The White Stone/Kilmarnock/Irvington area that resides in the River Realm of Virginia's Northern Neck is your off-the-beaten path paradise for watermen and landlubbers alike. As they say,..if you know, you know! Visitors to the area can enjoy first class golf-courses, sailing and boating, antiquing, local wineries and breweries, bird-watching and dining destinations featuring famous Rappahannock oysters in a relaxing and picturesque area.

A "pilothouse" is synonymous with the more familiar term "wheelhouse", which in nautical terms means the elevated deck with the best visibility where the crew commands the direction of the vessel. At The PilotHouse in White Stone, you and your favorite family members and friends can command your group's vacation enjoyment in comfort and style. The PilotHouse is a premium waterfront residence with panoramic views that can be enjoyed from every room in the house. Four private king-sized bed sleeping areas with water views will enable restful sleep when desired. One separate bedroom with four extra long twin beds is available for those single sleepers who enjoy a shared space.

The PilotHouse has plenty of shared laugh-and-play space too! A large salt water swimming pool and deck loungers will call out for you and your guests to come out and chill out (pool is open May through early October). Prepare your meals together in the large well-equipped gourmet kitchen. Set a fancy table for dining in the sunroom with floor to ceiling windows. Curl up in comfortable chairs or sofas to enjoy morning coffee or afternoon happy hour in the sunroom. Grab a rocking chair on the brick covered deck morning, noon, or night to enjoy each phase of the sun as well as the jet ski, kayak, and boater "traffic". Lounge in the screened porch area to read books, play games, or tell fish tales after a fun day on the Chesapeake Bay. Play horseshoes, cornhole, croquet in the expansive yard. Our week at the Pilot House was fantastic! The house is fantastic, and we joked all week that we were going to refuse to leave. It was beautifully decorated, furniture and beds were comfortable, and kitchen supplied everything you could possibly need. Owners were friendly, accommodating, and responsive! Would gladly stay again!

This home (and I mean HOME, not rental) is the nicest we’ve ever stayed at! The furnishings were Very comfortable, the kitchen had EVERYTHING we could have asked for, the views were Amazing, the pool was large & there were toys, games, water toys galore! It truly felt like we were visiting (very stylish) friends! The owners were very responsive & had wonderful suggestions for the area. We spent 10 days with our kids & grandkids and NO ONE wanted to leave! I can’t give enough stars or say enough positive things about the home or the owners!

The covered porch was a favorite perch for enjoying morning coffee and watching all the activity on the premises - games, boating, wildlife, the river itself. The large sunroom was also greatly enjoyed for dining, visiting and playing games at the long table. You have an extraordinary property. We had the most incredible stay for my daughter’s wedding! Not only was the place immaculate, but it was equipped with everything you never knew you needed. We had hair and makeup done at the house and had the perfect space with views of the water all around. The layout accommodated our large group without ever feeling like we were on top of each other. Kevin was a fantastic communicator even through the extenuating circumstances of tropical storm Ophelia. He had someone come and secure all outdoor furniture so we didn’t have to lift finger. We hope to stay again over the summer and hopefully many summers to come for family vacation!

Absolutely gorgeous property with amazing water views from almost every room in the house. Fantastically decorated and felt like a hidden oasis for my family! Celebrated my father’s 80th birthday with fishing and crabbing- it was perfect! Many gathering places for all of us to sit together and disperse for alone time, as well! Felt like home away from home without the worries! Will definitely be back!

The Pilot House was beautiful, comfortable, clean, and had every amenity imaginable. We lucked out and had beautiful weather the entire week, which meant we got in plenty of pool time! The views, from every window in every room of the home, are gorgeous. Julie and Kevin were responsive to any questions. My only complaint is that we didn't book for two weeks instead of one! Our family definitely hopes to return one day.

