About this farm stay rental
Our modern farm style ranch house is set within a working horse farm - This newly renovated, 2 bedroom home features vaulted ceilings, hardwood flooring, a spacious kitchen, and a private fenced-in yard where you can enjoy outdoor BBQ’s, yard games, or just relax relax around the fire pit on Adirondack chairs and unwind under the bistro lights and twinkling stars of the crisp central coastal evenings.
Nestled in a 5 acre working horse farm, you’ll be greeted by a number of beautiful horses on your way to the front door. During your stay, you may hear the clip-clop of playing hooves, or the excited nickering of horses awaiting morning & evening feedings. (Feeding times are approximately 6:30am and 4:00pm for reference.) Horse riding and lessons are not available on site, but there are other local trail ride experiences we can direct you to.
Our get away is a unique vacation rental property because of its convenient location to all the amenities of the city, yet the best of quiet country living. With inspiring views of the “Seven Sisters” range (a line of seven non-active volcanic peaks), the ranch is surrounded by rolling landscapes, picturesque pastures, grassy fields, neighboring cattle ranches, seasonal poppies and glowing sunsets- you just might forget it is located only minutes from downtown SLO, Cal Poly University, gorgeous wineries, numerous restaurants, thriving nightlife, hiking and beaches.
We love animals. We have 4 resident pups (3 French Bulldogs, and a chocolate Lab) that wander the property during the days. We are excited to meet your furry family members as well, but we do require a few ground rules. Dogs need to be on leashes when not inside the house or contained inside the yard. This is to ensure everyone’s safety. Dogs must be cleaned up after, there is a pooper scooper and garbage can on site.
Children must be supervised at all times to ensure their safety and the safety of others.
Bring coats because SLO’s warm spring and summer days are cooled by coastal evening breezes! There is lots of closet space to keep extra layers.
For an extra fee: Bring your horses for overnight boarding and haul out to all our counties amazing trail rides and beach riding (message host for availability and pricing).

We absolutely loved our home away from home this weekend ! This sweet retreat is a perfect- so close to downtown SLO, easy trip to morro bay and cayucos. Loved having the horses right outside our door ! We will be back for sure!

We loved our stay here! Close to downtown SLO and the horses are rather entertaining. We would definitely stay here again!

This was a completely relaxing stay. The retreat is exactly as listed. Furniture and bedding all extremely comfortable, and the hosts very hospitable. It was quite a treat to have horses whinnying outside our bedroom window.

Fabulous, like to bring a larger group to your larger properties.

Thanks for an excellent stay.

We had a wonderful time! It was a perfect short drive from downtown slo, woke up to the most beautiful view of fields and cows and horses, and the property manager was so kind. Would come again and would definitely recommend it!

A beautiful home close to stables with wonderful horses (not noisy) and surrounded by green hills. Kind and accessible hosts, well-thought out and new accessories. We were very comfortable. There’s a fire pit and bbq we couldn’t use because of rain, but I think it would have been fun outside!

It was a joy to watch the horses each morning when we woke up. The hosts were wonderful!

Our family and pups truly enjoyed the ranch retreat. It was buzzing with action in the day that was enjoyable to see. Great quality of amenities and worked perfectly for a different take on getting away (amd close to everything!).

We didn't realize that we'd be staying right in the heart of ranch. Each morning we were greeted with cows grazing in the pasture. The quiet sounds of foals and mama horses snuggling. It was a perfect mix of nature and convenience. SLO was a quick 8 minute drive, Los Osos and Montana de Oro only a 15 minutes drive. It was the perfect respite for this stressed out family. Thank you for the best nights sleep I've had in a long time!

Lindsey and Ish’s property is pure magic. It’s such a unique experience that we truly enjoyed. The ranch retreat is beautifully designed and decorated and the natural, rural surroundings make for some epic views. The horses made for wonderful neighbors and we loved getting to know them and pet them all weekend, especially the baby horses! We’d love to go back again soon.

Very well kept and beautiful property. Everything you need and wonderful fenced in yard for the pups. Visited with all the horses and new foals every morning. Hosts were very welcoming.

Nestled in the middle of horse stalls, this little gem is wonderfully outfitted, comfortable and the right size for our group of 5. The host family are sweet, attentive and friendly. We loved walking around the property visiting with the 80+ horses and colts, watching folks taking horseback riding lessons, cows grazing next door and so much more. And you are only 5 minutes outside of SLO but you feel many miles away. Really enjoyed our time. We’ll be back for sure!

What a great experience! Excellent location as it felt like it was secluded, but only about 10 minutes from downtown, which is my kind of place. Loved all the animals. The house was amazing. Everything felt luxurious from the beds to the shower. No complaints. Highly recommend. Very sweet hosts!

The Ranch Retreat is a fantastic and unusual location for a vacation rental! Four of us (5 including our dog!) thoroughly enjoyed our stay, wandering around the property, meeting the horses and horse people. Being city folk, we know nothing about ranch life, and everyone was so friendly and welcoming, answering our basic questions. We were excited to see the 10-hour old foal in the barn! Lindsay and Ish are super responsive and have really created a lovely home for guests. While it feels so far from anything, it’s a very short drive into San Luis Obispo for dining and shopping and visiting museums etc., and quick to run on over to the coast as well.
The Ranch Retreat is a perfect home base for the area. We look forward to returning!

