Better than expected for an airport hotel. Walking to shopping is a plus. Very friendly staff. Our car had been in storage for a while and wouldn’t start. The maintenance man came out to jumped us which was very nice.

My stay was short but i needed a couple of things that most hotels provide, i needed to be picked up at the airport but since it was 11:10 pm the shuttle quit running at 11pm .so i had to pay $40 for a mile and a half ride to the hotel . I would have just kept my rental car but the hotel charges their guests to park a car overnight. I asked for a shuttle ride to the airport at 3:30 am for my flight was at 5 am but the shuttle didn't start til 4 am .so i had to get a ride with lyft . Lesson learned. I will never stay at this hotel again. I've always had good services from Holiday Inn express, but it seems that this one would rather charge their guest for every dime they can get out of them .

It is a great hotel, and very convenient to the airport. However, before I booked my stay, I called the property and asked when the shuttle service ran. I was told 24hrs. When we arrived, the sign said 4am. We had a 5 am flight and needed to be there before 4am. Would not have booked if we knew it started at 4am.

The hotel was clean with good security. Room was clean, all pillows were very soft rather than a choice of pillows. Breakfast was adequate but not great. Didn’t see any hard boiled eggs, yogurt or muffins at breakfast buffet. Overall this is a clean place ina very convenient location. Lots of loads of pound airplanes over head and was on the 2nd floor!

I fly to PDX fairly regularly. I've stayed at several other properties in the vicinity, but this was my first stay at HI Express. I can say, with no qualification, that this is not only a great value, but the best property, period, in the local area. First, cleanliness is off the charts. I mean like so spotless I can't believe it. Way cleaner than many high-end properties that I've stayed at. So clean I'd let my mother stay there. Second, staffing quality. From front desk to housekeeping to breakfast servers, everyone was super polite and pleasant. Third, amenities. The breakfast buffet is really, really good. Hot food like eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, waffles. Add in yogurt, cereal, pastries, breads, fruit. Hot coffee and water available 24/7. A nice selection of beer and wine for purchase. I didn't use the gym or the pool so I can't comment on that, but I took a peek and everything looked fine. Fourth, room. Quality pillows and bedding. Plenty of electrical outlets. Coffee maker. Central cooling and heating. Blackout curtains. The bathroom has an exhaust fan (!). Walk-in shower with plenty of water pressure. Fifth, location. The airport shuttle is obviously important, but the property is also literally adjacent to the light rail station if you ever need that. Kudos to the franchise ownership group for their investment in the property, and to the team for making my stay a perfect one. This is my new home at PDX.

Paula Sue and Pierre were extremely helpful with everything! When I needed an extra blanket they had it to me in less than 5 minutes. When I asked for recommendations on wineries… they had a ton of recommendations! All of the staff was great!

It was disconcerning that the Front door was locked and I could not get in at first to check in. All doors are locked and it was a little confusing how to open the front door without a room key. I think the front desk opened it for me, not sure. You have to call the hotel to get the shuttle from the airport. Hotel is in a fairly good location. In the Cascade shopping area, within a walk from the hotel to shop and get food. Target is next door and a light rail station. Room was spacous and comfortable.

Checked in and then returned the rental car to the airport terminal. Hotel shuttle never came to get me despite calling 2x. After an hour gave up and took an Uber back to the hotel. Young man at desk apologized but said he was alone and could not come and get me! Severely understaffed, this person was the only employee I saw for the rest of the night. Bad management.

The free breakfast was great (options) but the refilling of the foods (when it was empty/finished) was kind of slow. The communication of how long it will take to refill was also not very good. We were there around 9am. They only refilled the pork sausages once during that time and it wasn’t even a full tray. Keep in mind that there were others waiting aside from my family of 5.

Didn’t stay in room because mold on bathroom grout & bathroom floor around toilet not cleaned. This was only room available. Front desk willing to refund our $440 but because we booked through Expedia, they needed permission from Expedia to refund our money. Expedia said they were unable to contact hotel management, therefore we have to pay for a room we did not stay in. We will never use Expedia again. Be aware that if you book a room through Expedia that is unacceptable they will not support you & refund your money

Rooms were comfortable and very clean. Kids loved the pool! Only thing was the lady at the front desk was a bit rude. She “greeted” us by saying, “You can’t park there! That’s for elite members!” First, we didn’t even park there. My BIL parked in a spot next to the elite member spots. The spot he was in wasn’t even labeled. She never said hello, welcome, or even apologized.

Had a problem during check in. The hotel had assigned me a different room than what I had paid for. Thankfully after contacting Expedia they switched me to a different room. The hotel itself is pretty nice. Comfortable bed, nice TV, blackout curtain and easy access to Portland's MAX system. OK breakfast. It could use more variety plus a waffle maker (instead of the tiny pancake machine).

King bed was short. I'm 5'11" and had to either sleep diagonally or with my head basically against the headboard to keep my feet from hanging over the edge a little while sleeping on my stomach. My room was apparently near a commonly used exit, which made for a lot of noise beginning around 6 a.m.
