We stayed here so we could get a feel for other areas other than Reykjavík. It was more of a neighborhood rather than a tourist destination. It was a great chance to interact with everyday Icelanders for lack of a better term. We met some local farmers in the bar celebrating the gathering of their livestock for the winter. We learned that the day was a very big deal for them and felt privileged to have been included in celebrating their good fortune.

A decent Hotel, good location and free parking. The rooms are solid but the bathrooms need an update (I’ve stayed in 3 different rooms the last couple of months). Staff is nice, the breakfast buffet has all the basics you would want. I recommend it if you’re looking for a nice stay and not expecting something luxurious.

Great place to stay in a good location. Staff were very organized and made check in a breeze. Nice breakfast.

We had an amazing stay

Kind of odd spot in the middle of nowhere it felt like. Bar at first felt like a hangout for old timers, somewhat worn down, before you discover the rooms behind which felt more like a modern hotel. The room standard combined with the price we paid for our stay makes this feel like an overpriced option, but maybe that’s just Iceland prices.

Staff were great. View was great. Room was awesome.

We were greeted upon arrival by friendly patrons enjoying some libations and our check in was quick and pleasant. We really enjoyed our one night stay. There were three of us and the room was spacious and had 4 twin beds. These were the best beds ever. So comfortable we slept through breakfast. It also had a nice sitting area for watching tv and was convenient located by several take out restaurants. Our room even had a balcony. We would definitely recommend this lovely Hotel Laxnes.

Location is very good. Hotel is old and I can compare it to Motel 6 for room quality. Nowhere compared to the price we paid. In fact, we booked it for almost $500.. one day before the visit it was down to $168 but we couldnt do anything. Room is appropriate for $168 price point. No separate shower. Use shower in bathtub which was very slippery. Uncomfortable beds. Mist check in by 11. If you are late then no backup. Breakfast is mediocre. I do not recommend paying extra for "breakfast package".

This place felt like a motel. Very basic room with no amenities except for a kettle for hot water and few tea bags. Poor housekeeping as no towels were placed in the room.

This was a very nice motel with very clean facilities. They had a very nice breakfast that was included. Classic European style breakfast with soft boiled eggs, bread, meat, cheese and fruit. Also had waffles.

Ideally situated for Reykjavik and the Golden Circle. Comfortable. Friendly staff. Breakfast included

This place was so cute and had so many different/strange decorations. But it was so nice to stay at and the staff was so nice and funny.
The breakfast was just your typical hotel breakfast but still good.

Very friendly and accommodating. Low key and quiet. Walkable to everything you need. Only real complaint is that the beds were very stiff.

This was my 3rd time staying at Laxnes and it is always a joy. Great staff, clean rooms, breakfast spread is very solid. It is easy to get on Bus #15 to get into the center of Reykjavik. Would highly recommend this hotel!

Quirky lovely Motel vibe . Staff friendly and helpful. We were lucky enough to see the Northern lights from our room

The lobby/bar area was comfortable and full of locals, which made staying at the Hotel Laxnes a true Icelandic experience. We had great north-facing windows for observing the Northern Lights, which added to our visit.

Great location! We saw Northern lights from our balcony!

Good stay at the hotel - we had an outside hut. Children found it fun and we all slept well!
Only con was that the shower would overflow so showering had to be quick!
Breakfast was fair, only a few options but sufficient. I'd recommend a stay to others.

Best holiday ever!!!! The hotel was perfectly placed outside of the City, this meant it was quieter, less busy and the views were incredible. The Northern Lights appeared right outside our balcony so we had our own private showing!
There were shops nearby for supplies and seemingly some good transport links (we rented a car) there was lots of parking at the hotel and around jt.
The staff were very friendly, the owner was brilliant too! He took his time to show us around and give us history of the area etc.
The room was big (family room) and the beds were very comfortable, the bathroom was good for what we needed with good water pressure. The room was warm and cozy for the cold.
There was also a fridge and microwave close by outside the room although we didnt use these.
We are planning our next trip to Iceland and we will definitely be booking here jf we can

Close to Reykjavik, big windows for northern lights, very cozy reception bar hall area!!

Owners were so nice, both the woman and man. The location is great, especially with a car. There is a bar in the reception that is lively on weekends and quiet on weekdays, not a problem either way, as it is removed from the rooms. 10/10 would recommend and would love to come back

We had a nice large room and bathroom. A refrigerator and kitchen sink and counter was nice to have in the room. Staff was very attentive. We met the owner and he showed us around. Some of the furnishings are from his grandparents. Large portrait of him on one of the exterior walls. A delightful stay!

It was really run down. Especially for the price. Our door didn’t even lock.

My husband and I had a decent experience. Staff members were pleasant. We enjoyed playing billiards, and we liked our hotel room, though we wished there were curtains that blacked out the light. The hot tub was extremely hot - way too hot for our liking, and we were disappointed to not be able to enjoy, as a result. Hotel does not have a consistent feel, and it was too quirky for our liking. Hotel had arranged for a cab to pick us up from the hotel at 3:45am to bring us to the airport for an early morning flight, though the cab never came, and we were left scrambling.

We booked this hotel day of our stay as we were sick of being in our rental camper van. The only room left was the panoramic Mountain View suite and it was a beautiful and very clean room with the great view! Sad we only stayed for one night.

Nice hotel just off Rt 1. Very nice room, above standard breakfast. Staff was very helpful and I will be back!
