Upon arrival, we were greeted by the very charming and professional Jad. The property was stunning, the rooms grand, extremely clean and comfortable.
Excellent facilities and a short drive or 20/30 minute walk into Pont-Audemer.
We will certainly be visiting again in the future!

The room was full of mould. We couldn’t breathe there. We had to search another hotel.

A beautiful hotel and the staff were very attentive and accommodating with us and our two year old

This place is absolutely stunning. Excellent staff, professional and very friendly. The swimming pools are heaven, so refreshing. Dinner on the patio was excellent. Rooms are small but all you need.
Breakfast is also excellent.
Highly recommend this property for anyone visiting the Normandie region.
Tres Magnifique.

I adored Belle Isle sur Risle. It is such a relaxing place, The staff were so welcoming and accommodating (with the exception of one or two members who were less than friendly, but they were easily outshone by the others who were exceptionally kind.) When we discovered that they were fully booked for massages, they went out of their way to hire a second masseur so we would not be disappointed. I have read some reviews which said the hotel was tired and in need of refurbishment, but this is an authentic French country house and so, whilst not pristine throughout, has all the charms which come with that and for me make it preferable to somewhere more corporate and less personal. We didn't get chance to eat in the restaurant but did have breakfast. As we only wanted coffee and a croissant, it worked out very expensive so we only went once, but there was a full array of cooked dishes, including dauphinoise potatoes and champagne on offer so that would justify the price. We stayed a week and found it was perfect to spend some days relaxing by the 2 pools, having our massages, canoeing on the river or using the bikes to go into Pont-Audemer (which is a really charming place with plenty of shops and places to eat). The location is wonderful for exploring Normandy and beyond so on other days we took off and saw the delights of Honfleur, Bayeux and Giverny, all with in really easy reach.

A quiet and relaxing location with an excellent restaurant.

Most unique place in Normandy to stay!

We had seen the pictures and description of the bedrooms on the website and it all looked good.
Unfortunately we found the reality to be different.
We had chosen a room with air-conditioning but our allocated room (albeit with a balcony and a great view of the garden) was hot and had no air-conditioning. After some discussion we chose to move to an alternative room on the top floor, which did have ac. Although this was working when we checked into the room it stopped cooling during the night - we were told that it had recently been repaired but obviously, the repair couldn't have been done properly. Bedroom decor was very basic and could have been far better, especially as this was not a cheap stay. The bathroom was interesting. There was a bath with a shower attachment although it would have been impossible to stand and shower in the bath due to the sloping roof. I reckon that you would have to have been a contortionist to have been able to use the bidet conventionally. due to its positioning in a corner of the room.
We did have dinner, and this was the bright spot of the stay, along with a particularly good bottle of burgundy. The decor of the dining room was generally good although it was spoilt but what looked like a shower curtain fixed to one of the walls (see photo below). Once seen it couldnt be unseen.
Location was very good but we won't be visiting again in a hurry - the hotel needs to upgrade its rooms and for the description on the website to be more accurate.

Quiet and beautiful. Personnel were very friendly and helpful. Town was closed for dinner with many options. Breakfast and coffee were good

Very, very tired. Lovely house and location. Great garden, but hotel virtually untouched for decades. Also overpriced to start with and breakfast was extra.

Charming country home turned into a hotel. The owner greeted us and gave us a tour and some history of the place. Beautiful room with a terrace overlooking the outdoor pool and gardens. Definitely eat dinner at the hotel one night. It was one of our favorite meals in France.

The hotel was lovely , very idyllic in a beautiful setting. But ghe food is good but on the expensive side and the drinks are very expensive. Sorry

This stay was hugely disappointing. It’s just an over-priced tourist trap. From the pictures this place looks incredible, but the reality is actually shabby and dirty and poorly maintained. The pool (s) were dirty, chairs covered in dust dirt and bird shit, and it looked like grandma had tried to do basic deck renovations herself. The exterior of the main building is covered in ivy - nice in theory and in pics, but actually covers crumbling bricks and home to zillions of bugs and beetles. The service was appalling and the breakfast was basic and unhygienic with plates such as smoked salmon and deli meats set out in the heat and sweating for several hours. I read the reviews that dinner was very good but when we arrived at 6pm we were told there was no room and the restaurant was completely booked. When we got back from our dinner in town to a nearly empty dining room, one of the servers told us in fact there was lots of availability after 930pm. Oh

Very nIce location and facilities - absolute recommendef

This is a delightful 19th century mansion in beautiful forest/parkland on an island. Our stay coincided with a heatwave so we really appreciated the tree cover. We were upgraded to a garden room which had every facility we needed. The food in the restaurant was exceptional. Madame Yazbeck could not have been more helpful. Our only regret was our stay was only one night. We will be back!

The grounds are wonderful with many trees. The restaurant is excellent. I recommend the duck, as the chef recommends - pink. The staff offered great suggestions and personalized the visit.
4.2
This family run hotel offers lots of ambiance. The staff are friendly and welcoming and the setting is in tranquil garden next to the river. The only negative is that the spa facilities were not all included and not all working.

