Self-serviced, staff is not helpful, I booked rooms plus meals for 5 people but hotel staff said only include 4 people and did not try to help me clarify with agent

The hotel is pretty nice and super friendly staffs but no taxi service, very very limited restaurant around the hotel.we had to walk to restaurant but well everywhere is hills.I don't know maybe July is not the season,so most of restaurants closed early.you should eat dinner before you visit.or there is only sushi(omakase restaurant inside of hotel.closed 8pm.
But the breakfast is good

The hotel is nice as ling as you take a room at the new building and not the main one.
Rooms at the main building have poor air condition.
The staff is not that friendly.
The location of the hotel is far from almost everything. Taxi is needed to go anywhere but - there almost no taxis who are approaching the hotel area.
Careful with that especially on your checkout day if you plan the time to catch a train from somewhere. We had to walk to the local train station and to postpone out shinkensan train to our next destination.

Lovely hotel, tattoo friendly if you cover the tattoo in the public onsen (hot spring). But the hotel has private rooms with onsen water to them

The Dinner was good but took forever...

It is on the expensive side, but overall we had good experience in the hotel. It was a unique experience where we had to take our shoes off when we enter the hotel. Our room had the private onsen, and we loved it. The staffs were very friendly. Their breakfast also has plenty selections.

The hotel is clean and quiet. However the dining choice is limited and the transportation is s not that convenience. Cable car stop service earlier and shuttle bus service is very limited.
I booked a room for up to 4 people and I marked that we are a group with 2 adults and a child at 13 in my booking. However, I was told that I need to pay the additional fee of about yen 39,000 for my child. The extra cost is unexpected and is not stated clearly in advance. After rounds of negotiations, the officer at the reception agreed to cut the fee down.

Staff was pleasant but did not seem to be happy that we were staying there. Meals were tasty. Shuttle was limited. Staff could not tell us the best way to get to the hotel. Hurray for Google maps. Staff did arrange for luggage to be sent to the train station.

Overall 6/10. The biggest plus was the open air bath, which you could adjust the temperature for, and had a nice view. The front desk staff were not as welcoming as I would have expected, and did not seem to want to explain things further. i.e. if I asked about the shuttle bus, they told me to refer to the tablet. The dinner was nothing special, but they do give you a different menu if you stay more than one night. The facility was clean however many of the equipment with metal in it had rust and mold on it which was unsightly to see, especially in the shower. The shower also for some reason did not go above a lukewarm temperature despite being turned all the way to the hottest setting.

This was such a beautiful place, I loved the private bath in the room and the dinner and breakfast buffet was delicious

Shutle to train station was not provided as promised

There’s two buildings. The new building is all self check in meaning you have to scan the passport yourself. I personally found that annoying after paying quite a bit of money for the stay. After check in, no one tells you anything including where the dinner/breakfast is at or the public onsen is at.
There’s a shuttle service to Gora but you have to reserve it way ahead of time. We messaged the hotel and got no response. We have two young kids with two luggages, and that was a bit of a walk.
Also, if you stay more than one night, don’t expect to get your room clean. Apparently, there’s no room cleaning.
On the positive note, the dinner and breakfast were delicious. Beds and blankets were very comfy.

Amazing hotel! The onsen in the room was really nice. Everything about the hotel including all the little touches were nothing but 5 stars. Really nice for a special weekend away.

It’s relaxing area but don’t expect any shops nearby. Get what you need before your arrival. Shower area needs a bit cleaning. Overall, it’s clean and quiet for your vacation. It’s a good place to meditation

Limited items at the gift shop.
Not enough amenities.
Kinda disappointed for the price and service.

I really liked this place! I booked a room with a private bath, and it was a treat for myself, as it was very expensive. But I found, though was the bathroom, had dark splatter, and just general filth on the wall, which I was quite surprised at, considering the room was very clean otherwise. It really threw me off and it made me feel like it wasn’t worth the almost $700 I paid for the two days. The staff were great. It’s a very difficult place to get to. I wish they had told me that they had a shuttle bus And which metro station to be at but they didn’t I had a really long walk in the dark trying to find it on my own. A word of warning as well. They keep the place extraordinarily hot. I’m Canadian, and I found that 20° was too hot in the room and I couldn’t control my AC settings which I found upsetting, and the hotel itself was just kept at an astronomically hot hot temperature so if you like cold and if you want to enjoy your Spa bath this might not be the place for you because it’s very hot

I think the hotel provided great onsen experience. I like the in-room onsen. The food overall is OK, more western style than expected. The only complaint is this hotel is not very convenience and flexible to their bus schedule especially in extreme weather. Probably need to get a bigger bus or more frequent to drive hotel guest to Gora station.

If you're visiting Hakone, I definitely recommend Laforet Hakone Gora Yunosumika for even a night. Though it's a splurge, it was totally worth it. We slept and dined like royalty -- the rooms were so clean and hip/trendy! Our dinners were delicious and memorable, too. The staff was also extremely kind and offered lots of amenities, like shoes and yukata for using the onsen.
The public and private onsens were top notch -- and so relaxing after a week of traveling.
The hotel's located not far from some charming mom-and-pop shops and konbinis, too -- but the hotel basically has everything you might need during your stay.

Avid walker. Hotel very nice

Staffs are friendly. The hotel is very old, the room is too dark.

Staff and service were excellent! Also enjoyed their breakfast buffet. Room was nicely appointed and spacious.
Laforet is located in a little hilly tight road location and walked to the hotel is about 7 to 15 minutes from Gora station. There was a shuttle in the morning to take us back to Gora station.
Overall, I will stay again at the hotel when I visit the Hakone area again.

Hotel was great maybe a little on the old side. Staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. The private onsen was amazing. It was really hot outside and unfortunately, the AC was not strong enough to keep our unit at a very comfortable temperature.

Beautiful property, great restaurant and very helpful staff. After staying in an oversized closet in Tokyo, the room at Laforet seemed especially huge. Just a great stay! I’m

In case you arrive at Gora later than 6:30, you have to walk uphill for 20 mins to reach the hotel. So make sure you arrive the hotel before 6

Great place to stay.

The outdoor private onsen was exactly as advertised and was very nice, however not much of a view and it looks like someone just scrapped off the foggy glass shading. There was quite a bit of mold around all the outdoor shower and tub areas but I suppose that is to be expected with the outdoor amenities? Otherwise the room was spotless and really nice.
