About this bed and breakfast

Located at the foothills of Cheyenne Mountain, Colorado, you are surrounded by all of the vibrance that fall has to offer... fiery yellow, roasted auburn, savory goldenrod... a visual smorgasbord of color. In addition to the changes of the fall season, you are enveloped by evergreen pine trees, gorgeous blue skies and a view overlooking Colorado Springs that can't be beat. If you love privacy & nature as much as you love sightseeing & adventure, then this is the place for you!!

In the gorgeous Broadmoor Hills area of Cheyenne Mountain, you are likely to see deer, turkey, birds, squirrel and an occasional bobcat. Stone pathways lead to the viewing area (overlooking the city), the picnic table and hammock (for lunch in the great outdoors) or the natural canopy park bench (breathe deep as the sun goes down). Step directly outside your door to enjoy a large, private deck, complete with fall décor, outdoor seating and twinkle lights; the prefect place to relax with a warm cup of spiced cider as the deer stroll by.

Bleak Bear Chateau is the LOWER LEVEL of a 5,500 sq. ft., 3 story home and is located in the desirable Broadmoor area. The Chateau is decorated to reflect the wonderful fall season with warm colors and cozy throw blankets. This luxury neighborhood boast beautiful homes, gorgeous landscapes and wildlife in abundance. The neighborhood is quiet, safe and secure, with the upper 2 levels of the home being occupied by your host family "neighbors". A locked door and 3 sound barriors divide the space to ensure privacy and security during your stay. Your own private entry ensures that you come and go as you please without interaction from you host family. Your space is your space, but should you need anything, the host is a mere text message away. Otherwise, you are unlikely to see them in this quiet, private setting.

Jump in your car and you are minutes away from historic downtown Colorado Springs (gorgeous this time of year and the fall vibes are EVERYWHERE)- visit Cheyenne Mtn. Zoo, Garden of the Gods, the world famous Broadmoor Hotel, Pikes Peak, Penrose Heritage Museum, US Olympic Hall of Fame and much, much more. Hungry...? Thirsty...? Visit the many award winning breweries and restaurants that Colorado Springs has to offer-- from roadside BBQ to 5-Star Dining... food & drink are at your fingertips. Interested in a little shopping? You will find many unique specialty shops in Old Colorado City, Manitou Springs, Downtown COlorado Springs or at the Shops at Briargate.

Need a little more outdoor adventure? Fall is the perfect time to plan a hike at Red Rocks Canyon Park, cycle down Pike Peak Hwy or book a zipline tour at Adventures Out West Sport Park. Whatever you are in the mood for, you will find it in Colorado Springs. When the day's adventure is over, return to your comfy, cozy, fall themed hideaway and rest up for the next day's adventure. Colorado Springs and Fall await!!

SOME THINGS TO CONSIDER BEFORE YOU BOOK:

*Guests need to be able to safely ascend and descend 2 flights of steps in order to access the chateau entrance

*The altitude of Colorado Springs is 6,035’ above sea level. Once you arrive, take your time on the stairs, as it may take a little time to acclimate to the higher altitude.

*Keep your eye on the weather app. As in many states, summer hail storms are known to occur. In the winter months, we recommend all wheel drive vehicles.

*Black Bear Chateau is located on the "locked off" lower level of a 5500 sq ft home with the upper 2 levels of the home being occupied by your host family. BLACK BEAR CHATEAU HAS ITS OWN PRIVATE ENTRANCE AND YOU ARE COMPLETELY SEPARATE FROM THE HOST FAMILY

Our family of four thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Black Bear Chateau! There was wildlife out the back door every morning and evening. Our little girls (5&7) wanted to walk around the trails in the back yard every chance they could get. The neighborhood is safe and quiet while still being conveniently located to some of Colorado Springs best attractions. Make sure to read the description of the listing to ensure it fits your family’s needs. My wife and I had never stayed in a VRBO connected to someone’s home but this was not at all an issue. The rental is the whole bottom floor. It’s very quiet and private. The host family is extra respectful of guests. They do a great job of running the vacation rental and you can tell they have put in the effort to make the place unique and special. There are lots of toys and games for kids of all ages included. Don’t worry if your kiddos leave theirs back at home. For the value this place is really hard to beat! The next time we schedule a trip to the area this will be the first place we check for availability👍

Would recommend this property to anyone. Quiet and clean, with a beautiful deer there to greet us when we arrived. Great view from backyard. Mary Louise absolutely went above and beyond to accommodate us, she is a wonderful host. The space is private and close to everything we wanted to do. I would def stay here again!

We loved our stay. There was more than enough room for my family of four, and the kids loved to be able to walk around the property and be one with nature. I don't think we have ever been so close to wild deer as we were during the time we spent there. If we ever come back to Colorado Springs, we would definitely stay here again.

Even though this was the basement of their home, we only saw the owners upon arrival as they happen to be in the driveway. It was very quiet. We had a doe and her 3 fawns visit often as well as a buck, rabbits, and squirrels. Check in and out was easy. The accommodations were perfect! I missed having a full kitchen as I like to cook, even on vacation, but the mini cookware they supplied worked out just fine. They left fun little treats for us which was nice. Would definitely stay again!

My husband and I enjoyed our week stay at the the Chateau. The hostess was friendly and helpful. She made it extra special with the little things like snacks, fresh water, and cute items along the paths, etc. My favorite things about the stay was the back porch, the wildlife, the views, and the neighborhood. I would recommend listing all of the applainces in the description as well as better quality paper towels and toilet paper. Overall, our stay was very good and we would stay hrte again if we come back to CO Springs.

Me and my Fiancé enjoyed our stay. Mary was an amazing host. She was quick to answer any questions we had. We felt very welcome. At first we were apprehensive about renting a shared property as we wanted our privacy. That wasn’t an issue. We were never bothered and never heard hardly any sounds from above. The space was very comfortable for several people. Comfortably fit a family of 4 to 6. Location was ideal for Colorado Springs area. Very easy commute to and from the Colorado Springs airport. As well as easy to get to pikes peak and garden of the gods. Absolutely gorgeous view from the home. Right at the foot of the mountain. Definitely recommend to any who want an affordable alternative to a resort or hotel. Highly recommend. Definitely would come back to this property.
