Great location. However, the hotel needs lots of improvements. Bed is a really uncomfortable, very hard mattress. There are no power sockets close to bed. There's a kettle. However, the cable isn't long enough to plug in. the only way to use it is if you place on the floor (what I didn't try). Wi-fi is charged, and parking is charged. Leisure facilities are charged. Bedroom was big, but old carpet, old windows that allowed the wind to get in and make the room freezing (even with 2 radiators on).

The room was excellent booked a small double but the room we had was not that it was very roomy the bed was a super king and very comfortable. Will be staying again at this hotel

Thhe evening meal was also very nice and at a reasonable cost

There was no light on the bathroom mirror, the heating didn’t work in the room and the shower was Abysmal it trickled out and I took a video of the tap when I tried to run a bath it would of taken a week to fill up.
I will be making an official complain, on arrival a gentleman was checking out and he turned to me and said whatever you do ‘do not have the breakfast it’s absolutely revolting’ so that was my welcome to the hotel. I’m extremely disappointed on this occasion and have stayed in the royal bath a number of times.

Changed room to better of me at no extra cost..friendly..excellent location for theatre @beach

The room was the best one we’ve stayed in at the hotel ( 3 times this year )
The only downside was whoever was in the room above was walking around and making a noise up to about 3am
That’s the first time this has happened while we stayed there
All the staff were great, with a special mention to the restaurant staff

Staff polite and helpful in reception though

Lovely hotel with a decent pool and sauna. Great position and grounds. It once was THE best hotel in Bournemouth but is a little down at heel...maybe part of its charm I would happily return.

We upgraded our stay and the manager made sure we were very comfortable through out our stay. I liked that you pay for food and leisure separately. So you can use what you need. Food especially wanted to eat outside with many choices available locally. Sea view, must go Swimming and spa its the most relaxing as well as the balcony for sun and coffee. Make sure you call up the hotel to check whats on as live music was very well planed and perfect for the drinks at the bar. Very welcoming and pleased.

It would be a better stay if wifi is available in the room

Great location with old world charm offering value for money. Large clean functional room. Solo traveller and felt safe and secure. Convenient for public transport and right on the ocean front for beautiful walks and sunset. Really nice afternoon tea on a tiered stand for £16.50.

I think alot of the negative reviews dont do this place any good justice, the building whilst dated is a wonder to look at and the room we stayed in had just a had what looked to be a fresh bathroom installed, staff were very friendly and helpful, cant really complain much we were comfortable and happy throughout our stay

Old school vibe didnt eat there but the hotel was spotless..close to the beach and shopping.

Lovely hotel but a few rooms need further development

The shower area have an odour coming from the WC pipe. And the room was stuffy as there was no air conditioning in the room.

Great hotel, great location, health spa well worth a visit

When advertising hotel , parking charges of £25 and additional charges to use the facilities , also the time the facilities close should be made more obvious, although the hotel was nice I’d off stayed elsewhere knowing the above

The hotel is very near to the beach and waterfront amenities. Easily walkable. The hotel has nice gardens.
Staff were all very good and always ready to help.
We got a taxi from the train station which cost us £7.

Wasn’t aware of the fact we had to pay for the pool facilities and room wasn’t clean to the highest standard. But overall staff was friendly and had an amazing time

Never stay there again

Really like the hotels location and history but it is let down by its very rude staff, very run down appearance and the breakfast on the last day looked like it was from the previous day reheated.

Enjoyed our stay. Room clean and tidy. Staff very helpful and friendly.
Water flow in taps and shower very slow/no power but nice hot water. Bathroom door didn’t fully shut, which wasn’t a problem, but when I forced it to completely close it got stuck shut when I was inside and needed force to push it from the outside (lucky I wasn’t on my own)! I should have mentioned this to the hotel but did forget!
Leisure facilities were lovely and we really enjoyed the pool, sauna and steam room. Breakfast buffet was easy and the food was fresh and hot. Lots of different food options and different teas/coffees/drinks to choose from.
We opted to park slightly away from the hotel (7 mins walk) in Winter Gardens which was £12.10 for 24 hours rather than the £25 hotel charge or £27 South car park next to the hotel. Luckily we arrived the day before the air show was on as parking would have been a much bigger issue as a lot of car parks were closed to general parking.
Would definitely stay again as a great location for everything around the centre/beach area of Bournemouth.

It was ok, the location was good. Very basic

We had an excellent stay. The room is not serviced for the duration of the stay and you need to ask reception for towels and extra soap but since we only stayed for 3 nights this wasn't a problem for us.
We got a room upgrade which was amazing. The room is really spacious and fantastic. The bed was confortable. There is no AC but they do provide fans in the room to help on warmer days. The breakfast was tasty, could use a bit more variety. The dinner buffet was great with three different mains to choose from and different plates every night. The staff were very helpful, kind, professional and friendly. The property is charming and the gardens are well kept and lovely. The property is a 5 minute walk to the beach and very close to shops.

Good location staff was very friendly and helpful would recommend this place

Hotel lifts are currently (23-25 August) out of order. Not a problem for us but might be for others. Staff were helpful and courteous. Valet parking available at £25/day but public car park nearby at lower cost. Location is convenient for beach & pier, town centre shops, restaurants and entertainment.

Staff here were happy to help when we needed extra tea and coffee items. The room we stayed in were spacious and clean. The grounds were well maintained. The staff round the hotel greeted you with a smile and very helpful with our needs ie reception when asking to book a taxi when we cheaked out. The buffet breakfast was amazing with a good selection to cater for adults and children. We definitely recommend this hotel and definitely will return for for another stay.