This house is gorgeous and has everything you need to enjoy home away from home. It was the perfect location for our family to gather as we laid our mother to rest. Lots of space to spread out, comfortable beds, well-appointed kitchen, and beautiful location. Pool is great but not heated so early in the season it’s very cold. Wi-Fi is cell tower reliant so if you need to work from there or have reliable internet (such as streaming), phone hotspot works better. I would absolutely recommend this rental and stay here again.

This property is everything you want your VRBO to be. The location is perfect, secluded but near some quaint towns for grocery runs and meals out. The view is fantastic, great light throughout the day, and the water access isn't heavily trafficked. The house has a great layout, is taken care of, was clean, extremely well appointed with everything you could want and should have accessible. Plenty of towels, utensils, and basic ingredients. Even the books placed around the home were good reads, and the Roku box easy to login to our own profile on any app. The owners were extremely responsive and are top notch at managing the property. It really couldn't have been a better stay.

The PilotHouse is perfect! Beautiful setting, beautiful house, all we wished for and more. Beautifully decorated and so comfortable it makes you want to just stay inside and enjoy the space. BUT, the incredible views from all the big beautiful windows calls you to go outside to enjoy all this property has to offer. Planning another trip to The PilotHouse for sure!!!!

Our visit to the Pilot House was memorable and outstanding on so many levels but it makes sense to start with the property itself. The gorgeous Pilot House was exactly as described, and the property and grounds were truly stunning. Truth be told, the photographs of some features, especially the kitchen, do not do justice to this immaculate, very well-conceived, and commodious property. The gathering areas were huge yet inviting and high-end yet accessible and comfortable. The bedrooms and bathrooms were all spacious, comfortable, and very clean. As truly memorable as the interior is, the views were simply to die for. At dawn, at dusk, and at all times in between - this place was mesmerizing. There is a powerful and therapeutic sense of healing and oneness that can be gained from connecting with the water and boy does the Pilot House have it. As fate would have it, my consulting practice required that I work for periods during our trip and through my VPN, the wifi worked fine to facilitate large documents transfer. Dealings with the Owners were efficient, cordial, and all queries were responded to promptly. As I mentioned to them, this 4-night respite to the Pilot House was pure gold insofar as the stress relief and rejuvenation that it helped to facilitate. With the Owner's permission, we'll certainly be back.

We loved this house! What an incredibly special and beautiful place! Thank you so much for sharing it. It was the perfect spot for our family to reconnect. We enjoyed fireworks on the creek, 2 nights of fires (with the super thoughtful s’more kit), fishing off the pier, and 4 days straight around the pool! The PilotHouse is simply breathtaking. The house is beautifully situated and open, airy, but thoughtfully decorated for comfort with ample room for everyone and different activities, but also with lots of quiet corners for conversations and reading. Everything was spotless with nice homey touches. The house feels larger than appeared in the photos. We spent a lot of time on the back porch just simply enjoying the serene surrounding water and the wild life, including ospreys, herons, plenty of smaller birds, and a northern mockingbird we nicknamed “the Enforcer” for how ardently he seemed to lay claim to the house with the sweetest songs. The pool was a huge plus, even if a bit cold. We also made use of the lawn games and enjoyed ourselves. The kitchen was spacious, well-equipped, and comfortable for making meals with family. We also appreciated Julie's and Kevin's responsiveness to our emails. We all simply loved the house, and look forward to coming back.

We booked the PilotHouse for the long Memorial Weekend and had such a wonderful stay, that no one wanted to leave. The home is decorated beautifully and very comfortable with ample space for everyone to spread out. The kitchen is large and well-stocked with everything you need & the beds are super comfortable. The pictures do not do this home justice, it really is stunning. It was such a treat to have the pool as well, while it was still a little cool for swimming, we enjoyed grilling and sunning by it. Another bonus was the ability to have our boat with us for the weekend, the boat dock was an easy walk from the house which is not always the case at the River. I 100% recommend renting The PilotHouse for its location (easy drive into Whitestone & Kilmarnock), beauty & comfort, and for how easy it was to work with Kevin & Julie. The entire family enjoyed our weekend and as soon as we left they asked when we can go back!!
