This was an amazing place to stay. In all my years use Vrbo and ABB I have never stayed in a unit this clean and with an owner this great to deal with!

My wife, dog, and I enjoyed our stay here for 6 nights. The location cannot be beat just minutes away walking to the Lincoln Park Zoo and several good restaurants in the neighborhood. It’s a quaint clean basement with almost everything you need available to you. My only recommendation is bring a portable fan or two with you because you cannot control the temperature of the room and it got fairly warm during our stay. Our portable fan was a lifesaver in this instance.

Great neighborhood, good amenities, helpful hosts. Only drawback is not being able to control a thermostat to adjust temperature specifically.

I've stayed in a number of VRBO's in several countries and the location of this rental and neighborhood in Lincoln Park does not disappoint. The unit is exceptionally clean and tastefully decorated. Prior to check in, I was contacted/confirmed back and forth no less than than (3) times to as to our arrival time (after I had already contacted the owner to tell them when we were arriving per the instructions they had already provided).
We were charged the parking fee, even though we had no vehicle and had no use for the spot. Not sure why?
Upon check in, the owner advised us to use the soap dispensers that are provided in the shower because "it's better". Don't know what that means, but I'll use my own soap, thanks.
Because of the layout and low ceilings, you will be a part of every footfall and conversation right above your head.
Beware, we saw no smoke detectors in the unit. There are no exit windows so you've got a front door or a back door for egress in an emergency. We thought about doing a Basic Training style fire watch in shifts, but luckily, the noise from upstairs keeps you up.
Understand that

Very nice and central to everything that mattered to us. There are stairs to contend with but we are in our mid 70's and had no problems navigating them. Jon was a wonderful host and we will be back.

My mother and I came to visit my daughter in Lincoln Park. It was a perfect location for us as she was only a block away. I was able to park my car and walk to the zoo, the lake, shopping, and eateries. We enjoyed the cute patio with morning coffee or an afternoon cocktail before meeting the kids for dinner. It was a great stay.

This was our first visit to Chicago and the apartment was perfect for us. Location was right along with neighborhood. Jon and Lesley were very nice and accommodating to us.

Comfortable and well equipped, close to amenities like the Zoo and the lakeshore and with easy access to downtown Chicago.

It’s a delightfully cozy spot for a couple. It’s location is perfect for exploring Chicago. Tons of great dining in walking distance. Only a couple of blocks from a Target.

A great apartment with all you need for a successful stay. The location is unsurpassed: right around the corner from several bus lines, you are 20 minutes away from the most important attraction. Lincoln Park is your own backyard, so to speak. Lots of top restaurants, shops, bakeries etc.

We loved the proximity to Divvy Bikes, CTA buses and the Lincoln Park Zoo and Farmers Market. This was a garden apartment that had everything we needed including a renovated bathroom with walk in sower, private back patio, washer/dryer and kitchen. The owner was very kind and helpful.

Very cute property with all the amenities provided. Perfect location as well. I would definitely stay here again!

This clean, charming, and well-appointed basement apartment below the host's home was conveniently located to all our needs in Lincoln Park and events during our long weekend stay. The location in Lincoln Park was the best part of this stay. If you like cats, this might be a great option for you, as the host's hissing cat may pay you an extended visit under the bed, as was our experience. We arrived during a spring heat wave to discover that the air conditioning was not operable. The friendly hosts advised that they were on the repair waitlist after we complained about the temperature in the basement, and they quickly provided us with a fan. We understand that things break at the last-minute, and we were fortunately flexible enough with our plans to spend as much time elsewhere as we possibly could so that we still had a enjoyable weekend trip to Chicago. We've used VRBO's main competitor many times before to book our frequent Chicago stays without any issues, but given this was our first time using VRBO, we will not be using VRBO ever again based upon our experience.

The hosts are very nice, communicative, and helpful. The apartment was clean and comfortable. The location is great - very walkable with a lot of restaurants, local grocery stores, Target, coffee shops, and access to public transportation. I highly recommend this VRBO.

We enjoyed the apartment and will definitely be back. My daughter lives within walking distance, so we were able to spend time with her and her family plus go to the zoo and restaurants without having to search for parking. The apartment has a homey feel and the owners were very attentive.

