We had a wonderful stay at Sophia Studios. Ricardo was the best host. He was helpful with our luggage and gave us good recommendations for restaurants and how to travel around Coimbra on foot. He made dinner reservations for us. His help made our stay wonderful.

Excellent location with easy access to cultural activities and transportation. They also accommodated us by safeguarding our luggage and placing it in our room when it was ready because we arrived before the 3pm check in, so we could explore Coimbra.

Location was great - everything walkable and close (waterfront. dining, car rental, train station). Staff was very friendly and helpful. There is a kitchenette (everything needed). The units are small (bed, shower, area to get around the bed), and no elevator. We stayed 3 nights and would stay again.

Great location close to historic Coimbra. Be sure to explore the many alley/side streets nearby. Wonderful clean, comfortable, well appointed room. Be sure to have breakfast at O Croisant and an espresso at Santa Cruz Cafe, both just steps away from the front door. Lots of stairs to see the best of Coimbra so bring your walking shoes

This hotel is facing to the street. It is too way noisy especially at night, ie people yelling, cars passing by ….. we can’t sleep all nights. One more drawback was hot water was just good for one person for shower. The next person needed to wait for hours. If you are planning to come in winter, you need to think twice to choose this hotel. The owner takes forever to respond my inquiries.

This property is conveniently located next to tourist attractions, food, and shopping, and is walkable from the railway station. The studio was equipped with all the amenities required to stay. The only downside was the lack of space to open the suitcase.

We loved our stay in Coimbra made even more complete with our accom at Sophia Studio. Our unit was compact but no complaints here as they accommodated our request for a change to the 1st floor (knee injury) and helped us with our luggage, both coming and going. The Studio was brilliantly positioned near the Old Town squares, clean and quality. Charming hosts.

The room was very small and kitchenette uncomfortable to use due to tight layout. Staff, when visible were nice. Parking is remote and given traffic, not so easy to load/unload bags. Clean, close to main square and many shops close.by

We had rocky start because I did not receive email with check-in instructions and I did not realize that until I was at the front door and unable to enter. Hotels.com bot was totally USELESS, but once I got real people on the phone, the customer service - particularly from Angel - was first class. Bots suck. Useless. Disservice to customers. Real people solve real problems.

The property was great. We walked to it from Station B carrying our luggage and it had just finished raining. The room was beautiful, and had nice amenities including fridge and stove, a great shower, and excelllent air conditioning that you could set. We quickly found excellent bakeries within walking distance, great coffee shops, reasonably priced restaurants with delicious fresh food, and a wide variety of places to drink or get gelato - all within walking distance. The hosts are very good at explaining things or telling you where to find a charger for your cell phone, etc. Coimbra is a lovely city with a friendly vibe and there is music everywhere at night. What a wonderful way to live. (P.S. Get sturdy walking shoes or close fitting sandals, and sunscreen. The sun is powerful there, and you might buy a beautiful Portugese hat to help with temperature control.

Our room was fantastic, it had a very comfortable bed and a great shower. The kitchenette was equipped with everything for our stay of 6 days. Ricardo and Andre were super hosts. They provided us with information on walking tours, sites to see and great restaurants. We will definitely stay there when we return next year.

Awesome place to stay in Coimbra. The studio was spacious, clean, and had very nice amenities. The place had been fairly recently built out, so it was very fresh. I interacted mostly with Ricardo, who had amazing food and experience recommendstions. He is very compassionate and cared about my comfort. I'd definitely recommend staying here and will stay again, should I find myself in Coimbra again. (This was one of my favorite locations in Portugal).

Excellent central location, across the street from the Sao Bento train station.Lots of breakfast places just as you walk out front door. Apartment is larger than many of the others I have stayed in in Portugal.Very clean and looks newly renovated. Even though it is in an are with high pedestrian traffic, it is very quiet inside. We could not hear any noise coming from the streets.

Great location, close to Santa Cruz and some good shopping just beyond. Thanks to Ricardo who was on site most days for advice and assistance. The university is just up the hill. Overall, we were very satisfied, but we did have a couple challenges. They said the best parking is at the market which is just around the corner, but it's a construction site right now and you can't just leave the vehicle. It was better for us to park at the Convento São Francisco just across the river which is free, for now. No vehicle, no problem. The room was a bit small, and we ran out of hot water a couple times. That's it for the challenges. Great place to stay for a couple for a few days.

Unassuming blue door on a bustling street leads you to a sparkling clean, comfy, modern retreat. Could not be a better location for exploring the historic center on foot. And an excellent pastelaria right next door. The street is too noisy to leave windows open at night but they are double paned with wooden shutters blocking out all noise. And the AC worked perfectly. I’d recommend this to anyone except someone who can’t do stairs.