This place was such a great place to stay!! My family really enjoyed seeing all the horses and the ranch retreat was so nice, clean, modern and was perfect for our weekend stay to visit our daughter at Cal Poly. The place is exactly as described…so close to town yet you feel like you’re in the country. Lindsey is a wonderful host. Responsive, accommodating and friendly! Would definitely stay here again and have recommended to my family.

What a beautiful, perfectly located retreat; it was warm, welcoming and serene. We loved being here, it's minutes from Cal Poly where our daughter goes to school, a few minutes from Scouts and downtown. We loved the whole aesthetic, how clean everything was and how comfy the beds were, it was just easy. Lindsey was great with replying quickly and putting my mind at ease when i asked about our dog barking at the horses, we have an anxious doodle. It was very peaceful, we will be back for sure!
Thank you Lindsey and Ish, it was an amazing stay.

We had such an excellent time at the Ranch retreat. It was so fun being surrounded by horses and we even got to see a 3 day old foal. The rooms were modern, clean, and incredibly comfortable. The beds were perfect and we get such great sleep! We brought our dog and he loved the outdoor space behind the cottage. The property has the perfect location-- it feels remote and is so scenic, yet it was an 5 minute, easy drive into town. We had the best time and hope to be able to return soon!
Note to future guests: make sure to bring shampoo, bath soap, and any other shower necessities.

Our family was looking forward to our Christmas vacation at Ranch Retreat and our expectations were exceeded! The hosts, Lindsey and Ish, were very welcoming and explained the ranch and local destinations. The Retreat is excellent and well provisioned to make you feel at home. We loved visiting the horses, relaxing around the fire pit and playing outdoor games. It is a short driving distance to nearby trails, dog friendly beaches, and state parks.
We want to return to the Retreat.

We spent Thanksgiving here. The house was beautiful and clean inside and the location is central. It was really cool to be able to take morning walks across the property and see all of the horses. Definitely recommend and would stay again.

The place was perfect for our family of five! Super clean and so beautifully decorated. The hosts were very welcoming and kind. Really cool to have horses right outside without a trace of horse scent inside. Close to downtown and Avila beach. Really enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay here again. Only suggestion would be to have body wash in the shower…we had brought shampoo and conditioner but had to make a run for body wash. Other than that, absolutely perfect. Thank you for a wonderful visit!!!!

What a joy having the most adorable greetings from the horses as we came and went from our parked car. We took full advantage having morning walk-abouts the property. Lindsay and Ish have created a special space. The rental was clean, fully equipped kitchen, and decorated nice. Ending out evenings at the outdoor fire-pit was a bonus. I’m certain we will be back.
5.0
Really beautiful property right between Madonna and Bishop, ~5 mins to Scout Coffee off Foothill. Lindsey was super accommodating for the last minute addition of my dog joining us! For future guests with pets, just beware that the house is literally RIGHT between two rows of horse stables. The horses are totally accustomed to dogs, but make sure your dog is accustomed to other big animals!
The accommodations were really private and felt more like a guest home for friends & family as opposed to a vrbo for extra cash. Only minor things we would recommend -- advertising that there are no basic toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, body wash - or provide them!) and additional sponges for the kitchen.
Overall, great stay close to everything in SLO. Would definitely stay again!

This house was great! It was clean and had everything that we needed. We really enjoyed the horses being so close. My son goes to cal poly and it was easy to go from the house to the school. The owners were both great with making sure our time was perfect.

The location of the place was really ideal. The place was very clean and comfortable to stay at. We brought our two dogs and they enjoyed the place as well.

The most amazing stay! Horse ranch but 5 minutes from downtown. Home was pristine and clean as can be. Will be our go to stay each time we visit SLO!!

This was a perfect place to stay. Quiet and central to all of the central coast beaches and sights. The apartment itself was well stocked with all of the amenities required for our stay. Plenty of horses, cats and dogs to complete the experience. Highly recommend.

We had such a relaxing and seamless weekend getaway! Highly recommend booking this stay. And our daughter LOVED saying hi to all the horses!

We visited SLO for a family reunion. The ranch was so beautiful and peaceful. We loved seeing the horses and sharing the experience with our granddaughter! Our host was great and made our stay so nice that we didn’t want to leave!

The vibe of this rental is so welcoming. We were very comfortable in the space. We didn't realize there would be horses right outside our door, but we loved it. Easy in/out access and close to everything. We will be back!

I am so thankful I found this place! The location is perfect, 15 minutes from Cal Poly, downtown and Madonna Inn. The cottage was beautiful inside, everything updated and clean. The beds were very comfy with lots of plush pillows. The grounds were beautiful, every morning and evening we walked around and looked at all the horses. Lindsay and Ish were very nice and personable. They were able to give us horse back riding recommendations, which turned out to be fantastic! I highly recommend this awesome experience and stay in the Ranch Retreat.

We (myself, husband, two teen boys, and two dogs) loved our time at the ranch! It was such a unique and fun experience to be surrounded by horses and open space, yet be so close to SLO. The house was perfect, super clean, and check in/out was a breeze. The farm fresh eggs were a hit, and one less thing I needed to pick up at the store. The horses and dogs were so friendly, as were the owners. We will definitely stay there again when we’re up in SLO!
