Amazing central hotel. Everything very clean and organised. My room was huge. Enjoyed the lovely breakfast and staff was super attentive! I will definitely come back!

We had a great one night stay, room was lovrly, tastefully decorated, confy bed, soft fluffy towels, great tea and coffee facilities. Perfect location for the town. Reception staff were lovely. Only downside was lack of offerings in the bar, quite limited and not the friendliest response when we enquired about a certain drink.

Very nice, stylish, clean hotel. Room chic, bed and bedding super comfy, nice shower. Happy, welcoming friendly staff.

Go here several times a year as we have family nearby. Very comfortable. Every time I book they send me an email saying to ask about complimentary upgrades when we check in and every time I ask they say no. Would be nice if just the once they would upgrade us since we have been there over a dozen times.

Very comfortable room

A lovely stylish room that was clean and comfortable. The hotel in general made the most of the features of its historical building. While I did not use the bar or restaurant they looked very nice.
The hotel is very conveniently located in the heart of St Albans close to many restaurants, bars, pubs, and venues.
I was luck to get a parking space at the hotel itself - the overflow parking would have been frustrating as it was difficult enough to get to the hotel in heavy traffic to then have to drive to the overflow down busy narrow streets.

Really friendly and helpful and despite a maintenance issue for the hotel with water supply everyone was helpful and advised of the issue while being resolved. Did not adversely effect the stay and appreciate things happen.

The requirement to collect a parking permit to check for spaces in the second and third car park locations was a tad tiresome after a long drive. Having the drop off point was useful as I travelled with a pensioner, but if there were several people checking in at the same time this would not work too well. Stayed two nights. On day one's breakfast we had stale croissants that the server advised were from the day before and only black coffee available in the machines. Unacceptable. Poached eggs at breakfast on day two were basically hard boiled. Had to send back. Good location for the town centre, which had lots of restaurants to choose from for dinner as well as places to go if you want some nightlife. Overall a decent enough hotel. Car parks should be monitored for available spaces and people parking appropriately in said spaces as some people parked across two spots. Reception staff were excellent.

Lovely stay in St Albans. Good location to the shops, restaurants, cafes, train line. Front desk staff was very nice. Really soft towels in the washroom as well. If you’re on level one, you may hear a fair amount of noise from the floor above.

Lovely hotel, great location, staff are great, food excellent. Rooms a bit small, but nice. Only real problem is the carpark isn't well lit, and at night it is very easy to fall into potholes (as I did) and potentially hurt yourself.

Warm and friendly welcome and rooms were very nice. Breakfast was amazing

The hotel was really lovely inside. Almost like a tardis. The staff were so nice and nothing was too much trouble. Our room was great, and when it came to breakfast, we couldnt fault it. Plenty of choice and a waiter who was very attentive. Overall a great stay and we'll be back again in October

We were put in a ground floor room, where we discovered the television broke up a lot and had no BBC. We reported it twice but still the same. The third day we were moved to a first floor room, where the television was perfect. It appeared that they knew the reception in that ground floor room was bad. Not impressed. We had planned to spend some time watching the Olympics on BBC, so missed two and a half days.
Otherwise, all good!

Really enjoyed our stay here. We arrived into St Albans early and headed to the hotel. Though our room was not yet ready (we got there at 1:30 for a 3pm check in time), the hotel let us leave our bags so we could explore the city.
Check in later (just before 3pm) was super quick and easy, and staff were friendly and inviting.
Room was large and clean. Plenty of space to hang suits etc in the wardrobe.
Bed was softer than i'm used to but very comfy.
We were in 301, which was first along a corridor from the lifts. I had initial concerns about guest traffic on their way to their own rooms but happy to say. didn't hear a thing.
Didn't need the WIFI, so can't comment on that.
The included breakfast the following morning was very good. Staff were friendly and polite. The 'help yourself' continental options were fine but the hot food options were great.
In terms of value for money, though I did have a nice stay, it was quite expensive. Not sure if that pricing was typical or it was a peak weekend. We had limited options when booking so could have just been very busy.

Fabulous location! Breakfast not included and extremely expensive to have breakfast at Hotel. Would have liked a small fridge in the room. Parking a bonus but hit and miss to get the parking closest to hotel. Great stay!

Pleasant hotel with easy connection to central London. Room was kept very clean and staff was alway helpful.

We absolutely loved our time in St. Albans and the Samuel Ryder hotel. The room was lovely and very comfortable. There was no mini fridge with water, but you just ask the front desk and they give you as many waters as you need. The breakfast was delicious in their beautiful dining room. The location is fantastic, directly across from the cathedral, and St. Albans is an easily walkable town filled with charm and so much good food. We look forward to coming back.

