Place was dirty and baldy taken care of. You could tell did not spend too much on maintenance. Tatami sintetic mats where worn off. Public bath was in bad shape and dirty. They have a foot bath which is closed due to lack of maintenance and you could tell it has been for a while. Gardens where not maintained properly with weeds all over the place.
It's really a shame because the place has potential.
I recommend paying a little extra in one of the neighborhood hotels so can have a pleasant visit to such a beautiful town.

It is difficult to find this place but the room I got is very large with bath tub

Getting to the hotel was quite hard and options for eating outside of the hotel offering were nonexistent.
The room was spacious and offered everything promised but it was located on an area of the hotel that didn't have elevators, the public spaces all had a really strong humid odor.
It was an ok experience, but not sure it was worth the price

The place is amazing as long as you keep I'm mind that everything around for miles closes at 5 pm and busses stop at 7:00 depending on your location. The hotel staff we're super helpful and genuinely happy to help. Breakfast and dinner at the hotel was wonderful. Private onsen is great to experience onsen but privately.

This place seems on the cusp of closure. Almost as though it’s been forgotten. Crusty. Mold. Water soaked floors a wallpaper everywhere. The carpets in the entire hotel were stained and dirty.
First room we were offered was so dirty I had to request a new one. Second room was on the 3rd floor (no elevator) and my dad is 73.
Staff was kind but obviously stretched way too thin (front desk employees double as waiters/buffet attendants).
It’s not close to anything so you’re at the mercy of the breakfast and dinner served on site.
Personal onsen in room was DIRTY to the MAX, so was the comforter. Honestly would have left this hotel if I wasn’t so tired.
But do consider that the entire area seems just as run down as this hotel. But the ropeway and pirate ship were nice.

It’s a such a good place to have a quiet and relax vacation. I could only to stay one night, and wish I could stay longer. Highly recommend to book a room with private bath and all meals included.

The carpet in the halls was dirty and stained. In the room there was dust over a lot of stuff.

Not much around the property (food/dining), a bit difficult to get too.

This property was amazing for the price, the staff were friendly and the private onsen was great!

Dirty spiders in the room in room Onsen not very hot and the recirculating pump to keep the water hot was not working steep dangerous stairs. No elevator to the third floor and had to carry heavy bags up t the third floor. For an international hotel many of the staff didn’t speak English or even attempt to. un advised extra charge for the use of the in room Onsen that we paid a higher room fee for. Only one microwave for everyone in the hotel to use and yes it’s on the first floor for guests staying on the third floor not convenient.

Never again. It was the worst hotel in Japan I’ve ever seen. Don’t even know where to start. Perhaps, that we were accommodated in the room with broken and leaking onsen. On reception we were told “once you take a bath, don’t let out water”. Well, thats interesting. We are curious and tried to do so and onsen was leaking badly. Obviously, because of bath full of water overnight and sewage system not working properly, the smell in the room was SO bad, we all felt sick immediately. To open windows, we needed to ask reception staff to help as they were opening from behind of the bath so you need to step ON the bath and open. Ridiculous 😅 Beside of the smell, the room is super worn. Two spots on the wall were just painted on with white paint. We felt like living in the abandoned room. Moreover, there were spiders. Not just one tiny spider but a bunch of huge creatures coming to visit us one by one and in pairs. My child could not properly sleep all night as was terrified. To be honest, me too.
And well. The staff. Not helping, not professional. For all comments they could only say “sorry mam” and smile. Not making a tiny effort to improve the situation. Moreover, the property does not have an elevator. And our room was second floor. I’d expect someone to help with luggage but not in this place. Just watching with wonder how we were taking suitcase to the room.
Hope this will give an idea of what this hotel is like. I wish I could read this kind of review before booking. It was m

Absolutely gorgeous property. Not too difficult or expensive to access via a bus from the Odawara shinkansen station. The rooms are huge, there are a million places to sit and relax, the hot tubs are amazing and fill pretty quickly, the public bath is spectacularly peaceful and gorgeous and is also pretty big. The dining options were plentiful too.

I was very pleased with our room, and in-room hot tub. The room was clean and spacious, and most importantly in 0° weather - warm upon arrival. The front desk was very courteous. You may want to bring your own sodas and/or beverages as their vending machine in the lobby is limited.

Great hotel for the value. Very friendly staffs. The location would be a draw back if you don’t drive with your car. You can get to the hotel by bus which is highly recommended but the service is not very frequent.
Note that taxi or other car share services are basically nonexistent.

I came here with my sister after a week and a half of traveling to different locations and we wanted to relax at this hot spring.
The staff was really friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed the private hot spring in our room. This place is far from town and is surrounded by trees so don't expect any stores. It's a really good place to unwind and relax. Very quaint and tranquil.

Was ok to stay over 3 nights, too many stairs to climb and no laundry

Far from restaurants and main road but it was a great value for a hotel with private onsen

Good for the price. Small public bath but no one else was in it so rather relaxing. Buffet breakfast was small and limited, but it did the job. Hard to get to, no restaurants open for dinner except 1. Last bus around 7-8pm. Lots of hills. Staff were nice.

The Hotel itself seems kind of outdated, but it was still a pleasant stay. The room was spacious and the in-suite bath was as expected. The staff were very friendly and accommodating.

This property is meant for locals who drive. For foreigners like me, it is not near to anything and you need to depend on public bus at a specific timing to fetch you to Togendai Station. Walking time is about 30 mins and it is not possible during winter time.
All rooms do not have any view to Lake Ashi or Mt Fuji. Rooms are pretty big and clean with private onsen in the room which give us the flexibility to use it anytime. It comes with private bath and toilet, a major reason for booking this hotel.
Buffet dinner and breakfast, nothing to wow. Reasonable and ok for us.
Front staff is friendly and helpful in answering all my queries.
Overall, this hotel more suitable for locals who drive.

Very comfortable and clean, very nice staff . Some may find a little out of the way, but walking distance to Ropeway, Lake Ashi etc, we loved our stay here.

Good place for young family, like with infant: very casual, reasonable, private onsen bath tab in the room. Not so good for us - matured family. The onsen bath is completely visible from room, no privacy. The room was small. Understaffed; though they were working so hard to accommodate the full housed customers. If you have children under 5years old and want to have a very intimate and relaxed family onsen time with low price, I will suggest here. But avoid the weekend. This place followed by OWALIDANI where was so much traffic in the weekend. There is a bus. But it was crowdy like morning train to Tokyo, if not worse. We will stay somewhere nearby train station next time.
Oh, the room was SOOOO DRY! I couldn't sleep.

Had a great time at this place. The staff don't seem proficient in English but anyone with basic Japanese should get by fine. Room is nice and big, and the private outdoor bath is really cool just as a decorative element even if you don't actually use it. Food was quite high class even if not exactly the freshest or best executed. Shuttle service available for getting back to transport routes.

After a few day of shopping in Japan, we were tired. The in-room onsen help us to recover from tireness. A leasure walk around Togendai area was refreshing and relaxing. Hakone Yumoto is the main area of the district, where you can buy souvenir and taste different cuisine. A very enjoyable trip outside Tokyo.

My stay at the hotel with my girlfriend was very relaxing because of the professional helpful staff, comfortable beds, and onsen style bath. The staff had a functioning level of english making this a recommendation from me to any english speakers out there. I could see bigger people who are taller than 58 having a difficult time with the bathroom because it is very small and the toilet seat isnt very big at all. The local area around the hotel isnt pedestrian friendly so you need to have a motor vehicle if you are to stay here. Overall I enjoyed my stay and I hope to go back during winter if I can.
