The property was in a state of disrepair, and it is noted the property currently has a “For Sale” sign, providing some understanding of the cause of the very poor state of the rental. Areas below acceptable standards were as follows: 1. Spiral staircase to top bedroom unsafe. Top handrail is unsecured, and a pole fell out one night while the stairs were not in use. Very dangerous. 2. Central heating – the ground floor rear bedroom had no heat at all, the radiator in the bedroom and the ensuite failed to warm at all, leaving these rooms uncomfortably cold. No adjustment of TRVs or Lock shields resulted in fixing the issue, the system needs overhaul. 3. Blinds completely missing in bedroom – view from bed level open to the world. Had to improvise privacy using a blanket. Velux ceiling blind broken 4. Missing guttering meaning heavy rain all week resulted in pouring water day and night. Really poor from a basic build maintenance, and very noisy (video attached) 5. Rear of the property unsecure. The lower Velux Door locking mechanism is broken, and can be opened even when locked. (see video). This was very discomforting. 6. Ensuite shower broken and in poor state 7. Lighting was terrible, with high percentage (more than half) of bulbs missing or broken – counted 22 broken of 38. 8. TV in the lounge was broken, bright blue. No amount of settings changing could change the screen. Felt like we were watching the Smurfs for four nights.
