Disappointed that there was a charge for pool and sauna each day - we didn’t use it
3.0 / 10.0
The hotel was a little tired but clean, comfy bed and good shower so key point were catered for.
Also a good selection and quality breakfast
The hotel desperately needs some illumination outside, it looks closed from the main road and the inroad and carparks are not lit at all, it must loose trade because of this if it wasn't for the satnav I would of passed it several times before seeing it.

I found the Hotel to have very friendly, helpful staff and I thought the room was good value for money.

Pool closed and not even informed about this.

The hotel was in a great location for our needs. The downside was we stayed in room 24 and it smelt awful as we were only there for 2 nights we put up with it. My mother in laws room was fine. I did let reception know. Bar service was slow at time. Food was great especially the breakfast. All.the staff work hard and are friendly.

A very pleasant stay at The Royal Chase Hotel Shaftesbury which was ideal for meeting up with family and friends in the area. All the staff were very obliging and helpful and we made good use of the swimming pool. Many thanks again.

Sadly pool was out of action . Staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was clean and comfortable. We had difficulty getting the shower to run hot but this was solved by running the bat hot tap for a while.

Room was fine - comfortable beds (2 singles - 'comfort room'), everything worked, good-sized bathroom.
Prefer if different coffee brand used, as Nescafe are unethical (political activities, anti-social finance, likely use of tax avoidance strategies, animal testing, animal rights abuses, a poor approach to climate change and more). My wife's particular concern with them is that they contribute to the unnecessary death and suffering of infants around the world by aggressively marketing baby foods in breach of international marketing standards.
Restaurant used for evening meal - good quality and generous portions - and for breakfast. Full Breakfast was '1 of each' - would have quite liked >1 mushroom, egg, bacon etc (perhaps I should have been bold and asked), but it did also include all the continental options too so overall still decent value for full breakfast.
Swimming pool was reasonable size and a nice addition (a jacuzzi would have been even better!), but not keen on the very small changing-room, with the urinal just round the corner from the very small square section with bench and shower The spray from the shower and water flow to plug was encroaching on the bench area. Also walls were grey concrete looking - seemed like they needed to have some paint or tiles on to vastly improve the look.
Overall, though, recommend the hotel for a good value Sun to Mon stay-over as we explored Shaftesbury and wider area.

Parking is easy although I recommend not parking near the trees/hedge as the car was covered in sap and debris in the morning. The lovely looking swimming pool which helped us choose this hotel was closed for maintenance every time we wanted to use it. Breakfasts were good. A little overpriced for the tired looking room.

Basically hotel ok staff excellent. Shame no fridge or air con.

Considering i spent over 130 for a night for this hotel it was not what i expected. Seemed more like a care home than a hotel. Rooms didnt look like they did on the pictures and neither did the property. It needs updating badly. Beds were very worn and mattressing had springs coming through. The bathroom that looked quite new was dirty. Staff were welcoming and friendly though.

Hotel is a little tired, but I've never stayed anywhere where the staff have been more accommodating! Everyone went above & beyond, Thankyou, The West family.

Very warm welcome, the swimming-pool and the sauna are an asset, and it is very quiet.
The center of the town is about 15 minutes of walk.

So I think the rooms must vary greatly, we were staying for a wedding and some people said there rooms were nice and modern with good showers, our was small, boiling hot and dated with not enough hot water for us both to have a shower. When we arrived late at night after the wedding the window was wide open and it was still boiling hot, we slept on top of the bed with the window and curtains open, not a great nights sleep followed by a very disappointing shower in a not at all modern bathroom

Rooms dated, bar not comfortable and service was bad, no atmosphere Main reception staff friendly and helpful. Location was handy for travelling around area. Shaftesbury beautiful

Room was like a hot house, ghastly attached bath/shower gel which one could not reach from a bathing position. No pressure from shower head for an actual shower, iron burns on the carpet. Had a terrible night.
Nice night manager and good sized towels

Excellent breakfast served by very accommodating staff. The room was clean and airy.
My only moan was that the shower took a long time to heat and had very little pressure and the bath that it was over was too narrow naking it difficult yo move.

Our room (33) was very good - spacious with an excellent en suite. The staff are friendly, helpful and professional (especially Sue at breakfast). We didn’t use it but there’s a lovely big swimming pool

Staff were lovely. Our room was big, with a big bath and separate shower. Breakfast was lovely and lots of choice. The only issue was the heating was on, during a hot weekend in mid May and the whole hotel was very warm but they did give out fans and open the windows so it wasn’t unbearable.

Food was awful room was dirty someone’s stinky pants under the bed and out of date cheese left in dresser drawers!! Radiator broken and was boiling hot all night, dust everywhere and big public hair in shower basin!!!!

We had a lovely room with high ceilings and a large comfortable bed. The small sofa in front of the TV was welcome. The staff were helpful and we had a good experience on our one night there.

The hotel is a little tired around the edges and could do with renovation perhaps, but the staff are polite, the location is great and the pool a welcome distraction!

We had a really great stay here - the pool and sauna were a big plus for us, as well as the staff, who were all genuinely lovely. Great breakfast. Lovely big room. Nice lounge with games (including Buckaroo and Kerplunk) and books. I couldn’t fault it one bit.

The hotel is tired, dated and grubby and in need of a lot of TLC. The bed was uncomfortable, radiators in the room didn’t work and the carpet was stained and filthy.
Staff were very pleasant and breakfast was tasty, but the restaurant decor and furniture needs replacing / updating.

Over all excellent stay, no hassle booking in or out, staff very friendly and helpful, breakfast was 1st class

Returning at 10.30 pm there was no available parking due to an outside booking. Excellent reception staff ,- especially the one who moved her car to provide a space for me. Floors not hoovered, faux leather chair split, paint peeling from ceiling, hairs in bath and on tiles.

Wouldn't hesitate recommending staying there again..
And Shaftesbury was lovely..
