The stay wasVery good staff very friendly and helpful it was clean and comfortable the only problem I could find was they needed a further lift as there was only one left

Decent room. Unfortunately the windows in my room was broke so very drafty and the heating didn’t work so very cold. All my floor complained it was too cold.

My family have stayed in this hotel for the last 4 years & we always find the staff very friendly & helpful. It is also nice that my JRT can stay too.

Nice staff, very quick check in. Grand old hotel. Rooms dated and basic however nice and warm.
We had a smelly drain problem made worse by overuse of air freshener. It was a dry waste trap on the bath, we ran the water and put the plug in and it cleared overnight.
The hotel was nice and quiet so got a good nights sleep. Great parking 30 minute walk into the town centre.

Warm, good location and friendly staff. Limited parking and dated decor but nice.

Stayed on a Sunday night overnight to see the illuminations. Paid under forty pounds for room only so did not go expecting the Ritz Glitz or 5 Star experience.
Check in quick and very friendly, given room on first floor, which was on first glance ok.
Room set up as twin but no issues, kettle in room and variety of tea coffee milk which could be topped up f.o.c at reception, and flat screen tv all good for now.
Then the wheels started coming off,for us ,as follows.
Beds extremely hard and uncomfortable, pillows full of lumps, pungent smell of damp from bathroom.
But we were prepared to accept live with these issues as we didn't want to make a fuss due to the amount we paid. However unknown to us at time of booking the Hotel was hosting a Country and Western event over the weekend the finale of course on Sunday night.
We gad had some low music noise in the room on the afternoon, check is is not until three, but dismissed it and went out for the evening returning around nine thirty.
Well to say the noise from the Band on stage was deafening is an understatement as the room was rocking and Bass shaking the floor. You really could not hear yourself talk. It turned out we were literally the room the floor above the stage, and might as well have been in the Band with them,
I went down to reception and complained but at this time really did not want the hassle of moving rooms etc so they said as a gesture they would give us two complementary Breakfasts which i accepted.

A nice historic hotel, the staff were very friendly and we had a good time there. Only downsides were disabled access as doors and lift quite narrow but all in all worth the visit

Very friendly and helpful on reception. Lovely bathroom, nice size tv. All clean. The bed was uncomfortable for us, we're not used to springs! Other than that, it was a very good stay

The lady who checked me in was great.
There was one member of staff, a young man I think his name was Harry but not sure, he was very loud and annoying in the bar and his language when talking to other staff needs attention especially when your that loud, he clearly needs to do a Dignity at Work course.
All other points about the hotel were great, nice large, clean room, great parking, busy and tram stop right outside the hotel which made a good location to stay.

The room was basic double, bed felt rock hard, was disappointed by the 1 hour time slot for breakfast. The disabled toilet door need not have been there having been broken at least twice looking at it, ( photo attached ). In the main lobby, then the staff bar lads that thought was funny to shout and sing loudly, then disappear so could not be served at bar.

Cost 198 pounds for 3 nights room only. Room very small with small queen/double bed pushed hrd against wall. No out look (back yard) . No heating though radiator set at 5. Windows old and letting in draughts. Shower good though .Poor value for money spent .

Room was small and way too warm. Bed was really uncomfortable

Room was very dated and carpet hadn’t been vacuumed as found items under the bed. Good size room and bathroom. Pubic hairs and yellow stains found in the bath. Bathroom flooded from above when the room upstairs used their shower. View of a small yard and brick wall. Room very hot and unable to turn the heat down as there were no controls visible. Room door loose and not very secure and door opened onto one of the single beds which made it difficult to enter the room with our dog on a lead and our bags. Stains all down the wall where the tv was situated which looked like they were caused from water coming from the room above us. Advertised as pet friendly and yet we weren’t allowed in the food areas or bar with our well behaved dog. Will not be staying here again, very disappointing stay.

Always a great stay here at the Savoy, like home from home. Was given a lovely double room very cosy. Would highly recommend a stay at this lovely hotel.

Booked a double but was given a twin without any offer of compensation for inconvenience and aggravation. However, the room was adequate although the shower is old and the shower cubicle very small. Bar was reasonably priced and the dining area and dinner of a high standard. Breakfast not the best.

I had the lumpiest pillow I’ve ever come across in my life and couldn’t use it. My room was so far away from reception I wasn’t able to go to reception and get it changed when I realised. Really appalling anyone thought it was ok to use that as a pillow!

The hotel was ok. Didn't like paying extra for WiFi in room. Tea and coffee weren't topped up. Lucky if someone was at the bar. Stood there but no staff. Was ok

Found the hotel to be depressing
Needs renovation, even a lick of paint would freshen it up.
Tv didnt work, asked reception, but said no one.in the building who could look at it!
No cash payment at the bar only cards
Only one sachet of milk on tea tray,
Breckfast 13.00 very over.priced , so we declined.
Even the budget price of 75 pounds a night wasnt wirth the say,

Service at reception was poor, the guy was trying, but seemed to have had little if any training, the lift was not working, people in their 80s, having to negotiate the stairs on there bottom, absolutely shocking, asked for a late check-out, maid banging on my door at 12 noon, not particularly late in opinion, I just grabbed my bag and left, awful place! just crap!!!

Nice hotel my room was clean and tidy. Didn't have evening meal but it was a really good buffet style breakfast. Tram stop, right outside. Needs some entertainment at night.

Bed/living room was nothing like the picture on the website of the same price region. Room was in terrible condition, walls were filthy & the wallpaper was dirty & peeling off.
The hotel lift was not working 3 days of the 4 days we stayed.

Got a refund and left as we had been camping for 5 nights before and wanted a clean nice place to stay . This hotel was far from that and though they have started refurbishing it it’s around 20 years too late

On arrival at 1545 (I was advised check-in was 1500). I was told that my room was not ready. This was due to a late checkout from a previous guest which they paid for however I didn’t get a discount for the late check-in food for thought. I was eventually given the keys At 16:30 hours so I went to the room only to find the cleaners still cleaning the room they were very apologetic and embarrassed, I explained that it probably wasn’t their fault and made them feel at ease.
No fridge in the room.
Pigeon nesting right outside the window, making a noise all night which made sleeping Impossible
I am not normally one who complains but in this instance I think it is totally justified. I don’t want anything extra than what I paid for but I don’t see why I should be deprived of something because somebody else has paid for a late checkout and then I have to suffer a late check-in.
I welcome the thoughts of the senior management of that hotel