Just a great place, handsome facility, friendly inn keepers, four delightful children and beautiful neighborhood.

Lovely hotel in a quiet location in a busy French market town. Very good service and nice modern accommodation. Both an indoor and outdoor pool. Nice grounds, though a little bit run down. Excellent wi-fi.
The restaurant is expensive though when compared to restaurants in the town.

Stayed for a Sunday night bed and breakfast, and did not take advantage of the Spa facility on site. On arrival we were loudly instructed that we had wrongly parked the car in the staff area although that was not clearly marked. On looking at the menu prices for Dinner we decided to dine elsewhere.. Rooms very spacious en suite, although no elevator to upper floors due to age of the property. Some rooms in a separate annexe within the grounds..

Nice small hotel, very friendly owner Lady and staff, excellent food. Would recommend!

We had a lovely stay, and the people working at the hotel made us feel welcome and were incredibly helpful despite me no speaking a word of French. The place is beautiful, and there is plenty of room for parking and two lovely swimming pools. However, the hotel is a bit old and it doesn't have AC (despite it saying that on the listing) so it was a bit noisy sleeping with the windows open when cars started leaving in the morning. Also, the WiFi signal was erratic at best so I wouldn't choose it if we need internet to work remotely or something.
4.2
Beautiful building, but state of the hotel could be better. Rooms are old (not in the good way) and can be taken care of: not all electricity is working for example. The staff is not very friendly. The area around the hotel is nice and delivers the possibility to walk and enjoy the sunset.

Arrived with my wife for a 2 day short break. Warm greeting on arrival by Tim, who spoke excellent English and gave us an informed tour of the hotel. We stayed in a Romantic room, which was of a good size, comfortable bed and spacious shower. The quality of food in the restaurant was excellent, matched by the service. Breakfast was good, you pre-ordered the day before and it was served fresh and prompt. The grounds of the hotel are lovely. Our only complaint during our stay was the water pressure from the shower. However this in no way spoiled our stay. Nice indoor pool and outdoor pool was of good size, unfortunately the weather was such that we did not se it, Would stay again if ever in the area.

The two of us and our 9 year old daughter had a great 4 day ay at this hotel. The setting next to the river with a lovely garden was very beautiful and calm. Not very close to tourist sites, but close enough for day trips (we went to Caen, Deauville, and Rouen). Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was delicious - though as I suppose befits a high quality resort it was not cheap, so we had 2 great dinners but skipped breakfast and ate out on day trips the other two nights. Pools indoor and out nice - our 9 year old particularly enjoyed the jets on the indoor pool.

Lovely stay in upgraded room with private terrace. Very welcoming staff. Nice indoor and outdoor pools and beautiful gardens.
4.2
A disappointing overnight stay. An amazing setting but our room was tatty / quirky. It smelt damp and the bathroom was impractical. After using the shower the whole room was flooded. Food was okay but expensive and the service was lacking. We won't be returning.
4.2
Wonderful staff trying really hard except for the lady at checkout who did not even ask how our stay was. So great staff but a sad sad hotel overdue for refurbishment (by a decade). Hotel vastly overpriced ......about 50% of what we paid would be OK. Cuisine is fairly good but dessert is clearly by a cook not a patissier. NOT a four star hotel........not even a pen and paper in the room to fill in the breakfast form (compulsory) to save cost. A bit like everything in this hotel. An injection of energy and investment in this place could make it so good......

The hotel is on a picturesque island in the middle of the river Risle. There is a large industrial area just the other side of the river, but it's hardly noticeable as the gardens have got large trees all around the waters edge.
Very pretty and original building inside, and also in a pretty good state of repair.
Half board dinners were really good (4 courses). Drinks a bit expensive however, but I guess that's expected from a hotel. Grand piano made a really good atmosphere when one of the guests played it. Shame there's no resident player to play during dinner!
Room 6 was one of the only standard rooms with a balcony - very pleasant.
Outdoor pool could do with a cover and being netted more often, as it was full of leaves (so we didn't swim in it). Indoor pool all fine but not big enough to actually do any meaningful swimming.
Staff all very friendly and helpful.
Pont Audemer a pretty enough town. Worth going to the market on Monday mornings.
All in all a very pleasant stay. At the price we paid for room+half board we were very happy.

Our room was luxurious and the balcony overlooked beautiful gardens next to the river.Dinner was served on formal surroundings and was delicious.Breakfast also was first class.A great experience

The hotel is in a lovely location and the staff are friendly. However, there are touches missing which I would overlook at a cheaper hotel. The meal was excellent but my blue fillet was served rare, the wine wasn't decanted, we were not offered bread or serviettes until we asked for them. Lots of niggles but on the plus side, the heated indoor pool was lovely. The outdoor pool too although the entrance was via the breakfast room! Not fun in your robe! We were upgraded for free because the 3rd floor rooms were too hot but our upgraded room was in a complex a little way outside the hotel. As I say - lovely but for that price I want more. And I don't want breakfast to cost €18 either!!
