About this cottage rental
A unique and beautifully designed artist’s cottage full of original and interesting features, with an idyllic, sunny and secluded raised garden. It is situated in a quiet lane close to the Barbara Hepworth and Trewyn gardens, and is only two minutes stroll from the main cobbled streets, restaurants, harbour and sandy beaches.
It has two good sized bedrooms (one with a double bed and one with two singles), and comfortably accommodates four people. Both bedrooms look out over the garden and sea beyond. The cottage has been stylishly renovated with a light and airy open plan feel with plenty of sky lights and different levels giving it a distinctive and original feel. The many features include the unique hand made wood burner and fireplace, ceramic and marble worktops and natural rose coloured slate floor in the kitchen, wooden shutters on the bedroom sash windows and hand-crafted woodwork throughout.
The sunny conservatory / dining room is surrounded by the beautiful raised garden and curved deck full of subtropical plants, flowers and fruit trees. The sunny south facing garden looks down over the harbour. The curved raised deck has a tree growing through it and is a magical place to lie in the hammock under the tree canopy, to have breakfast on a sunny morning, looking out to the sea, or to enjoy alfresco dining at the garden table surrounded by Jasmine, Passion flowers and sub tropical plants.
Garden Cottage is described by so many of our guests as a “hidden gem” and once they have stayed, most of our guests return year after year. It is perfectly situated only a short stroll to the restaurants and beaches and yet the lane is very quiet and peaceful with stunning sea views. The elevated secluded garden is a rare feature to have in St Ives and is tended weekly by the owner who is an artist (and keen gardener)! The owner lives in St Ives and her and her husband lovingly look after it themselves and so guests are assured that it will always be beautifully cared for, cleaned and presented with fresh flowers, milk, biscuits, tea and coffee, and many other essentials and homely touches.
If you’d like to avoid the high commission charges on this site you can go to one I pay a yearly fee for and so it is free from extra fees for guests and quite a lot cheaper. It’s garden cottage stives (all as one word with the usual British ending)… sorry I’m not allowed to spell it out. You will also find my contact details there incase you’d like to talk to me about any aspect of the cottage before deciding to book.
Thank you, Rachael

Cottage is perfect for a couple or a family as there are 2 bedrooms. Kitchen is fully equipped, and bedrooms are comfortable and very cute. Books and DVDs are in abundance. Cottage is just steps away from all the shops and restaurants and also near the harbour. We had a great stay and the tiny problems we had were instantly addressed. I would definitely stay again!

Such a perfect cosy, light, stunningly beautiful cottage. The garden is gorgeous and obviously well loved and it’s in the perfect quiet spot really close to the town and harbour beaches. Thank you for an unforgettable stay, we’ll definitely be back.

We had a perfect stay at Garden Cottage which is the most beautiful place we’ve stayed in St Ives so far. It’s in such a perfect location, so close to the middle of the town and all the beaches but it’s so quiet and peaceful there. The light was beautiful in the cottage and the conservatory was a lovely sunny warm place to eat with its underfloor heating. We were so lucky with the weather that we sat out in the garden with our morning coffee looking down to the harbour and across to Godrevy. We loved every bit of our stay and will definitely be coming back to our lovely home from home.

We really loved staying at this dear cottage. Rachel is a caring and attentive host. It is very convenient and the property was lovely and clean. Our bed was very comfortable, our son also slept well in his bed. Fabulous views greet you in the morning from the bedroom windows and the ground floor has a spacious feel with a wonderful conservatory where we enjoyed our breakfast. We certainly would recommend staying here and would return again.

We loved the wonderful quirky cottage, a really peaceful and pretty place to come back to each day. We loved the gorgeous garden which was wonderful to have breakfast in. Lovely to meet Rachael - we have admired her etchings for years and how nice for the cottage to be full of them. A really perfect and happy holiday xxx

Our stay in Rachael's lovely holiday home impressed us so much that when we later moved to a cottage in Cornwall we changed it's name to Garden Cottage to bestow it with a happy vibe.

Beautiful airy cottage that looks just like its pictures. Hard to believe such an inventive use of space — and a pretty garden. Central to everything, with a short steep walk home, perfect for mitigating dinner at another St Ives restaurant. Strongest memory is of the light, from the conservatory with heated floor to skylit bathroom. What a lovely nest for exploring St Ives, its galleries and the Tate.

We have just returned home after our second week's stay at Garden Cottage, St Ives. Last year, we spent a week there in late September, and were bowled over by how warm, cosy and inviting our holiday accommodation turned out to be. St Ives. Right from opening the front door, we felt very much at home. Garden Cottage has everything needed to make your holiday special. There is a lovely conservatory to sit in if the weather is a little drizzly or chilly, and outside there is a beautiful garden with a decked area at the bottom which gives views over the rooftops of St Ives to the sea in the distance. The perfect place to while away an afternoon reading the papers, or for an early evening glass of vino before heading out for supper. If you feel like staying in though, there are comfy sofas, a well equipped kitchen, both underfloor and central heating, which would entice even the most ardent of holidaymakers to spend a night in watching the TV. Another real bonus for staying at Garden Cottage is its location - being just a few steps away from the main shopping streets of St Ives, the waterfront, and spectacular views out to sea. Garden Cottage is serene, calm and quiet however - there were no problems getting a good night's sleep!

We love this cosy cottage - it is located in a great spot, just a short walk up from the Barbara Hepworth Museum, close to shops and excellent restaurants, but nice and quiet at the same time.
We stayed in the double room and our daughter and her gandma had the twin room, which was perfect for us.
The cottage has a wonderful garden and decked area, excellent for outside breakfasts with lots of sunshine and a lovely view.
The kitchen is well equipped, we found everything we needed. Rachael and Christian looked after us very well - very friendly and helpful, they are doing an excellent job maintaining the house and put a lot of creativity into it.
We especially loved the stylish interior with original etchings and paintings and the conservatory, which is another great feature.
We will be back and would recommend this property to a friend anytime!

Family of four, stayed at the cottage over easter holidays. Was perfect for us; in town but without having to navigate the tiny lanes of Downalong, short walks to harbour, Porthmeor/Tate and the coast path out to Zennor and a lovely garden to sit out in. View from bedroom over to Godrevy lighthouse perfectly framed. Would definitely stay again.

We had a lovely stay - the cottage is well located close to shops and the beaches. It has lots of character whilst having everything you need for a relaxing break (for families with young children). It was great to meet its friendly owner too. Highly recommended.
