This hotel offers refined luxury but with a lovely homely, cozy feel. It's a little bit quirky due to the age and location of the property, which makes it extremely charming. Everything is very good taste and I'm glad to say that there's not a horrible little UHT milk carton in sight. We adored the peacock, pea hens and guinea fowl who roam the grounds and in Summer it must be glorious to have a drink or two at one of the numerous tables set outside amongst the trees. The bed was sumptuously comfortable, although next time, we would book one of the rooms with a King-size bed, as that is what we are used to at home. The food is absolutely delicious. We had breakfast and dinner during our stay and both were exceptional. We would definitely love to come back.
We don't eat meat, which can be tricky, so always check the menus before we book a hotel. The sample menu on the website had several vegetarian options on the dinner menu, so we were a bit disappointed to see only one starter and one main course option on the night we dined. However, the lovely staff member who served us, did go to the kitchen and the chef offered a couple of extra veggie choices, but they felt like a bit an afterthought so we declined. This is nit-picking though, because the Mushroom Stroganoff we did order was so good that my husband used his dessert spoon to (noisily) scrape the extra sauce off the plate.

The room was spacious and the grounds were lovely.
Exceptionally rude receptionist/bookings manager (older guy). I would absolutely recommend avoiding this hotel because of him. Even though the other staff were very pleasant, he created a horrible atmosphere.
The bedroom also smelled of wet dog.

Breakfast cooked to order. A magnificent choice of fruit, meats, etc.
Choice of special dishes on dinner menu.
Whilst the access roads to the hotel are easy to drive other roads in the immediate vicinity are extremely narrow and have very limited visibility needing great care to navigate.

BREAKFAST WAS VERY GOOD BUT SERVED ON COLD PLATES, BED AND PILLOWS WERE VERY COMFORTABLE.
VERY QUIET LOCATION.
NO LOUNGE AREA, ROOM WAS DIFFICULT TO GET TO DUE TO SMALL STAIRCASE AND LOOKED VERY TIRED.
SHOWER HANDLE CAME OFF IN MY HAND AND WATER DID NOT ALWAYS COME ON WHEN
YOU TURNED THE TAP OR SHOWER ON. FISH AT DINNER WAS TOUGH. IRONING BOARD NEEDS REPLACING URGENTLY.

The onsite restaurant food was exceptional quality and menu was very well thought out. We really enjoyed our dinner experience.
The hotel room did not have good wifi signal in the bedrooms.
The hotel room was a little cold, as the heating was only switched on during the evenings.

Comfortable spacious room. Fresh cold drinking water. Nice bedding. Clean modern bathroom.
Poor shower pressure.
No small window to open for fresh air, just french window onto balcony (OK for summer)

They double charged me, I had paid via Booking.com. but they took the money a second time from my credit card after i left , and then the hotel refused to admit an error, even though Booking.com confirmed i was correct, and the hotel had drawn down the money from them. Still waiting for a refund money a month later. Terrible customer service. I would recommend everyone to avoid
Having taken payment from me twice, once from Booking.com, and an unauthorised deduction from my credit card, they simply denied they had the Booking.com money, even though Booking.com confirmed they had drawn it down. They were rude and dismissive

the staff and property were fantastic. booking.com sadly had a glitch on the webpage selling the hotel for the wrong price
booking.com advertising the hotel into the genius scheme. They misrepresented the price by 100 pound. sadly booking.com are refusing to acknowledge this despite stating there’s a problem with the website.

Staff were very friendly and had everything ready for us when we arrived. The rooms were well-proportioned and the facilities were excellent. We had lunch there and the food was very good.

We ended up with a lovely room (the first offered in the attached cottage was dated, gloomy and due for renovation, though it did have a kitchen and sitting room, neither of which we wanted or had expected). The food was truly exceptional and the staff really friendly, helpful and attentive, particularly when I became ill during the stay. I can't thank them enough for looking after me the way they did.
Advertised as having an EV charger (one of the main reasons we chose this hotel). As no prices advertised, we assumed it was free for guests to use, only to find out that it was a 3kwh charger for which they were going to charge £2.30 per hour. This would have taken at least 20 hours at a cost of over £46 for what would have cost us £2.40 at home. Very slow and extremely expensive. Needless to say we had to make other arrangements.
