The private single room had a 6" mattress on plywood. So it was not a particularly comfortable bed. I am also glad there was not a hot day during my stay, as the small fan in the room was pretty ineffectual at putting out any air.
The continental breakfast consisted of bread/english muffin, apples, nutrigrain bars and oatmeal. The convenience of a full kitchen could offset that if you were prepared.
The staff was super nice and helpful.

Nice hostel and very welcoming to an elder person like myself. Non-discriminatory policy was evident. Great historic ambiance. Courteous staff.
It was a pleasant temperature in Sacramento so no air conditioner nor heater was required. We had the windows open to let in the air but there are no screens on the windows so mosquitos came in and I was pretty bitten up by the morning.
It is unclear as to whether they have air conditioning or not.
They don't have an ice machine or ice available.
Nice game room with a pool table, pinball, and foosball machines in the basement.
Its too bad they don't have lounge chairs on the veranda.
Desk was always staffed but a lot of homeless in the area so the front door was always locked.
Very well managed.

Nice first experience in Hostel. A bit noisy (from emergency vehicles and next door) but was not a problem for me.

Went to Crest Theater for concert was able to walk. I live in Yuba City about 40 miles away, just worked will. The Hostel has a rule you must live 30+ miles away.

Omg what was not good about the stay here. The place is beautiful it’s so close to Golden 1 Center if you’re looking for a place near that. The stay at the hostel itself is an experience. If you do not like rules though this may not be the place for you. Kitchen is open from 7am to 10pm which was very reasonable. You’re not allowed food in the bedrooms or drinks other than water, but once you see the rooms you understand why. Such a beautiful peaceful place, with amazing staff. Shoutout to Nova for checking us in and out they’re amazing! Also being from Nevada, we’re very used to hidden fees/deposits this place had none of that which was very appreciated. Planning on booking here again for sure❤️

We love this old house. really amazing all around.

It was great to be in a hostel environment again. They did provide the bedding, 2 pillows, and a towel. There was a continental breakfast. You help with stripping the bed and doing your own dishes. Nice to have option for longer stay to use fully equipped kitchen. There is a fenced lot if you have a car, of course there is an extra charge. The area was quiet enough at night. It is in a business district, and on a Sunday it was very quiet. Would stay here again.

It’s a gorgeous Victoriaan mansion and the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. I’ll come back for sure.

The hotel, staff, and facilities are all great.
Lots of homeless people hanging around in the area around the hotel though.

Absolutely loved the staff and the property….beautiful and relaxing. The area is nice and lots to walk to, there are a LOT of homeless people. The homeless people honestly did not bother us much at all. Would love to stay again and highly recommend.

It might look haunted, but I don’t think it is.
Wonderful place to stay.

Honestly the best hostel I’ve ever visited across multiple cities in 7 states and in multiple cities across 13 countries. It is a gorgeous, quiet, comfortable gem staffed with kind, attentive, and capable people.

Our stay was wonderful, and our host Andrea was as wonderfu, helpful and so knowledgeable. Absolutely beautiful inside, comfortable and quiet. 10-15 min walk to most downtown spots, including Golden 1 and the Capitol. Highly recommend!

Property is very clean and very well-maintained. Staff are friendly. Kitchen, rooms, restrooms, common areas are well-kept. The rooms are closed shut and I could hardly hear any noise even when at one point there were students staying in the house. My main concern was safety and this hostel exceeded my expectations.
Guests during my stays were amicable, kept to themselves and are professionals. They also have space for parking. Will definitely choose this place every time I'm in Sac.

A really cool historical building it's like being transported to the 1800s with better bathrooms

Well located hostel with an excellent breakfast.

Great place! Fantastic location and is one of my favorite locations to stay at

Unfortunately due to Hotel.coms ineffective services I was unable to stay-they were booked. However, the location was peculiar which allowed a full emersion into a time hopping experience. Id recommend this location out of shear awe in its antiquity. The staff was amazingly kind, patient and helpful, seeing me through to getting a room at another location and ensuring I would not be charged. Thank you night staff!

Just stopped by on a whim while I was stuck in Sacramento! Absolutely am so happy I did! I slept so well and felt right at home in the old skool mansion!

A beautiful building built in the 1800s you must see. The interior is charming. The neighborhood is quiet and safe with walking distance to places. The house is absolutely clean throughout. Staff is friendly and helpful. I highly recommend.

Just remember this is a HOSTEL so there's not much privacy. A few weird rules and you have some instructions before you leave. Kinda weird place overall but it's definitely cozy if you're just staying the night. Not bad.

It’s very special and old fashioned place to stay. It is convenient to go to nearby attractions. Staff are nice.

Property is nice, but the location is right behind the city hall, where the homeless camp out unfortunately, just like most cities in California. Smell and noise level inside is much to be desired, as it's an old mansion without soundproofing. I was trying to get more sleep around 9:00 a.m. and, someone was banging the piano and singing out loud in the living room, which is right next to my room. It was probably better on the 2nd or 3rd level, but they only come with a shared bathroom. This is a good place if you're on a budget and a convenient 15 minute ride to the airport.

Its a Hostel what can you say, but uniqe as in a old Victorian house story. Popular in Sacramento, Oakland and many in SF City.

Staff members were extremely helpful and supportive.

Lots of Vagrants around...open air drug use...saw a group lighting a fire near a building...definitely unsafe. Building is cool looking...but 100 years old and smells/feels like it. Woman asked front desk to borrow a phone charger...they said no....I feel like they should invest $5 in a charger people can borrow if they really need it. Weird setup to get in and out as well. Would not recommend.

The staff are helpful. It’s nice to have access to a kitchen. A park is a block away which attracts homeless. The parking structure across the street was cleaned at 10:45 pm on Saturday night. It sounded like a large leaf blower for an hour. I couldn’t sleep.

Beatiful Victorian mansion with a ton of character and charm. I felt very safe and comfortable there and appreciated the private gated parking adjacent to the house. The staff was kind and helpful and it was a quiet and peaceful stay.

The building is beautiful. Definitely has an "antique" feeling. Gated parking is nice. It feels very welcoming

Amazing stay. The breakfast was sub-par. But none the less, wonderful stay.

Amazing historic mansion with a beautiful interior and history. Because the place is historic, it is not well-insulated from outside noise. I stayed in room 22 at the back of the hostel, and it was very noisy beginning at 4 am with the surrounding construction noise and leaf blowers. Because this place is not in a residential district, it isn't subject to noise regulation hours. I used ear plugs on my second night.

It's tasty old mansion at perfect location. The staff are very friendly and they provided what you need. Only i wished was if they use code key pad so don't need to carry key when go to bathroom

I was visiting Sacramento to run CIM. When making the reservation for this hostel, I was looking for affordable and reasonable accommodations for my weekend stay here. With my 1st visit ever to Sacramento, I didn’t know what to expect. However, I have experienced many hostel stays in the past. I am so happy to report that I was blown away by the accommodations and the service provided by staff. This historic Victorian style building is well kept and has architecture you no longer see anymore. This hostel provides spacious rooms, adequate sleeping accommodations and better than timely in getting out the food in the morning and having the freshly brewed coffee ready to go.The staff were all very friendly and helpful in ensuring I had everything I needed. A special shoutout to HI staff member Kira, as she always exhibited an amazing positive attitude and made herself available to answer any questions I had and was great at suggesting restaurants and fun things to do around Sacramento. Thank you so much.
