It was a good, cheap hotel which was what we were aiming for. Get what you pay for.

Wonderful staff, tidy toom with comfortable beds

Good for the price

Comfortable Beds but property is old and tired. Wallpaper on walls was bubbling in places, no Netflix etc and generally the place is dated. Staff were not overly helpful and generally seemed disinterested. Ok for the money but don’t expect much.

The beds are amazing, we don't want to wake up when we stay. Very comfortable.
Just the facility is a little bit old. For us, it is fine.

I liked the convenience and easy check in.

Clean and comfortable enough

The hotel is pretty simple which is reflected in the price. The hotel room could have used a desk or something similar. You can also hear everything in the bathroom in the next room
The restaurant was ok. Great service but if you want ”good” food, there is better options out there.
Service was very good, very polite and helpful.

We really enjoyed our stay & the staff were all very pleasant & helpful.

Cigarette tray with butts on the terrace. Very off putting

Hotel is older but they are making efforts to update. Beds were really comfortable. Look for the fridge and kettle in main room console! Took me a while to find them! 😂 Breakfast buffet- hot food items were not great but other items available to sustain you.

Lots of construction on roads and noise. Apartment was dated/worn. Wasn’t bad but not good either

A great place to stay in a very nice town

The location is very convenient & an easy walk into the town center. Staff were very good & helpful. The property does show ALOT of wear & needs some attention. Room cleanliness just Ok. Should be more detailed.

We enjoyed our stay at the Kings Gate Hotel while in Te Anau. The staff was really friendly and the room was very nice and roomy.

Great location opposite the lake, a nice stroll to shops and food. Beds were new and comfy. Helpful staff.

Nice place to rest

Parking was diabolical, not nearly enough for the number of rooms, had to park on the road at the back and walk up in the freezing cold. There was a door at the back of the hotel which was locked, a controlled entry/exit would have made things much easier as we were only a few rooms away but had to walk to the other end of the hotel and then back again outside. Bathroom was very dated and the shower over the bath downright dangerous, a grotty rubber mat and high step over the bath not good for those with mobility/balance issues, not to mention the soggy wet shower curtain. Upon arrival the floor in the bathroom looked as though it hadn't been cleaned and the consumables in the bathroom were not replenished during our three day stay, had to visit reception twice to request additional supplies. Beds were very comfortable and the linen of a good standard.

Nice older motel. Clean rooms, restaurant. Wonderful buffet brunch. Helpful attentive pleasant staff.

Parking bays way too small.
No elevator esp for luggage

The hotel is in a very good position, right on the Lakefront, as the name implies. The view from the restaurant at breakfast was stunning. There is enough parking, but due to the narrowness of the parking spaces, we couldn't fit our car in easily between two other vehicles, so had to find how to get to the back, where the entrance was not really obvious.

hotel is in front of lake, provides parking space.

Great friendly helpful lady at check in, large room, very comfortable bed, not the most modern but good standard, all the staff I spoke with friendly, was nice to be able to have a bath

We stayed for 2 nights on our around South Island trip, the hotel was ok for this short stay. The hotel is badly in need of an update, we had a fridge that had missing door guards so weren’t able to keep milk or any bottles in the fridge. The location of the hotel is great, just a short walk into the main area of town where there are plenty of bars and restaurants. The view from the front of the hotel is stunning, over look the lake, the hotel should take more advantage of this view.

Spacious, comfortable room, no lift to upper floor is hard with luggage to carry, free laundry liquid issued was a nice touch.

The room size was big enough, with standard amenities provided. While both my nieces didn't have a problem, I do have one, as the room makes me stuffy and triggers my allergic reaction to dust mites. I suspect this comes from the carpet combined with outdated ceiling. So if you have allergic with dust mites like me this is not the place for you.

The Kingsgate was good value for money. It is a bit tired, but the room was bigger and better than I had anticipated. There wasn't a desk in our room. We did have a table and 2 chairs, but the chairs were a bit low, so it was uncomfortable to type on a laptop there. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The town centre was about a 10 minute flat walk away, so it was easy to get around. They also have additional parking at the rear of the property that we really liked.

The property halls and doors are a bit dated but the room was fine.
