Overall, we had a great time and loved the venue.
At the price point of $400 after taxes and fees, we felt like a few things were lacking.
The shower in the Gatsby Room had very low water pressure.
No Wi-fi was an inconvenience.
The TV was from 20 years ago and very small.
The biggest issue for us was this….
If guests wanted to leave the manor after 10 pm, they had to disturb the inns keeper to constantly open the front door for them. There really should be a door bell or video monitoring system so that guests can come and go as they please. To feel like you're stuck in your room after 10 pm when you're paying $400 for the room is not ideal.
Other than that, we loved the manor, breakfast was great, staff was very helpful, etc.

Absolutely amazing! I never knew there was a castle in NJ. It was quiet, picturesque and awesome. My husband and I stayed for 2 nights in September, the Innkeeper was friendly and answered any questions. The grounds were beautiful; there were gardens, statues and a koi pond. Breakfast each day had plenty of options. We didn't have any plans on the 2nd day and it was perfect because we spent it exploring everything we could about the castle. I highly recommend, I can't wait to go back.

The staff is extremely kind, and the grounds are beautiful. save some time for exploring!

The grounds are very cool and scenic. There is no bathroom in the bedroom. The bed and pillows are very poor and the room smells like mold.

The front desk person, Vinny, was very kind and helpful. The property itself was beautiful, but the parking lot was a far walk from the manor. My main concern is how they false advertised on Expedia. They advertise free wifi for all rooms, but there was no wifi whatsoever. I have Verizon and my service wasn’t the best in this area, so it wasn’t a great experience on that end. It said online that there was free breakfast and an ironing board available for use (which I needed in the morning); there was no ironing board to be found and breakfast was an additional charge. Additionally, the pictures of our room varied from the actual room in small ways (different bedding, table instead of ledge in front of the bed, etc.) so I think they may have photographed a similar room on the same floor? Overall the venue was pretty and staff were very kind, but the Expedia page is entirely outdated. Make sure to call before you book to make sure they have the amenities you’re looking for.

Absolutely wonderful stay! Rented a goegeous room in the castle for a couple days for husband and I 27 yr wedding anniversary, and we had a blast! Big bwautiful castle with big spacious rooms. My husnams and I stayed during the week and we practically had the whole castle to ourselves!! The Inn keeper is amazing! Lemon water and cookies available all day. Lots of choices for breakfast. Lots of land and garden to walk and roam. This place is beautiful and very comfortable! I'm so glad we got a room in this castle instead of a typical hotel. Are room was huge! Loved, loved, loved. Will stay at again when I come back to this area of the states.

1. There was zero lighting and the parking was about a mile from the hotel, in the dark!
2. There was no WiFI, even though Wifi was supposed to be available and the reception on my phone to call out was zero.
3. There was no egress or access after 10pmET.
4. There was no outlet to plug in the TV when the AC was plugged in.
5. There was a flood in the room above us, causing the ceiling to collapse while we were asleep and followed by a flood of water entering the room.
6. We checked out at 10:30pm, and was assured by the Hotel Manager that we would not be charged, yet we have a charge on my AMEX.

This place is amazing, beautiful, interesting, fun and unique. IT’s IN A BOTANICAL GARDEN!!!

The building is very old and that comes with quite a few problems

The building is gorgeous as are the surrounds. The staff were lovely as well.

I was treated like a guest with a mint on my pillow, a tour when requested, and complimentary treats. The grounds are breathtaking and endless, with lots of trails to explore. Breakfast was on the veranda overlooking the koi pond. Rooms are nice. Bathrooms are shared for base rooms between a few rooms, but you are basically spending a night in a museum, so who cares!

My daughter and I love staying at The Castle! We went for a special trip to sleep in a real castle, as my daughter is very into Princesses. The morning of our arrival, I received a welcome message from the inn keeper Liz, who I was then later able to let know we were running late. She greeted us outside when we arrived, which was so welcoming. Tip: Pull up to the Castle to unload items, then park in Lot A (closest lot). Liz was very helpful in getting us settled and throughout the evening as we needed things; she's very kid friendly. We stayed in the Queen's Suite, which was totally worth the full feel of being "in a castle." I loved that the bathtub was deep enough for me to take a full soaking bath in and also had the removable shower head which was perfect for rinsing my daughter off after her bath. The room was gorgeous- there was detailed wood carved paneling all around and gorgeous outside views. While there were a few not perfect physical aspects (ex. chipped paint in sink), it totally made sense because we were in a 100 year old castle and it helped remind us of the history and add to the feel. The water was instantly hot for us everytime, not sure if we just got lucky with that. In the morning, Liz was ready for us with a WONDERFUL breakfast of fluffy scrambled eggs and fluffy pancakes (as requested by my daughter), obviously both freshly made. We also enjoyed touring the grounds. We loved staying here and will return. Thank you Liz for being such a welcoming host!

Parking was far from building, pitch dark walk. Woman at Desk was not friendly, seemed like we were bothering her on check in.. There was no heat in room, the water in bathroom never got warm/hot...never. Breakfast was nice as was server, grounds beautiful. When we asked woman about a cup of coffee she seemed annoyed that we had to make her get up to show us hot to operate coffee machine. Elevator wasn't working and we had to lug suitcases up two flights to room. No one showed us to room.

