About the property
This quirky, character cottage is tucked away in an enchanting spot surrounded by woodland, lakes and fields. At the bottom of the garden, there's a babbling stream, the sound of which will soon send you into a blissful state. This magical cottage was once an early 19th century gate house and is now a fantastic place for a family to enjoy a countryside escape amidst nature. Whilst utterly charming in every way, there is every modern convenience you could need too, including an EV charging point and a Bang & Olufsen sound system. A pleasant walk down the lane will take you into the idyllic village of Nether Compton, while Sherbourne and Yeovil are only a 10-minute drive away.
The space
This detached cottage is refreshingly secluded (with no neighbours to be seen) and beautifully furnished to a very high standard.
It sleeps up to 6 guests across three bedrooms. One king size bedroom and two twin rooms. Plus, there is a snug/playroom, with a pull-out bed, that can be used as an additional bedroom.
The cottage also has two bathrooms, one en-suite shower room with the master bedroom and a separate family bathroom. Plus, there is a downstairs washroom with WC and a washing machine and tumble dryer.
Get cosy together in the sitting room and snuggle up for a night in front of the TV or play a family board game from the selection provided. There's also a Bang & Olufsen speaker Bluetooth sound system and WiFi.
Cook up family favourites in the kitchen/dining room, which is well equipped with an oven and hob, a fridge, freezer, microwave, toaster, kettle, coffee machine and dishwasher. Then devour your feast around the dining table as you chat about your plans for the next day's adventure.
Outside, there is a private garden with a patio and decking next to the natural spring, stream and a lake. It's the perfect place to relax on the garden furniture or dine alfresco. The garden is fully secure for peace of mind when travelling with dogs and children.

Picture postcard property. Very comfy beds and good layout. With beautiful weather the garden was a dream.
We felt let down by the lack of communication from the property management. Attention needed in the cleanliness of appliances and health and safety of guests.

This property is an absolute dream! It looks like it fell out of a fairytale and has all the modern conveniences inside. It would be a place we would go back to again and again except for one feature that we struggled with. There’s a sump pump outside that continuously makes a loud noise. Like a grandfather clock but louder and more frequent. Although a bit irritating during the day it was trying to sleep at night that was the problem. If you’re a sensitive sleeper it’s something to think about. If you’re not, don’t hesitate to book this property as it is a heavenly escape in a beautiful part of the world.
