Was a great stay

The lodge was adequate - nothing to get excited about. If you're looking for a place to just spend the night, then it's good. The bed was really comfortable and the room was clean. No ameniities - found the office on the day we were leaving and check in/check out was done via the keypad on the door, If we came back, I'd probably choose a place closer to town where you could walk to restaurants. Speaking of food, the Tidewater Taphouse and The Flamingo were fantastic restaurants!

Looked brand new!

It was nice having a full kitchen. Safeway is approximately 3 miles away

The Spruce Lodge provided a warm comfortable studio suite. The facilities seem reasonably new, were super clean and prepared well. There is no real signage to guide you into the property. They are building another lodge in behind the current one. The self check in worked well, even for us old folks. The coffee building was not open for our use. The lodge is slightly out out of town, but but within minutes of downtown Seward. I would recommend this lodge.

Great stay. Could use signage off the road

You need a car to stay here. There are no restaurants close. Christine from the lodge was nice and picked us up in Seward after our tour and showed us around she is amazing. It is just far away from things. The surrounding were beautiful!

Easy in and out. Would like to have stayed longer

Everything was great! They are still under construction but didn’t interfere with out stay

We were disappointed the coffee shop wasn’t open. Otherwise, a very comfortable stay. When construction is finished, this should be a lovely facility.

Owners were very responsive. Seemed to really care that you have a good experience. It is a little out of the way but nice view of the mountains. They do need to put a sign out front, so it is easy to find. We had a very good experience.

Self Check-in was very convenient. Room was very clean and spacious.

Great place to stay a bit overpriced. Our room had stove and fridge but had only 1 pan no pots or lids or anything to really cook anything!

The property was clean, and modern, I was suprised it had a kitchenette. The property was close to town, easy few minute drive.

Self check-in and an espresso stand on-site was really nice and convenient. Staff (including doggos) were friendly. The walls were quite thin and the doors kind of slam shut, but luckily everyone was quiet after about 9:30pm.

New, clean facility…easy check in and check out. Friendly staff.

Overall the place was convenient, clean and quiet. The bed was comfortable. The bath was very nice. The location is very good if you want to visit Exit glacier.
We had some problem finding the place (didn't see any sign on the road). Self check-in went smoothly.
The kitchen was OK but had very few cooking utensils.
There is no front desk. We sent an email because of some issue and didn't get a response. We did get the help we needed after talking to the staff at the adjacent café.

Although Lodge wasn't easy to find (because of lack of sign on main street and ongoing construction on property), our room was quite nice, newly updated I'd guess. Location is about 2 miles from downtown Seward -that’s good more than not. Location is about 8 miles from parking lot for Exit Glacier. Bed was a bit soft but after 3 nights, I had no back ache from it. Kitchen was complete with cooking equipment and eating utensils. Saved us money to be able to cook meals. Would stay here again. Recommended.

Im so happy to be able to share this experience. If you are going to Seward and want to stay at the best Alaska hotel this is IT. The room was great, (keep in mind if you get a second floor theres no elevator). In room nice bathroom (NOT at every hotel in Seward most are shared) Very clean, nice TV with wifi that was good. A kitchen with dishes if you want. The PEOPLE are so sweet and couldnt do enough for us. I forgot to give them my time of arrival so I had called when we got off the train and they still were able to send someone right away to get us. This is not walking distance from town but not far. It's far enough to make it feel remote and alaskan. The vibe of this place is top notch. They even have a bonfire pit that we did use! They are building a second building but that was NOT an issue and we were on that side. This place is out of sight now. I cant imagine when they get the other one done it's gonna be a destination for weddings etc! They have a nice little coffee hut in the morning, super cute. I looked around in town and was glad we chose to stay there! Some in our party are super well traveled over the world and felt this was one of the greatest hotels they have stayed in-just the entire vibe of the place! I read some other reviews, if you are looking for a 5 star cement palace, this may not be it for you. If you want a really nice, fresh, friendly place, alaska all the way! This IS your hotel, you wont be disappointed.

Comfortable, newly renovated and decorated room. New appliances and equipment. Only suggestion might be hand rail in bathroom beside shower.

Nice room! Clean and a new check in experience via text message/email. You get a code to enter your room.. nice little coffee shop on site with good coffee. Very nice lady gave us two bear spray containers free… great since we saw 3 bears going on the top of Harding’s ice field and Exit Glacier.