My wife and I have stayed at this property before and we returned because it is very well done, offers everything we need, AND a covered parking spot in the middle of the winter. We needed to return to Chicago in mid-February and in that instance having a covered parking spot is a huge plus. The property is an excellent spot with an amazing location. The location is a very short walk to the zoo, the Conservatory, Lincoln Park which is a VERY large lake side park. The property is also a very short walk to countless eating options. There is a super Target 2 short blocks down the street where you can pick up any day to day grocery/ pharmacy/ or 'oops I forgot to I need items'. The neighborhood is wonderful- people are friendly and it is a dog friendly neighborhood. We stayed with our two small dogs. The condo itself suits our needs very well. Things to be aware of are there is a fairly steep small set of concrete stairs to walk down/up to get in and out of the unit as it is below grade- there is access to a small backyard courtyard. The other thing to be aware of is the unit is small as described. It is small but has the best use of space I may have ever seen. It does have everything we need. The kitchen is highly functional. The bathroom has excellent water pressure and is actually spacious given the space that are woking with. There is a W/D which work well, the internet is fast and reliable, and the TV is connected to cable so there is a wide variety of channels easy to access. Being a small spot storage is very limited and there is no 'eating spot in the unit' but this was no issue for us as we used the small kitchen counter top if needed and really mostly took advantage of the 100s of eating options within a short walk of the unit. The bed was very comfortable. The owners are wonderful - very helpful and friendly if you need anything- and keep the property is excellent condition.

we had the best time staying at Jon & Lesley's property. First, it was awesome to be greeted upon arrival by the host. I haven't had that experience before. The space was warm and cozy and exceeded our expectations. We would love to visit and stay in this property again. Tauhric & Laura Brown

My husband and I stayed at Jon & Leslie’s apartment on our long weekend visit to Chicago. The place was clean, cozy, quiet & comfortable. The location was great & our various activities were within easy Uber rides. We walked to a couple of great breakfast spots nearby. Great hosts! We hope to return for a springtime visit!

My wife and I just stayed at this property for the last 10 days. We had our two sheltie dogs with us. This is an excellent property in a prime location in a wonderful neighborhood. The host was very easy to communicate with and check in was simple. There is a Target with food/beverages/CVS 2 blocks down the street making shopping for simple items very easy. The location can't be beat with an amazing array of restaurants/ pubs/ shops within very short walking distance in any direction. Lincoln Park is a block away with miles and miles of trails. Lincoln Park zoo and conservatory are also 1 block. The apt. is quite small as advertised and I don't believe I have ever seen better use of space. The apt. is well appointed, and very comfortable. The wifi is excellent. The TV has cable. The bed is very comfortable and has pull down curtains around the bed to separate out the space as needed. The shower is excellent. We did not cook so I cannot comment on that part. There is a full size W/D which makes things very simple. This is a below grade unit so be aware there is very little in the way of sunlight. This was no problem for us as we were out all day and it certainly makes for excellent sleeping conditions. There is a covered parking space across the street which fit our SUV. We mostly walked or ubered to things. The EL train brown line stops are not a far walk and a quick trip into downtown.

Kudos to Lesley and Jon for creating such a warm and hospitable pied á terre just steps from Lincoln Park in one of the prettiest neighborhoods in Chicago. The apartment was a haven during a recent solo trip to see family in the area. It’s beautifully designed and well appointed with everything a guest could possibly need, from gourmet kitchenware, linens, large-size bath amenities and fast Wifi for working, to the incredibly comfortable bed. Lesley and Jon have lived in the neighborhood for a long time and are such delightful, welcoming hosts. I look forward to returning!

Leslie and Jon are very sweet hosts. You can tell they care a lot about their rental and making their guests comfortable. The location can not be beat and the space was well equipped with everything you need plus some extras.
You should be aware that, while the unit is private, you are staying in close quarters beneath the main floor of the owner's home. We could hear footsteps and conversations during our stay (some times very early in the morning). There is a door off the bedroom that is common to the washer/dryer room that is used by the owner, and the outdoor space is shared and viewable from the main house windows. Only mentioning these things to help those who are looking for more privacy (which is hard to find in a city). The owners were extremely considerate, and I hope won't take these notes negatively. Its just good for those trying to get a good sense of the space.

This was the perfect place to stay for our first trip to Chicago. It is a short walk to the Zoo and History Museum. Convenient location for taxi and or Uber/Lyft rides. It is clean and comfortable for a couple. We definitely stay again.

We spent 5 nights in this charming basement apartment. Although it didn’t feel like a basement. Equipped with everything we needed plus outside seating. We parked our car and rode bus 151 ( 2 blocks away) most days into downtown. Ubered in a few times easily. Explore the Lincoln And Armitage Street areas for shops and restaurants. They were a little more upscale than the Clark street area ones IMO. Highly recommend. Jon and Lesley excellent hosts and very responsive.

Charming and a great location. Nicely furnished including kitchen appliances although the cookware could be improved such as slightly larger boiler and lid. Bed was not very comfortable and vent over the bed was not appreciated.
