Room not ready upon arrival which was 3 hours after check in time. Only to find that it had been double booked.

Everything you need for short stay, convenient location, quiet. Short drive to DT and major attractions. Stayed 2nd time here. The Cottage restaurant is in walking distance and amazing food!

I don't write reviews. Please don't require me to.

No housekeeping service during the 4 days stay, carpet dirty, rooms smelly.

Friendly staff, beautiful petunias on the walkway made the area smell nice. Breakfast was ok. High in carbs, except for boiled eggs.

Heater was Noisy. Good thing I stayed in summer. Door and frame had gaps and I could see outside. Although after checking around it appears this is the norm for Traverse City, Overpriced Motels.

Staff was exceptional. Went out of their way to be helpful

This is the absolute worst place in TC! The room smelled like there were 50 pair of firsts socks under each bed. The shower did not drain, so you are standing in your own filth. Same with the sink, didn’t drain, TV and lamps were all unplugged inside the room.
Save your $$$. Sleep in your car.

Television didn't work, internet was not useable. No solution to my TV not working other than unplug it and plug it back in. Additionally, there was a $50 fee to check in 25 minutes early.

Manager on duty was so sweet and cheerful. Very professional. Check in was efficient.

AC was too noisy to use. The tub wouldn’t drain. I was up to my ankles in water with a shower. There was no electrical outlet near the desk so couldn’t plug in my laptop. Only two outlets in the whole room. At $345 per night, the worst value in my 50 years of travel. Would never stay here again.

Staff was very friendly and it was easy to get to everywhere we wanted to go. Building and rooms are clean but have dated decor. For us that was not a negative, but FYI if that’s important to you. Walking distance to a great diner and the lake.

Motel staff is very cordial, friendly and helpful. No phones to communicate with other rooms. Internet was unreliable but technician had been notified.

Cozy and secure near the lake and downtown area.

The hotel staff were nice and tried to be accommodating. However, the room didn't live up to the posted reviews of the facility. The heat didn't work, the hot tub jets didn't work (and dripped constantly), air (and bugs) could get in around the door, the area behind the nightstands (where one plugs in one's phone) were filthy, the shampoo and body wash in the shower were empty, and the bed was very uncomfortable. Overall, not my best stay at a hotel.

This is a good option for the price - I stayed one night and had no problems. The room was clean and the property was quiet overall.

Stayed here for one night on 5/25 and now my husband and I are covered in bites from BED BUGS! For over $200 a night this place is terrible. I will never stay here again nor would I recommend anyone else to.

We had to cross a 5 lane busy road to check in and get our breakfast. It was horrible. We arrived at 4:45 and did not get a room until 8:45 and that was only after complaining that we could not wait any longer. We were told 3 times we would have a room in 30 minutes.

Office is closed. Had to walk across busy street to checkin at the HoJo's. Room not ready until 1.5 hours after specified checkin time. Room is musty wet dog smelling. Breakfast across the street the HoJos instead of onsite.

The service was excellent, though it's provided by the Howard Johnson employees across the street. The lobby for the Knights Inn is closed indefinitely, directing you to the neighboring property.
Adam (of HoJo) was very helpful in ensuring that we had refreshed bedding and linens. Our check-in clerk didn't inform us that housekeeping was by request only. We regularly strip our linens and place used towels together for quick cleaning. So, it was to our surprise, when we returned after 10pm to an unclean room and lacked fresh linens.
Adam worked quickly with us to ensure that our needs were met.
The room, 206, left much to be desired. The room itself is roomy; however, that was the last positive to state. It was difficult to maintain a reasonable temperature in the room. The AC set to 72° provided a freezing room that matched as if the temp was set to 62°.
The shower curtain is so short that it doesn't reach the top of the bathtub, then causing the floor to be flooded, with each shower. It's definitely an unsafe environment. Additionally, the toilet leaked, so you're never sure WHY the floor is wet or the source of the water.
Lastly, imagine waking up thinking you'll brew a quick cup of coffee using the generic individual coffee maker, and it spews water all along the mirror, unable to make the coffee.
All in all, I would not recommend staying at this hotel.

Super clean… no elevator so need to climb stairs…no swimming pool in function

Check in was at 3, at 8 we were still waiting for a room to be clean. 5 hours later we finally got a room.

While it was inconvenient having to go across the street to register at the Howard Johnson motel while your lobby was being renovated, we appreciated being able to still use our room. We also appreciated the complimentary breakfast at the Howard Johnson motel.

It was an odd situation. The ceck-in was across the street at a different hotel. I got there at 5pm, check-in is at 3 and my room was not ready. No biggie, they said they would call when it was ready. I explored town a bit went to my meeting at 7pm still no call. I called and my room was finally ready. Got to my room and I was not expecting any thing too overly nice, but it looked clean and neat. However the room has an odd smell. I was just ready to lay down so I did not complain. It was not the worst experience, but not the best either. The staff member at the front desk was very nice and helpful.

My room was very dirty. Looked like the blankets on the bed were thrown on. The carpet was dirty and stained and ripped apart at the bathroom doorway. The shower hadn’t been cleaned and had long black hair in it as well as the rest of the bathroom also. The room had a musty smell. The office was closed and you had to go across the street to the Howard Johnson for office and the worst continental breakfast I’ve ever had.

Ellsa was wonderful - so friendly and professional. Very kind. The value far surpasses the price ... breakfast, quiet, spacious room, very clean, comfortable bed for such a low price!

took forever to get checked in. 3:30 and room was not ready. and it was a lone wait
5.0 / 10.0
Overall the room that was in was the best one that stayed in over the years . (Still can't afford prices in season as to say . Family from area and have been around for last 50 years)
Since last two years still don't understand why you still have to check in/out at a different hotel for your stay, it's just a big hassle and if need anything it's a big run around and also security reasons...

Both bedskirts on the beds were nasty dirty, the mirror had something all over it, the tub had cracks and pieces missing, the faucet in the tub was broken, the hair dryer was broken and when I asked for another they didn’t have one, there was a cobweb in the corner with black things in it in the bathroom shower, and the fridge didn’t work. I have pictures of all the issues listed above.

Had to check in across the street at the Howard Johnson, but other than that, it was a great one night stay. Bed was very comfortable. Great price, also!

No rails in showers or bathroom. All rooms should have these safety features. The photo didn't match the room.
