Stayed here a number of times. Good location and transport links to explore and plenty of night life

The room that I staying in was superior double which was nice but nothing special. There was a range of pillows which is always good. There are two restaurants that you can go to that at either side of the hotel but these must be booked. Japan Asian restaurant was delicious

Our budget room was small but clean. We were in the annex over the road and concerns about noise were not founded as we did not return until after midnight. The staff were friendly and helpful. As stated there is limited parking behind the hotel but we were able to park on arrival so all good.

Hotel was nice and one of the better options for Osborne Road. Room was well presented although a lot of stairs!

Noisy due to student street and loads of pubs

Perfect - great value for money.

Very nice hotel , only marked down as our central heating wasn’t working and had to use an oil radiator.

Good value for money and very handy for visiting our daughter who is studying and University.
It can be very lively at night due to the number of bars near by catering for students, however it is done by 1130 and didn’t bother us even though our room happened to be on the front above the bar.
The bathroom needed the silicone sealing to be redone by a professional as currently it is a terrible state. Also the cleaning in the bathroom was not up to standard.

Lovely hotel, friendly staff. It's above a bar but there was no noise. Great location. Second time I stayed here - 1st room was a standard double and it was "snug" but fine for me on my own. This time I stayed in a superior and it was massive - have requested the same room when I go back for my 3rd stay in one month's time! Both bathrooms seemed to have been newly refurbished. The pillows are a bit thin and hard so next time I'll chuck my pillows from home in the car with me!

A good hotel in the centre of Jesmond with everything nearby what you need and great links into the city with the metro.

A good experience as usual having stayed here many times before.
Excellent location and good size superior room.

Weird that reception and breakfast is at the Cairn (we ended up in the Carlton) but otherwise enjoyable stay. Breakfast really good, bed comfy and shower really good

So this trip threw me a little curve ball so I’ll explain.
I wasn’t familiar with the area, I was working in a local clinic and so chose the hotel based on some reviews and proximity to the venue I needed to get to.
Well brace yourselves
The hotel itself was lovely, the staff were friendly and helpful I ended up staying at the Clayton hotel which was over the road.
Totally fine.
Parking was a bit annoying lots of bins in the way but got a space so happy days.
The hotel itself was nice
Tidy
Clean
The bed was actually really comfy
Little sachets of Nescafé and tea a kettle and fridge.
Somewhere to hang clothes and a desk for working all great!
Bathroom was lovely great pressured shower
Nice smelling bath stuff
Clean fluffy towels
The room was quite hot
I opened the window which helped this.
So im working away on my computer .
Start to wind down…
Then boom
The students!
Now I knew I was above a bar, so my spider senses did tell me I was I for a roudy night.
I did also see signs for ear plugs and naively thought it might have been for the propose of being on a main road .
I was so wrong
It was for the 10-2am wildlings of the north
The avalanche of students getting absolutely mangled playing drinking games
I don’t think the full moon helped.
wow
Nothing prepared me for the noise
I mean they weren’t had they were clearly having a great time. It was just in that moment the ear plugs would have been ideal.
Fortunately I had my headphones
But wouldn’t stay again

Nice hotel. Superior room well worth paying a little extra for. Area is quite busy with students, but lots of choice for eating and drinking. Bonus that there is a car park onsite too (albeit with limited number of spaces)

A decent hotel with a clean room and en-suite bathroom. Lots of stairs to access the quiet room on the second floor in the Carlton hotel part across the road from the Cairn hotel.

Have stayed at The Cairn in Newcastle half a dozen time and always had an enjoyable stress free stay.
A large superior room on the 2nd floor which had a walk in shower in bathroom.

Great location in Jesmond but several things let the place down. The room was not the cleanest but fine as we were only staying one night. Until early hours of the morning, people were walking up and down the corridors, speaking loudly and slamming doors (sounded like the same individuals). We were woken up at around 8am to the loud drainage pipes and then to the dripping water that was coming into the room and onto the wardrobe and eventually dripping on the floor. We told reception and asked to move rooms to get ready in but was told no and all they did was send someone who put a towel on top of the wardrobe while it was still dripping. Not a great experience, especially for the cost.

It was a good stay in a convenient and safe area. Room was a good size and well appointed. Value for money was fabulous, but TV didn’t work, no tissues in tissue box, bedside lamp didn’t work and the room was very warm. Windows didn’t open very wide but a fan was provided (it wasn’t a particularly good fan but it did help a little.)We asked for TV issue to be addressed and it was dealt with quickly and room service sorted out the tissues. Forgot to tell them about the bedside lamp. Attached restaurant SoHe was very good. We had a lovely meal there. We also opted for breakfast included and it was good. Not a huge range but definitely good enough. Staff at the hotel and in the restaurant were very good.

Great hotel, only downside is the parking situation. Not much availability and not told this in advance

Stayed at carlton hotel opposite, room was clean and tidy, good for the cost, however was very warm which was strange as weather outside was 17 degrees and no heating on? There was a fan in the room which we used constantly. Stayed mid week so no issues with loud noise, doors slamming shut can be noisy. Breakfast was in main Cairn Hotel, good selection, well cooked and attentive waiter, would consider return probably when weather cooler.

Lovely hotel, breakfast was great, street was clean and tidy, only a half hour walk to city centre, will definitely be back

Nice location. That’s the only good thing about this property. The place is filthy, housekeeping is very poor. The maintenance of the building is bad, no staff available to help with enquiries except on the phone.

Lovely big room. Nice bathroom. Clean. Location just 2 miles from city centre.

The room we had was perfect for our needs, to use as a base to visit family and friends so that we could return to our room to relax or venture out to the baby pubs and restaurants to choose from without having to drive - perfect!!!
The staff were brilliant!
Always at hand and attentive. The service was spot on, the breakfast was excellent with choices and the waiters were all wonderful.

Half hour stroll to the city centre. Jesmond is a beautiful area. Parking is a bit of a nightmare. I only gave our stay a 3* because our room was like a sauna. No idea why is was so hot but I had to have a cold shower at 4am to cool down.

A good value for money hotel. The room was clean and comfortable with all the necessary basics. It did get a little hot in the room during our stay since it was a warm day, but a fan was provided which was helpful.

Got there and no parking was available (in fairness it does state “first come, first serve”) so drove around for 20-30 mins to try and find a parking space local to the hotel. We stayed in the block across the road to the main hotel. Stains all over the wall with damp by the windows. Dust over the furniture, well…… what’s left of it. Best part about the room was the fact the shower was lovely.
