Our stay was amazing. We loved the traditional Japanese breakfast and the staff in charge of the 5th floor were amazing, especially the gentleman that would set up our room every afternoon. So polite and helpful. My kids loved that there is a little play room near the lobby

Love the private bath.

Our stay in Hakone was amazing. Hotel Suimeisou room was like a traditional ryokan with a tatami mat room with separate toilet room and shower which we really liked. While we were out for dinner, they set up our room for sleeping. The private onsen on the balcony was heavenly! The next morning, the Japanese breakfast was delicious. The hotel was very close to the station with lots of shops and restaurants. We would definitely stay here again.

Booking information doesn’t show meals are included in the booking price. Surprisingly, breakfast and supper are included, which makes the price exceedingly worthwhile. Japanese traditional meals are delivered to our room at the time designated by us. Delicious and fancy. We stayed for 2 nights, so 4 meals in total. Every meal is different. The best hotel we have ever stayed! Highly highly recommended!!!

Onsite Japanese breakfast and dinner was amazing; more of an experience than just a meal.

The location is great, near to the train station and accessible to everywhere. It is located in a small alley nearby the main street. Finding it was easy.
Food was good. Love the hotel.
Will stay again if ever I have the chance.

Everything was fantastic and staff were very kind

Convenience transport, very close to train stations, staffs are kind and helpful. On the other hand, ventilation system should be enhanced because food smell always remains in the room even my first time enter the room.

Located right next to the station. The staff were very friendly and offered to let us keep our luggage there before check-in. The traditional food was also excellent and plentiful

Booked a private bath in our room. It was great enjoying an onsen like experience in your own room.

It was generally a good experience with its location just opp the train station n many eateries except that the pic reflected during the time of booking looked diff fr what I had booked with a much bigger space with sleep area on elevated floor, so was a little disappointed when it looked diff.

We had a great time at this unique property. Nice view, lovely town.

Highly recommend this property for being extremely convenient to walk to (even with luggage!) from Hakone-Yumoto station. Good transport options to get to other parts of Hakone too. Staff were accommodating and polite. There was a good traditional vibe and opportunities to eat kaiseki meals, yet was not lacking in creature comforts (lifts, aircon all available). Awesome view of the river, and private onsen was very affordable.
Only thing that I might suggest is having greater accessibility for non-Japanese speaking customers to understand and enjoy the traditional Japanese way of staying in a ryokan (e.g. explaining the components of the kaiseki meal, how to wear yukata etc.). Perhaps more signs or translated instructions for staff to hold would help both staff and guests out.
Overall, highly recommend this as an accommodation for Hakone.

Excellent location, only a 3-minute walk from the train station. The private onsen bath is very lovely and the staff are helpful.

It was a wonderful experience I’ve ever had. The staff is so kind and supportive. Maybe some people could feel their privacy had been invaded due to culture differences during their stay. However, it doesn’t mean that the staff isn’t nice and kind. I am sure that if you acknowledge and embrace the culture differences between your country and Japan, you can fully enjoy a Japanese traditional ryokan and their kindness.

Great dinner and breakfast with half board. Booked the room with private open air bath and it was worth it. The view is beautiful with an artificial river. You can listen to the calming sound of the river while you soak in the onsen. Should have spent another night there.

Great location close to the station. in room onsen was great but people could literally see you from across the river.Breakfast and dinner were inclusive but was only average.

The kaiseki dinner in the room was delicious and ample. Our room was beautiful with a view that faced the river. We also paid for the private bath, which had a great view of the river. We added an in room massage which was relaxing.

The hospitality and service were above and beyond! Fantastic attendance to care of making me feel at home and bringing my luggage into my room while I was exploring Hakone when I checked in before the room was ready. Highly recommend the tatami-style rooms as the view was spectacular. I had forgotten something of great sentimental value to me in my room hours after I checked out. The host manning the Expedia account was able to message me very promptly and arrange for my item to be mailed to my next hotel in Japan. Thank you!

Great hospitality. Beautiful private onsens.
Smaller size rooms.

I like it having classic Japanese room. The room is of decent size. The facilties are a bit old. Most staff there can not speak English, so to understand the instructions on how to eat Japanese food can be challenging.
