Staff were friendly and service was good from them ,room was a bit dated but warm and comfortable
5.0
comfortable, we have visited several times this year.

Nice stay very comfortable though could do with a revamp a bit expensive for what we got
4.0
Comfortable and convenient.
Dining options within are limited, but other options are available.
Special mention for Murray, the night porter, who dealt very efficiently and effectively with a crowd of exceptionally noisy and unruly Chinese students whom were partying into the early hours. Top marks Murray !

Comfortable room with excellent view of the main street of Strathpeffer

Just stayed for one night, room was freezing had to ask for a heater, right next to a squeaky hall door which opened every 20 minutes, mould all around the bath. The receptionist was lovely but needs updated window sills were crumbling.

The hotel's position overlooking the spa and its gardens is fabulous, and the public rooms present a beautiful Victorian ambience.
Despite a restricted evening menu, the dining room served superb food, and the staff provided excellent service. This was a very positive aspect of my stay.
When one arrives late during the weekend, car parking problems arise, as I experienced last Saturday when all regular parking spaces were occupied. This forced me to park on a grass verge within the premises.
On the negative side, the central heating in the allocated room did not work, so the hotel manager switched rooms for me. Further, as an arthritic 84-year-old with a bed that was as hard as a rock to sleep on, the experience was most uncomfortable.
However, I understand the hotel is undergoing a comprehensive upgrade. I am confident that the result will be excellent and the Highland Hotel will return to its former glory.

All in all the stay was ok. The room was a bit small, but clean.

Lovely overnight stay. Used a lot for coach trips. Really large room and great breakfast.

Old hotel in need of tender loving care.hair in the bath. Blood stains on the bed. Grossly
Overpriced.

The Hotel appearance was nice but it seemed to have been cut down on staff and and choices. The room we had was very basic and not all that clean

Restaurant was booked due to a bus tour. Hard to find place to eat.

This has the potential to be a grand boutique hotel. The price is fair for what it. Is currently a nice hotel close to Aberdeen. The breakfast was very nice. Staff were all nice.

This is a huge old mansion converted to a hotel. It has a quirky charm and was fine for our needs for a quick stop.
8.0
Parking was a bit limited, but I was still able to park reasonably close to the entrance

This was my second stay at this hotel. Staff friendly. Hotel room was nicer this time though smaller and made a difference. The only bad thing was the low pressure in the shower. Overall the hotel is definitely a little tired in places but would stay here again.

No food available @ 7.30 . Despite being told resteraunt open until 8.00

Well priced but the hotel could use some love—mattresses were very hard and it felt a little rundown. Loved the small town, wish we could have visited a spa but didn’t have time. The parking onsite was also difficult for arriving after 9 PM.

Helpful staff and looks like work being done to renovate the beautiful hotel.

Average overall. I stay here fairly regularly and have noted that the quality of catering is waning. The range of foods on the menu and at breakfast time is extremely limited and the quality is fairly poor. No porage, no fried eggs, no fruit or fruit salad. And why is it that people on 'bus tours are served bowls of red berries when those paying full tariff don't have access to such ?
Management need to have a think about improving the value for paying guests.

Spacious room, but tired. Nice towels. Shower alternated hot /cold, no control. Felt very historic in a nice way. Easy parking. Lovely staff. Dinner menu was ok. Breakfast was good.

A most pleasant surprise in the heart of the highlands. A gracious old building, welcoming staff, great rooms and good food all came together to make for a great stay. Would have liked to have spent a bit longer, but have flagged for a return visit once retired. Strathpeffer was a total surprise and made for an even nicer stay!

We booked 3 family rooms - one room looked good, one was not bad and the last one was like an old college dorm room with a very dated bathroom. The breakfasts and dinners were good and the staff was friendly and helpful. We liked the bar and lounge area and there was entertainment on one evening. Overall a good value for the money and an enjoyable experience

A very nice old hotel with great nature around. Could feel the history

Booked 2 twin rooms. The first one was very small and felt extremely dated, however the second one was huge and airy with a very nice view of the village. The reception was next to the common area and there was live music when we showed up making it very hard to understand what the hotel staff were saying. Overall I guess it depends on your luck what type of room you get

Very helpful and friendly staff, comfy beds, it was a short but pleasant stay

The Highlander is an historic hotel in a stunningly beautiful location. With huge proportions and lovely detailing, her past grandeur has dulled but character remains.
I would love someone to inject some cash for refreshment into her, she's worth it.

The main bar area is really good. The rooms are average and could do with an update. A bit overpriced

I don't like leaving negative reviews... so we'll start with the positives - great location, friendly staff and bags of potential. In reality, this hotel is very tired and of a poor standard. It was probably the 'place to be' in the 1980's but it's not been updated since. Our room at the front of the hotel had a lovely view (well done Scotland), but inside the room was a different story with big patches of mould from a clearly leaking roof and very basic amenities - if they are renovating, this definitely wasn't one of the newer rooms. The twin beds were comfy enough, and we had a TV, but no remote... despite asking twice, we didn't receive a remote in our 3 day stay so the TV was needless. Breakfast was passable but basic (although the coffee was quite grim). The main bar area / atrium was huge but run down. It's such a shame because it could be wonderful... get an investor, spend some money and this could be a boutique hotel in a fab location and lovely outlook. But in its current state, I can't recommend - it feels cheap and old with minimal effort to maintain a decent standard.

Tired Victorian hotel - unfortunately breakfast was limited and unremarkable definitely worth eating elsewhere - looked as if staff had put out half of what would normally be available (no yogurt, fresh fruit etc.) fried breakfast was fairly cold and staff not willing to prepare poached eggs to order. Room was fairly standard with soap dispenser not working properly and one of the most uncomfortable hotel mattresses I have ever slept on.

My stay in the hotel was unremarkable.
The food was okay, as was the room. It was alright as a place to put one's head down for a night, but it was way over-priced for what was on offer.

Bedroom old looking very grubby hotel has not seen paint for years partly painted in bedroom but generally dirty looking fortunately bed was clean
Room was not cleaned during our stay
Could be very nice place if owner bothered to tidy it up
Obviously relying on plenty overspill from inverness to fill rooms so don’t worry about condition of rooms
I believe there are a few nicer rooms for vip

Pretty nasty. Room was really not clean at all. Floor was dirty and looks like only the centre of the room is ever vacuumed. Sheets had crumbs all over it and the bed was not even made properly. Even the cups for drinking water were dirty. Just all around felt like a dingy room. Water pressure in the bathroom is non existent.
