About this cottage rental
Mile Marker Mahi 2Bd/2Ba
35' Boat Dockage Open Water Views
A sun seeker's haven, and a fisherman's paradise, this quaint ocean cottage is in a great location in the gated Venture Out Community of Cudjoe Key with quick and easy access to open water (both Gulf and Ocean sides). We're on a wide, deep water canal with a 35' dock, an open water seascape, and panoramic views of the sunrise and sunset.
The house is a charming and relaxing space. The kitchen comes fully stocked. There are flat screen TVs throughout with access to YouTube TV and high speed Xfinity WiFi. There are two queen beds as well as a double pull-out sleeper sofa, fitting up to 6 guests (it will be a tight squeeze with more than 4 people, but it is doable).
On the dock, you'll find a fishing rod holder, a guest dock box for your fishing/boating supplies, a bait freezer, and a cleaning station. Two Adirondack chairs are the perfect location to catch some rays. There are also four bikes for your use (to the pool, store, or leisurely ride around the community).
Please note that there is an entry fee for our gated community that you will have to pay upon check in. This gives you FULL access to the park. The park includes: 24 hour security, an Olympic-sized heated pool (and kiddie pool), hot tub, tennis/pickleball/bocce ball/shuffle board/basketball courts, golf putting area, children's playground, and a Rec building equipped with a pool table, darts, library and post-office. The marina has two boat ramps (there is no charge for launching your boat at VO), a pressure washer, fuel, convenience store, ATM and fish cleaning station.
Please note: It's our property manager's policy to supply only two rolls of toilet paper and some small hotel size soaps upon your arrival. As far as paper towels, extra toilet paper, dishwashing soap, hand soap, etc, etc., you will have to supply that yourself. We highly suggest you have those items on hand before your arrival. The Marina Store is within walking/biking distance from the house and stocks some necessities, such as basic food items, toiletries, soft drinks, beer, and wine—but has limited hours and may not be open when you arrive.
VO REGISTRATION FEE effective jluy 1, 2023 of $125.00 DUE UPON ARRIVAL CASH OR CC ONLY. PAID DIRECTLY TO VENTURE OUT WHEN YOU ARRIVE.

It was great. Caught over 50 Dolphin and a few other fish. Saw a 9’ Tiger Shark while fishing. That was fun! Great fish cleaning table at dock. Nice little freezer for bait. Nice little porch to sit and relax.
My boat sunk and flipped over at the dock. That was not fun and no idea what happened! Got it turned right side up $6000 later. Think I’ll name it “Flipper”!
The house was great as far as kitchen and living room. The WiFi was a bit testy but once I reset it it was fine. Had no idea there was a hot water switch so after a couple of cool showers I figured it out. Didn’t see it written down anywhere but it probably was. Over all it’s just great to relax and enjoy the location.
The only recommendation I’d make would be to enlarge and remodel bathroom with washer and dryer. You could take the door out from living room and move the wall a few feet into living room and do a nice tile shower and new toilet and sink. Put bifold doors in front of washer/dryer with cabinets on one side. Just a thought! Most folks are older that rent there and you need to be very proficient in Yoga to get in and out of tub shower.
But, Who’s complaining, had a blast!

Lovely, quiet place to stay
We enjoyed our stay - great to be right on the canal, house had everything we needed- including enough bikes for us to explore with. We liked being close to so many cool areas to explore, and away from the party areas. Would happily return one day!

They had no record of me coming at the gate.. so it was a long wait to get out. I did not know until the second day about the hot water switch.. so after 13 hours of traveling i had to take a cold shower as nobody answered any phones

Perfect getaway!
From the first night until the morning we left, we greatly enjoyed our stay! The house was just what we needed for our short getaway to the Keys. The view of the sunrise at the end of the road was PERFECT, even with the clouds. We enjoyed sitting by the canal with our beers and fish tacos. We even rode the bikes around the neighborhood to look at Christmas lights. Highly recommend!

Clean, comfortable and relaxing
The property is just as described. Right on the waterway, just a short distance to the open sea. The beds were very comfortable and the place was spotless. Very relaxing and a great vibe in the neighborhood resort. Close to Key West for those times you want to go there. Such a peaceful setting. We enjoyed our visit

Awesome place!
This little bungalow is just as described. Super cute decor, comfortable, right on the water, in a gated community. Close enough to drive into Key West and our adventures on Marathon Key, yet in a nice quiet area away from the noise and busy areas. Good restaurants nearby but house also has a complete kitchen making it easy to cook. Nothing I can think of that would make it better except maybe a couple of fishing poles. The house was perfect for us!!

Paradise
Beyond my expectations. Close enough to key west but without all the hustle and bustle. It was a great way to take in KW then come back and enjoy the tranquility of our village. The cottage was light and airy as well as being well equipped. Loved it!!

Nice location in the Keys
This property is located about 30 minutes north of Key West. The house is an older doublewide type home. It is well maintained and equipped. There are plenty hand towels, bath towels but not washcloths. There is a small washer and dryer in the unit. There is access to a pool and swimming lagoon but swimming in the canal was just as pleasant in front of the unit. We didn't use the boat tie up and ramp. There are a couple great restaurants close by also. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there.

Another fantastic year in Venture Out
I have stayed in Venture Out previously and each year it continues to exceed my expectations for vacation rentals. This particular unit is aligned with Venture Out's excellence. I will continue to rent in Venture Out (or even this unit) when looking to vacation in the lower keys area.

Nice clean, cool little place.
Very clean, ac worked better than expected. Looked to be renovated or just painted. 1 bike had rear tube come out of tire and didn't realize hot water heater was on switch in kitchen, so we didn't have hot water for couple days but everything else was very good and nice . Would stay and recommend this place again.

Perfect stay and close to Key West!
We were looking for a nice place with a water view and close enough to Key West without being right in the center. Perfect for us in everyway! Clean, updated, comfortable beds, quiet and on the water. Kitchen was well appointed and furnished with everything you need. We don't fish or have a boat but love being on the water and going kayaking. Riding bikes safelyis a big plus. Highly recommend!

Small but family friendly
Very cute and well maintained. Was very surprised that no extras provided (dish soap, hand soaps, paper products) but other than an immediate trip to the store everything else was wonderful.

Great time!!
We enjoyed our stay!! Only complaint is I emailed multiple times to find out how many working bikes were available. The response was VERY short and the answer was 2. I had called an outside company to reserve 2 more so all adults had one. When we got there there were 4 working bikes. I wasn't able to get my money back from the outside company.

It was everything it was supposed to be and more. A neighbor even loaned me a kayak. Thank you for everything. Simone

Great location, friendly fun neighborhood
Great neighborhood- this is the second time we’ve stayed at Venture Out and we would stay there again. This unit is great if you fish (we do not). It was a good spot to see the fishing boats come in and out and the pelicans were quite characters. The neighborhood has lighted tennis and pickle ball courts that are lighted. Only 30 minutes from key west!

Venture Out 2021
Great experience. Don’t have a negative thing to say. Property manager responded to every question within minutes. Everything was easy from start to finish. The whole house had labels and instructions so nothing was confusing. The air conditioner kept up with the afternoon sun. The house and property are clean. Would definitely recommend this place.
