. We didn't know what to expect for the area, but absolutely loved hiking around little river canyon and spending time at the Cherokee Rock Village. The loft was centrally located for us to bounce around to several nearby areas. We would have no problem recommending the loft or the area to someone wanting a low-key vacation off the beaten path.

We rented the Brewer Loft for our Boom Days weekend. We only live 15 miles away but have already booked again! It was the perfect location within walking distance to our favorite boutiques and bar. We can’t wait to book for our out of town friends!