The property has some buildings under construction. It wasn't noisy but there was some building materials on the ground. Not really an issue. The room was clean and neat. There is a coffee shop on property. We had breakfast and coffee there. It was very good. The staff was friendly. If you have transportation I would give it all fives. When booked it said they had a shuttle. They have had issues with the shuttle and now you either have to take a cab or make other arrangements with them. They do charge extra for transportation now. The website has been changed to reflect the change in shuttle, but when we booked it said they had a shuttle that took you most places. We were not made aware of the change until I called the week before to confirm reservations.

Overall, the property is just fine. But what was quite annoying was that we could hear the footsteps of our neighbors upstairs a lot. Also, the way that hotel is laid out it's extremely inconvenient to have to walk so far in order to get to a room. Likewise, the parking is not good at all. And there were no signs out on the main road to know where to turn in. Took a little bit a hunting. The room was real hot even with the temp turned off.

Spruce Lodge is beautiful, love our stay there. The only thing is the time we check in they don't have the shuttle available and dining is limited in the area but definitely a nice hotel for the money

We stayed in the Fireweed cabin. This 2BR, 2BA was excellent. It was nice and quiet in the woods, and there was a coffee shop a few feet away.

MY husband and I stayed 4 nights in the FORGET ME NOT CHALET. We normally don't ever right a bad review but this chalet needs a little work. The entry way and floors were very dirty upon arrival. We like to cook our own food and this was one of the main reasons we booked this place. Silverware and supplies need to be restocked. We only had 2 forks, a beautiful grill...but no grilling utensils, no hot pads, etc. We did call and they brought us 2 more forks and a toaster upon request which we appreciated. We can adjust to all that & make due but the worst part was the lighting...there was NONE in the kitchen and only 2 small sconces on both sides of the TV and the bed. There was a switch in the kitchen that ran nothing. We called to see if we were missing something and were told the only lighting is on the microwave! They had a beautiful gas stove and we eat late so cooking was not fun! I again made due by prepping earlier in the light but no kitchen lighting is a bit ridiculous. There is a spot on the ceiling that is covered like there was something at one point but who knows. Another thing that was missing is a table to eat your meals. There is a comfy couch and that's it. Usually not a big deal until you have a steak and a salad and no where to put anything down. Only our opinion but I would ditch the big couch and bring in a table and chairs. Place was quiet & staff was amazing! OWNERS PLEASE put some time into a good clean, stock & lighting to make your guests more comfy!

Great place to stay. Just far enough away from the hustle and bustle of Seward to still be convenient. Also located close to Exit Glacier. Extremely clean and accommodating for 4 adult guests. We stayed in the cottage called Fireweed.

Great rooms - comfortable beds, kitchenette, good sized bathrooms. The hotel is a few miles out of Seward but there is a good restaurant across the road so if you don’t want to drive (or have your own food) you have a place to eat. It is self check in which initially was a bit confusing but then I found the email with clear instructions. The floors could use a good scrubbing- they looked clean but walking in bare feet resulted in very dirty soles. Overall I highly recommend.

My only grip is they need to replace the mattresses. They are used up. Everything else about this place was great!

While it was strange to have a check-in process which doesn’t involve actual speaking with anyone, it was relatively painless. Shuttle service was very accommodating and helpful. Very friendly staff. Awesome people.

Great place. Nice and new. Comfortable bed. My only wish would be having a ceiling fan.

the door lock combinations were a pain. the tv was bad no major networks. no paper towels or kleenex. no way to regulate temp in the room.

Great location & Quiet! Unit is row house, our unit was the end, with valted ceilings & no one above us. Bright & very clean, with beautiful Mtn views. There is a Coffee Espresso hut on site. Property is on the road to the Exit glacier, & is directly across the road from The Salmon Bake restraunt. The restaurant was great, good portions, quick service, open late. Exit Glacier is very close within a couple of miles down the road. Would stay again.

Our stay was fantastic! It was nice to have a kitchenette to do some of our cooking and we were only a few minutes away from Seward so getting into town was a breeze. The room was very clean and we felt very secure.

Brand new building. Checked ourself in and out electronically and had to hunt someone down to get clean towels