This is a beautiful setting, but they should skip the b&b and stick with special events hosting. The innkeeper was inattentive and made no attempt to make us feel welcome or accommodated. When booking a "bed and breakfast" guests expect a hot breakfast, not stale Danish and bagels with lukewarm tea. Ran the water in our bathroom for 30 minutes before we got even warm water - and that only room temperature, not hot enough for a shower. Then we were unable to turn the tap off completely and it dripped all night. The innkeeper was disinterested when we told her the next morning. Left as quickly as we could in the morning to have breakfast elsewhere.

The property is a 100 yr old estate.I didn’t expect a 2022 hotel setting.
I enjoy the castle and it history. I was mildly disappointed in the continental breakfast though.

Absolutely terrible people. Called to move to later date due to COVID. Was told to change through booking company. Booking company never could get ahold of the Castle. Then they charged me the full cost without even helping. I gave more than 24hr notice too. Absolutely atrocious. Would never recommend. Do better by people who are sick beyond their control. Gross

Was looking for something "out of the ordinary" for our trip, and found this was just a little off our route, BUT WELL WORTH THE DRIVE! We LOVE this most BEAUTIFUL mansion! Took lot of pictures! Just wish the elevator had been working - I have bad knees, and had to walk up 48 steps to our room! Still, I'd recommend this beautiful place to friends going anywhere near it!

The setting is so serene ! I was relaxed and very comfortable my entire stay! Kelley the innkeeper is great!

Beautiful property with awful service. Hostile wedding parties blocking entrance to manor. Literally no one on the property after 5pm to help with anything despite text messages and calls for help. 5 guests were locked out at 6pm and we had to wait for someone's boyfriend to come open the main door! No more water out front once it ran out of the small container, no food, no service! Had to get water from the sink! Inn keeper said she'd text back about my order after i finally had to call her and never heard from her again. They don't tell you that parking is a long walk away and the property is not easy to navigate. There were no drapes in the room so I woke up at the crack of dawn before 5am. No pets allowed but barking dog in the next hallway. No closet, hangers, drawers, or nightstand and no outlet near the bed for charging your phone. Shared bathroom which wasn't a big deal but this place is basically a glorified dormitory. Save yourself the hassle, visit for the beautiful property, common building rooms, then leave and get a real hotel. Worst customer service I've ever had. What a shame!

This is a very charming place to stay and I enjoyed it. My only issue was personal for me being a cancer patient I was unaware that parking was a distance and there is no elevator. Luckily there were chairs in the hall so I took a flight with my things and then sat to get my wind back.

Liked that I was able to drop off luggage before my check-in time but wish someone was available to bring it up the stairs because holding luggage and opening several hallway doors was inconvenient. More staff needed.

Stunning castle and beautiful grounds. Room is amazing and very quiet. Only one staff person and it feels very different from the usual hotel. Very few other people here. Parking is a bit of walk away.

Interesting and historic location. Horrific customer service. I booked 6 rooms for a family weekend. They charged me for 7. I cancelled the 7th room 2 weeks in advance of their deadline. Cancellation confirmed on email. Reached out to Skyland’s customer service to explain after I saw 7 charges on my credit card. They replied “it’s hotel.com error not ours they didn’t tell us about the cancellation.” So the $319 charge stays. Um, what? You want me to pay for a room I didn’t use? I’m beyond upset. This is horrible. What establishment nowadays so blatantly refuses to help their guest? Avoid this place! Spend your hard earned money elsewhere.

NEVER AGAIN. This was the strangest most uncomfortable overnight stay I have ever had. The property is in the middle of a botanical garden and very difficult to find. No signs or indication of where to go in. I tried calling the property only to receive a voice mail. Took me thirty minutes driving around to figure it out. The advertisement on Expedia is extremely misleading. There is NO WIFI. Parking lot is about 1/4 mile away and the walk is pitch black at night. Expedia did not mention you would have to share a bathroom with other people. Rooms are opened with a real key and there is no safety/security lock on the inside of the door. Initially I was assigned to room #305 which smelled heavily of urine. They allowed me to change to room #304 across the hall which was smaller and had several little flies. Very poor lighting and the tv was the size of a computer monitor and had five channels. At this point I wanted to leave to find other accommodations but it was dark and I was traveling alone and simply did not feel safe making the treck out to the parking lot by myself. I decided to take a shower so I could leave 1st thing in the morning. The shower consisted of a bathtub with a hand held shower head. The water pressure was very low. I would describe it as trickling. The door to my room had a window that let light in from the hallway making it hard to sleep. Bottom line, I did not feel safe staying here. I paid $190 & felt like I was camping. Visit the garden, stay elsewhere

This was a magical experience.. I was traveling alone and after dark and the innkeeper Rich was so kind and accommodating, helping me with parking, finding a restaurant that delivered to the castle and showing me the grand old library and drawing room and telling me stories of the history of this gilded age castle. My room was cozy and comfortable and next morning I sat in the deep recessed window seat and watched the sun come up over the mountains. A lavish continental breakfast was beautifully laid out and I sat with my coffee and
talked a while with Rich. Then I took a walk around the gardens, came in for a hot cup of tea to warm my hands and reluctantly said goodbye. I will never forget this place. What a treasure.

We’ve always wanted to stay in a castle and here was one right in NJ. The moldings and other architectural pieces were amazing.
