All in all an ok stay, breakfast was great. Room was small but all ok. Staff were friendly and helpful. Main complaint was that no main bar area open, small lounge open and the staircase on our floor smelt or urine which was very off putting on arrival. At a guess I would say this would be down to the amount of dogs in the hotel on high floors

The room is out of hot water and the shower tray is clogged. I ask the front desk for a fix or change of room at 11:00pm but the night shift manager said he cannot help, cannot change the room because he cannot access the system. I believe it is a lie. And he asked me to wait till the next day 07:30 when the General Manager is on duty. And he suggest me to have a bath tomorrow.
I insist to have the GM for help and the night shift manager threatened me that if I wake her up, she will tell me to pack up !!. I insisted to have her help cos I am desperate. When the GM showed up, what she said is totally disappointed. The help / advice she provided are
1) Blamed me for waking her up at 11:30. But technically it is not me who woke her up. It is her night shift manager woke her up because he could not handle the issue.
2) packed up and go and she will refund me
3) come back at 07:30am but the fixing of hot water supply is not guaranteed
4) A change of room is not guaranteed on the next day.
So, I just pack up and stay at another hotel

We had a couple of maintenance issues with the bathroom. The shower holder was loose, and the lighting was minimal, only 1 of the 3 bulbs were working. As a result of the poor lighting, the cleaning staff failing to clean the shower properly.
Due to the lack of maintenance staff in the evening, I assisted in the replacement of one of the bulbs, as the concierge would have needed a step ladder to do it. However, despite these challenges, we had a great time, the staff were exceptional, very friendly and helpful, and the biggest plus for us was they were pet friendly. The night concierge was particularly friendly and extremely generous toward our Border Collie, Bodger, who in turn appreciated all the treats. With a bit more investment in the fabric of the building, both internally and externally, the proprietor will have a great little business on their hands.

Checked in, went to room someone already in there. Reception quickly apologised and 20 minutes later found us a room. Room fine but bed very uncomfortable and cobwebs in windows.Breakfast was really good but quality of coffee was weak and tasteless.

Hotel is disgusting, carpets in the rooms look like they haven't been cleaned in years with stains everywhere. Bed very uncomfortable. Damp stains in the roof. Much of the hallways look like they are falling apart.
Everywhere in the hotel stinks of mould and damp.
Overall disgusting and very disappointing.
Photos look amazing… rooms look nothing like this

Close to tunnels beaches.

The place is exactly what it says on the tin and the price reflects what you get. I would say that the blonde lady on the front desk is an angel and most helpful to me flying in from Barcelona for a wedding at tunnels beach. She is the best.

Very noisy throughout the night , doors banging toilet flushing in room above was very loud . Could do with some serious sound proofing ! Staff I encountered were very polite and friendly .

This was our 2nd visit and one of the receptionists recognised us. We were treated well. All staff were friendly and helpful. Room was pleasant although this time we had a view of the backyard. Only criticism is that a large coach party arrived on the Monday, and as thete is only one very small lift we were unable to use it as it was full of cases.

I cannot fault the friendly, helpful staff; the hotel is lovely with bars and dining and is close to the beach and harbour. The room was great, with probably the comfiest bed, tea and coffee facilities, TV and a small table and chairs. However, as a 62-year-old male, I have to be honest: I was a little disappointed with the en suite bathroom; it was a little tired, had no fixed shower and had a small continental bath. Set this aside I would recommend this hotel as it offered good value for your money

The hotel is old and needs to be updated. The carpets are worn, everywhere needs painting and the amenities updated. There is insufficient parking onsiteand the windows in my room could not be opened!

We tried to check in at the hotel only to be told they had no booking for us as the room had been cancelled, following a slight debate and showing proof of booking and payment they eventually accepted our booking. However we were down graded to a twin room with 2 single beds.
We were very disappointed with the room as the carpets were dirty and stained and the square toilet had a round toilet seat that was badly fitted.
We made the most of our stay by spending as little time in the hotel as possible as due to it being bank holiday weekend we were not left with many other options.
On a brighter note Breakfast was reasonable and the waiting staff were fantastic.

Large hotel doing B&B at a reasonable price. Very central to Ilfracombe with easy walking to Tunnel Beaches and the Harbour. Very few parking facilities but Jubilee Gardens car park is close by - busy in summer. The room, facing the street, was in fact very quiet.

Excellent check in Friday night
The bed was uncomfortable while checking out Saturday morning the man and lady on the front desk were extremely rude talking about me while I was looking at the things to do in the area stand
I will not return

Booked as a last minute stop off, really friendly staff, breakfast was lovely, overall though the hotel is a bit tired but for the price more than acceptable.
I would stay again as a single guest

The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Staff at breakfast not so good. No spoon to stir coffee, no separate knife for butter and as it was our first stay we had to ask what to do.
