Comfortable and clean
We were in the downstairs unit and we could clearly hear the people in the room above us moving around which disturbed our sleep (they arrived after 11pm at night and left before sunrise). Also, the room was very cold when we arrived. All of the other properties we stayed at had the rooms pre-heated for our arrival. This would have been a nice touch.

A little cottage placed in the backyard of a property. It was very clean and had a new bathroom. The kitchen facilities were very limited. The afternoon sun beams into the cottage and it makes it very hot. When we entered the property at night it took 3 hours to cool the down and there was no fan or A/c to cool the room down. The bed was reasonably comfortable and the pillows very flat. It had a TV but we didn’t use it. The property communicated well and left a key in a lock box which was easy to operate.
The temperature in the room. A fan would have been helpful. Limited kitchen utensils.

Location was very good. Room size decent. But would like to mention the kitchen - even though shared it was very very clean and you will find more than you will need.
Had no contact with the host.

Travelling with 2 teenage children, the deluxe family room with separate room and twin beds was really handy.
The common kitchen is well equipped, common dining area nice.
The location is quiet, so we had a good rest after a day trip to Milford Sound.

Close to the lake
No windows in the room, ceiling was low and it felt like a cave. Cold despite it being summer. Mould on the entrance door curtain and shower curtain. No tea and coffee facilities, bedding was substandard and kept falling off in the night.

Great location. Tidy, comfortable beds. Great parking. Great shared kitchen with everything you could need. Nice outdoor area and laundry. Perfect for our 2 night stay.

We got the check-in date wrong after a last minute booking and they were able to accommodate us at no extra charge.
WiFi is non-existent in the outside room and weak in the house.

Great location, walking distance to town centre and restaurants. Lovely shared kitchen and living space which are really well equipped. Gardens are well kept and the room was comfortable and spacious. Excellent communication from manager. We’d stay there again.

It's a great place to stay. Everything is very clean and the bathroom is bigger than in my own house. Parking is easy and shops/restaurants are at a walking distance.
I decided to stay longer to enjoy my holidays.

Very clean. Well organised. Owner very helpful. Location and price very good. Suited our purpose perfectly. Was set up for disabled people and in that way was excellent.
Nothing that comes to mind.

I really liked the kitchen and living room.

Clean and comfortable on the outer edge of town. We stayed 2 nights in 2 different rooms. It was quiet and comfortable for the night.
We never received a response from the owner after asking a few questions. We had to make other arrangements.

Walking distance to shops and restaurants. Quiet on the edge of town.
Bed was uncomfortable and we never received a response from the owner after asking some questions.

Location fabulous. Clean room, comfy beds and pillows. Staff very nice to deal with. Combo box for the keys.
Nothing really. We got what we expected.

Comfortable bed. Netflix available. Good wifi.
Feeling a bit in a remodeled basement. Not one chair or table in the room. Batheroom including shower with sort of marble floor that was extremely slippery when wet! And it was a handicap accessible room! We never saw anybody. It gave us the feeling that the owner was more interested to make $$ than to provide accommodations that create memories.

The room was on the lower floor of a converted house. The ceiling was low and we could hear other guests moving about in the room above. I had to call the host to get the code for the key box.

Convenient location only 15min walk along lake to the city. Room was small but comfortable. Bath tub in a bathroom is a big plus after all day hiking. There is also separate big common kitchen with all sorts of utensils. Parking located at the back of property. Nice quiet spot.
Could be a bit cheaper.

If you are a lover of vomiting and disgusting smell AND INSECTS, please stay in this motel :)
The Kea by the Lake motel got vomiting smell. I stayed in a room on the ground floor which had no window. The entire room smelled of detergent. The toilet was even worse and had an awful odor. The car park, previously converted from a garage, was located right in front of the ground floor room without any barriers to protect against cars potentially running into it - a very dangerous situation. Additionally, there were insects everywhere (INSECTS PHOTO attached). I do not believe this hotel meets min standards for accommodation.
The ground floor room is nothing but containing filthy smells.
Only windows are located in toilet. There is NO WINDOWS in the actual room.
Vomiting and disgusting air circulating in the room.
MY ADVICE - DO NOT STAY IN THIS MOTEL.
Very funny, the host even marked my stay as "NO SHOW" in his system with booking.com
After I presented booking.com with my bank statement showing the charges, booking.com then sent me a link to do this review.
It further displayed how disgusting and conniving the host was.
It was the WORST accommodation ever stayed.

Location was good.
Was expecting kitchenette. Nobtea or coffee or sugar. No milk. But noisey empty bar fridge. No toaster in the room No cups!

Location, large renovated bathroom, shortbread a nice touch
Some people would prob like more block out with the curtains

A great little place that is more like having a room in a house. Not too far to walk into town, with a lot of privacy and a nice little outdoor area to relax in at the end of your day.

Check in was easy, close to the lake for a nice walk into town. Quiet area.
Beds were a bit soft and bouncy.
We didn’t realise it was a shared kitchen/dining but it worked ok for us and was quite spacious. Perhaps make it clearer on the description.
