Puzzle is moored in an ideal location; great for a weekend stay in Ely.
Nothing to comment on here

Well located close to the centre of Ely, plenty of restaurants in easy reach and in the centre of town. Peaceful mooring, with parking available nearby. Close to train station (~5 minute walk). Narrow boat is modern and very well appointed, with heating for those chillier nights. Kitchen fine for preparing light meals, safety equipment complete, including lifejackets.
None of these points were a problem for us, but you might to bear in mind: If you want perfect peace and quiet, you might not like the proximity to the train line, but the noise is barely noticeable inside. Steps must be negotiated to arrive and alight. Great for couples and maybe for families with young children. Would be a squeeze with more than two adults.

Beautiful narrowboat, greeted with chocolates/wine/milk/teabags/coffee pods! Really clean comfortable place would highly recommend

Was absolutely perfect stay on Puzzle. So quiet and peaceful with a perfect location. The wine and chocolates were very much appreciated. The boat had everything we needed. Having breakfast with the swans was amazing and we enjoyed just watching the boats go by. The location was great, close to everything and some great riverside walks.
Getting access to boat may be tricky with mobility issues.

Location was such that we could walk to everything we wanted in Ely, e.g., the Cathedral, Tesco, etc.
After the chemical toilet cartridge was changed, there was a smell in the boat that was mildly unpleasant. Access via scaffolding laid across floating docks was precarious.

The boat is moored within easy walking distance of Ely town centre. It's nicely fitted out inside with a pretty well equipped kitchen. The porthole "cushions" are very effective at blocking the light out!
We stayed during a very wet week in December and so with the heating on a fair bit of condensation developed. There was no WiFi and the phone signal is practically non-existent. The latter is of course not the fault of the owner but something to bear in mind if constant contact is important to you. The TV signal was a bit iffy too but this was probably weather related.

Location, pubs, restaurants and very friendly people
The bikes, scooters and boxes all over the walkway to get to Puzzle

This is a pretty narrowboat that's fitted to a very high standard and is moored in a quiet area of the Ouse riverfront. The host was very responsive and there was someone who waited for us and showed us around the boat, made recommendations for going out, etc.
Ely is a lovely city with plenty to keep you busy for a weekend getaway.
People need to be aware of the canister toilet - perfectly serviceable with the right expectations. We were aware of it, so it wasn't a problem at all for us.

Very comfortable stay in a beautiful location.

Another different form of accommodation crossed of our wish list.
An experience not to be missed. Exceptionally well designed and equipped, offering comfort above expectations.
Perfectly situated on the river close to pubs and restaurants with a short stroll to Cathedral and town centre.
Check in was well organised with Garf on hand to explain the intricacies of a narrow boat. Private parking was close by.
Would certainly recommend for couples looking for a new experience.
ps. Welcoming wine and chocolates were much appreciated.
Nothing not to like.

Brilliant location. Lovely accommodation. Ely really pretty place.

Location is great, peaceful but with visiting swans and plenty of chatty dog walkers. The boat is really well equipped, I cooked on board four nights out of seven. Having suffered the cramped bathroom arrangements of other boats, Puzzle's is a real pleasure - spacious shower, good layout and everything works! Bed really comfy and sofa adequate if you occasionally need to create space between you and a snoring partner! Ely is a jewel and also a great base for exploring this part of East Anglia. The better food options are in town rather than on the riverside.
Not the owners' fault but the wifi in Ely is very poor and we really struggled to get a signal so "wifi in public areas" needs to be read with caution. Given the circumstances - Covid etc - we needed to be able to maintain contact with family and business whilst we were away and it was difficult to do so. TV signal was also very variable, screen pixelated etc.

We loved our stay on Puzzle. We had everything we needed on board and it was actually more spacious than it seems in the photos! Such a lovely, peaceful weekend!

Location is perfect. The boat is very well furnished, and has all equipment.you would need.
Managing the loo capacity
4.7
The Puzzle Canal boat was a luxurious and cosy place to stay on our first trip away from home for over a year. The boat is beautifully finished with wood flooring throughout and most of inside the boat is also finished with wood. The fur rugs by the bed and the sofa were a sweet touch.
Throughout there is a surprising feeling of spaciousness and comfort. It was a joy to cook in the well-equipped kitchen whilst looking out at passing boats. The bathroom is bigger than on any narrowboats we’ve stayed on previously with a large shower cubicle and powerful shower. The toilet took a bit of getting used as it was the first time we’ve come across a cartridge loo but no problems at all.
The bed was slightly harder than usual but I slept very well and it was a joy to take breakfast out to the front of the boat and enjoy the views of the river and make the acquaintance of friendly swans and ducks! Bliss! Afternoon tea after visits further afield were also a treat outside on the boat and it was an incredibly relaxing, peaceful and healing trip away.
The Puzzle was meticulously clean, especially important and reassuring during present Covid times. We appreciated all the cleaning products left in place which is not often the case and always handy with a hairdryer.
Staying in such an unusual place ensured the trip had a fun sense of adventure.
As stated in the description, the access to the boat is rather tricky and something to keep this in mind when booking the boat.
Many thanks to Martin for his prompt and informative help at all times when making the booking. Thank you also to Garf at The Boat Yard for showing us around the boat. Furthermore it was helpful to be able to leave the car at the boatyard.
Just to note that although we had no problems boarding the boat this might not be the case for everyone.

The perfect setting for a memorable romantic getaway.

We couldn't of asked for more. We planned to go for a meal but once seeing the inside of the boat it would of been a shame not to spend as much time as possible in it. Martin was amazing very helpful and everything you would ever need plus more was on that boat And feeding the swans was a highlight from the kitchen window Thank you for sharing your boat with us. We will defo be back
There was nothing at all. The place is amazing