What a beautiful hotel! Receptionists so friendly and welcoming. We had a comfortable 2 nights sleep and that’s saying alot with a little toddler. The room and bathroom was very clean and breakfast was delicious. Definitely one of the best Hilton we’ve stayed in the UK.

My room cost over £300 per night plus breakfast. I was expecting much better. Central London prices. The room was adequate but nothing special. I had expected a comfortable suite for that price.
The drain to the shower was partially blocked, so very nearly caused a flood.
The breakfast (charged on top) was lovely, though I think they need to start serving at 06.45, or even 06.30. I had to depart at 07.30, so it ended up being a terrible rush. Lots of guests appeared at 07.00, which suggested there would be demand for an earlier start.
On the plus side, it was convenient for my work.

Lovely and friendly just felt quality of hotel was lacking I’m afraid

It was convenient to where we needed to be.

The room was a bit like a bunker that had been deep cleaned with bleach. I've got to say for more than £250 /night I expected much more...certainly I expected a bottle of water in my room...or even better in the fridge. The staff were all very nice but it felt that 2x normal price should get something more.

Not a bad hotel and definitely an interesting building. I arrived late at night so literally checked in, had shower and went to sleep. The only disappointing thing was the cleanliness of the bathroom. There was toothpaste spatter all over the blue painted wall, which is totally disgusting. Besides that though, the bed was extremely comfortable.

Very friendly staff. Clean and spacious rooms. Great location 1min to down-town

The place was nice but I was put in a bad mood by the hotel taking £50 out of my account. This is just not what I expect from a decent hotel. It takes 2 weeks to go back into my account and they should come up with a better way to doing this. It's just not fair on decent people in this work and there is millions of pounds floating in the bank system because of this deposit idea!
Also the car parking isn't on site and this should be included clearly in the description.
There was no water in the room which should be included and is in most hotels. You had to request this at reception.
When getting out the lift on floor 2 there is no signs as to where to go.
Finally I came home late after 1pm and found it hard to get back into the hotel. It wasn't clear what to do and I was panicking.
This is a nice Hotel and with a few small changes which help customers it would be great.

I had an amazing experience in this hotel, very clean, quiet and in St Albans center.
The staff is very nice and helpful. I’ll be back for sure.

Well decorated clean room. Staff friendly and good size bed with comfortable bedding. Shower was very powerful and hot.
Bed slightly too hard for own preference, but not too bad.
Would have liked body lotion and maybe some water in the room and a better coffee supplied, but all little things.
There was a safe if we needed.

This hotel is very nice. The front part is Historical and is beautiful. The rooms are newly remodeled and very clean. It is within walking distance to many this and food establishments. This is such a cute little town, with a lot of History. It is a bit hilly, so your legs get a little workout. The staff was very accommodating and friendly.

A good central hotel, walkable to loads of shops and restaurants. Good breakfast and nice bar area.
We had a std. room which was quite small and had a view of a brick wall but fine for 1 night.
8.0 / 10.0
My only comment is, that as they are still under a little bit of renovation, they have a few little details to iron out. ie; my room's landline was not working, so I have no way to contact front desk , aside from going person. The safe in my room was not working and needed to be replaced.
Overall, they just have few details to iron out, so as to be considered a higher end boutique hotel.

Excellent over night stay. The room was lovely with comfortable beds and a walk in shower. All the staff were friendly. Just short of a restaurant, but renervations were ongoing.

Nice staff, cosy bar, very comfortable wide single beds in twin room. Aircon is very noisy and clicky and the shower did not work properly, as a button was missing. Could be very noisy from the parking lot too, but it was quiet season. For the price it is OK for one night.

We use this place a lot as we have family who live nearby. Excellent choice for city centre. Always quiet and good service. Wish they hadn’t taken all the baths out though when they did the refurbishment from Clarion to Hilton. They also put the price up by nearly 50% so it’s not such good value anymore.

Lovely small hotel, clearly recently refurbished, in an excellent location for the centre of St Albans, parking on site or a short walk away. Great rooms and an excellent breakfast.

Stayed for one night, great location & lovely staff. Deluxe room was fairly big, bathroom was very clean and refurbished, would have been useful to have a fridge & water/ice facilities. Would stay again.
6.0 / 10.0
Considering this hotel has been rebranded, I found it dull and uninviting. Only the location, which is superb, saves it.

Excellent location with free parking. All staff are exceptional especially reception and the lady at breakfast. Would highly recommend.
