Our sty at Masseria Santa Lucia was very comfortable. We had some difficulty finding it from the highway, but once we arrived, all was good. We received good recommendations for dining options both inside and outside Matera, as well as great parking and touring directions from Enzo. We enjoyed our stay and would strongly consider returning.

Such a wonderful place to spend a few days

Our stay at Masseria Santa Lucia was okay. The accommodation itself is very nice. We booked the Deluxe Suite and were amazed by how nicely newly decorated it was, with high ceilings, lovely bathroom with luxurious shower and comfortable bed. The swimming pool looks equally stunning with modern beach chairs.
However, that experience got overshadowed a bit by the unfriendly welcome. The lady who welcomed us was clearly not in the mood to give her guests a warm welcome. That’s a pity for the quite high price we paid. The rest of the staff was nicer, yet not to the level of other accommodations we booked for our Italian trip and where we paid much less. Furthermore, I asked two times in advance via the booking platform how I could book the guided Matera tour they mention in their services, but didn’t got any response, although they contacted me via the same way for check-in.
The breakfast is served in the patio, which is a nice spot, yet very warm the moment we were there (mid August), making us feel very sweaty already from the breakfast on. Last but not least, the hotel is situated somewhat in the middle of an industrial area, which doesn’t add to a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Luckily we had a car, which resulted in easily being able to visit Matera, otherwise a taxi would be needed, I think, since we didn’t see any dining options in the hotel itself.

This is an excellent place to stay when you have a car. The grounds are clean and well cared for. The pool is excellent and breakfast in the morning was a good Continental mix. The immediate area around the place is industrial but easy to get to. If you have a car (recommended) it is easy to get to from the highway. It is 10 minutes to the downtown area and parking is very convenient. We had a great time and were able to relax in the middle of the day at the pool while exploring town in the morning and evening.

We visited this hotel as part of a road trip and a base to visit Matera. The hotel is very clean and well kept and the staff extremely helpful, upon arrival we were given a list of recommended restaurants and shown all the best spots to view the wonderful historic city which was a great addition.
Our room was clean and modern and very quiet. We had a covered patio with a table and chairs. The bathroom was big and well supplied and the bedroom was very comfy and clean.
The hotel has very safe parking and a pool with bar that were well kept and very clean.
Breakfast was hosted in the reception and outside in their courtyard, it had everything you could ask for and was a lovely stay we would stay again.

the hotel is extremely beautiful, the room was modern and comfortable, it was easy to go to Matera atractions...the only problem was concerning the breakfast...few options, with lots of sugar...being a hotel of that level and price they could really improve this...

I must say it was a truly delightful experience. This hotel is a hidden gem, located just a 9-minute drive away from the historical town of Matera.
The service at Masseria Santa Lucia was nothing short of exceptional; staff made us feel incredibly welcome. The attention to detail and genuine care they exhibited truly made a difference in creating a memorable experience.
One of the standout features of this hotel is the historic building itself, which exudes charm and character. The rooms, designed in a cave-like fashion, perfectly blend the historical elements with modern comfort. The attention to preserving the historical character while providing all the necessary amenities was impressive. It felt like stepping back in time while still enjoying the conveniences of contemporary accommodations.
The hotel's pool area deserves special mention as it is absolutely gorgeous.
Breakfast was included in our stay, which was delicious with a lot of options.
Thank you so much !

The pros; the place is beautiful and the pool is fab if the weather is in your favour, especially after a day walking around the town. The room was huge and clean, very comfortable bed. The onsite restaurant is good. The staff are super helpful, friendly, and accommodating. Drinks are a good price.
The cons; the room was very warm at night and the air con only seems to blow warm air, so not the best night's sleep. Also the shower was really bad water pressure, difficult to have a good shower. Breakfast was very poor, there is a lot of room for improvement there.

Room was basic with no tea/coffee making facilities, poor in room Wi-Fi, a small TV with no English channels.
Room not sound proofed enough to exclude the sound of the barking guard dog or car transporter at the neighbouring car rental compound, nor the sound of a noisy family in the room next door. The room was ill equipped in other ways too - three pillows and one cheap plastic cup in a double room for two people. We also had to request toilet rolls which were forgotten on one day. The in room air conditioning is good.
The hotel is in the middle of a industrial estate. It is visually well screened once you are inside the gates, but traffic and other noise can be heard. It is only 10 minutes drive from the historic centre.
The pool man is surly and he allows furniture to be reserved for the whole day even when not in use. We ordered a sandwich from the same man and witnessed him spending 15 minutes on his phone before starting to prepare our sandwich. The pool is open to non residents, so became very busy at times.
We found communication very difficult with a number of staff members who had very little grasp or understanding of English.
We had very slow service in the restaurant by inexperienced staff who spent a lot of time on their phones. One phone even rang in the pocket of the server at our table! The food was v good, although served on plastic plates, but we cancelled a further dinner booking because of the service and attitude of the servers.

Very good hotel, clean and very friendly and helpful staff, told us about a range of places of interest to visit in the city

Tastefully furnished and well laid-out farmhouse. You really wouldn't expect to find such a piece of tranquility in an otherwise industrial outskirt of the city. The real highlight for us was the restaurant which featured fantastic artworks. The guy who served us was very friendly and helpful and the food was a very high standard.

Beautiful apartment located right downtown next to all Matera has to offer. Everything is walking distance. The apartment is beautifully designed with every amenity we needed.WIFI is great. Our host Nicola greeted us with coffee and was on hand to take care of any request we had. He even arranged for a masseuse to come to the apartment for my girlfriend. There are a few other apartments within the property all with separate entrances and although they where occupied we could not hear the other guests. We highly recommend this property.

This property is beautiful!!! It is not located close to the Sassi

Outstanding! The owners are extremely pleasant and gracious. And they have created a beautiful experience. It's a bit distant from the historic center, so (if you don't drive) you will need to plan your transport. At first I was worried at the distance; but in the end, I was so happy with this location. The proprietors are ready to answer any questions or advise if asked. Lovely service, beautiful rooms and outdoor courtyard. And each room's outdoor seating are a special treat when recovering from a hectic or long day.
