Not sure where the bad reviews come from, booked this hotel for a family of five, it's a budget hotel, which does exactly what it's designed for, gave our family a comfortable room for the night in central London at a reasonable price in a good location

A room with a view....2 mins walk from Paddington....and quiet!

There are several hotels in the same building, I tried staying at other hotels, but Dolphin Inn was the best.
3.5
Breakfast available does not mean breakfast included, however, overall the breakfast was cheaper than all my other hotel reservation breakfasts. Also there was only one fan available, otherwise it was perfect. Great stay.

Our room was supposed to have a bunk bed. It had 2 twin beds pushed together and above those was a double bed that was hanging from the ceiling. It was accessible by rungs attached to the wall. The bed was not made when we got there and even though we had daily housekeeping, the top bed was never made. I don’t blame staff as I imagine it to be a nightmare to try and climb up and make the bed.
Another disappointment I experienced was that I realized after an 5.30 am check out that I left my wedding ring and earrings in the room. I emailed the hotel immediately as we were travelling by train. I described where I left the jewelry only to be told they didn’t find it.

Excellent stay, the mattress could be better. Overall we have a very good experience. We will come back for sure!

check-in and check out is hassle-free.

I loved this hotel since the staff were really friendly and helpful. The room was very comfortable and the area was safe and nice. Would definitely recommend.

Very convenient for Paddington station and the staff I spoke to were helpful and friendly.
However, I booked a twin room (single occupancy) and ended up in a 5 bed dormitory that heavily smelled of smoke. I was the only person in the room but it wasn’t what I was expecting. The room was also up 4 flights of narrow stairs with no lift, which I’m sure is fine if you are a lot fitter than I am with a lot less luggage

Lovely place for the night. Great breakfast, tv working and warm room. Zoe on reception a great help too. Will be returning!

I will start with the positive bits - the bedding was clean. The lights worked. The heating worked.
I found the reception staff to be generally unhelpful and not friendly.
I thought I had booked the hotel but noticed my booking changed to the inn which is just down the road. This was not explained at any point and the only communication I had was a day before arrival, I couldn’t get a booking confirmation out of them.
My room was dirty, the walls were really bad, awful smell in the room and worse in the bathroom like drains.
At several points in the night people were trying to access my room and one female who continuously tried to open using a key card and calling for me to open the door without any further explanation (I did not).
For the latter reason I checked out after the first night, I could not face another night there.
I get that you get what you pay for but this was really, really poor.
Reviews are hit and miss, I guess some experience better than others. I’ve stayed in a few hotels in this area around the same budget which are far better.

I can hear the water dripping every time the upper floor room flushes the toilet.

Everything you need for a short stay in London. We were that impressed with the property and location that we plan to stay again in August.

Myself and 3 other friends all in our 40,s stayed here in a room that slept 4. 2 bunk beds for bst at Hyde park. We couldn’t find anything near by that was affordable and thought this might be okay. I was dreading it as I imagined it to be awful tbh but I was thankfully surprised! We got off at Paddington’s station it was a few minutes walk away, reception was clean , quick and friendly. Then a very very nice man who worked there offered to carry as many bags to our room. The rooms are spot over a separate building which was fine. The room itself was very clean and surprisingly had a shower and toilet as well as a fridge freezer and kettle. Beds were not the best I’ve ever slept in but where clean! I didn’t sleep very well as it was so hot so had the window open which then brought in some noise but there was a fan in the room which I didn’t use as I didn’t want to disturb my friends who all slept pretty well.
If you want a budget hotel that’s clean and safe. Book here !

Bare bones property that served our purpose but would not have been comfortable for more than one night. Good on that it had several beds for our family of five on our short overnight stay. But our room on the 4th floor was warm even with the window open all night and temps in the 50’s. Plus, the sun comes up at 4:45 am, so an open window made sleeping difficult. Also to note that water is not drinkable.

I was bummed I got a single private room with bunk beds. I was looking forward to just a normal bed I could sit on. Also, if you e been traveling with lots of luggage beware if you’re on the upper floors. The stairs get steep- not a complaint just something to note. It was a decent stay for them time I was there.
3.5
Our room had a broken fan and didn’t get one the whole time we were there and we asked multiple times. No air circulation, there were mice and spiders in the room. People in other rooms were smoking so we could smell it, the shower wouldn’t drain, dirty place.

This is a nice little hotel in a great convenient area. Close to Paddington Station. Many options to eat.
Staff is friendly, Theo welcomed us and was very friendly. Some details of the hotel and room are dated but overall a great experience. Later this week we will be heading there for an additional 2 days.

It was nice experience. For a famil of 4 with all twin beds was lil small but fine. Small bathroom to navigate. Food was good

Great place to stay!!
3.5
It was fine. Great location but extremely small room and a smaller bathroom.
3.5
It was good for the money

Unhelpful man on reception. Broken door lock, was told to ring him every time we went out so he could look after our belongs ( ridiculous). Left and booked somewhere else. Refused any sort of refund.

I spent 3 nights. There was a middle school group of 50 kids. They were loud but the staff found us a room on another floor which was an upgrade and improved our stay.
Location is great on a quiet street a short walk from Paddington Station.
The rooms are well equipped with fridge and kettle. The included breakfast is basic, but good and I considered it an unexpected bonus value at the reasonable price of the room. The staff was very accommodating to all requests.
Rooms show some wear, but clean and nice linens. I'd stay again.

There is a sign next to the bathroom sinks telling guests that the water is not potable. When I asked at the desk if they could fill my water bottle from their kitchen (where they serve breakfast, so surely their water is drinkable) they refused. You either have to buy water from their vending machine or walk to the bodega nearby to buy water to drink/brush teeth. Mind you, that was an additional trip up four flights of stairs with no elevator for us.
3.5
All staff was very kind and helpful. Facilities were clean and close to public transportation.
3.5
It’s close to the restaurants and buses but no elevator and air conditioning.

Asked for single got a large bunkbed room which was fine, clean, warm etc
3.5
Very close to paddington train station and underground. Busstop nearby to oxford street, st. Pancras/euston train station. Sainsbury in st. Pancras station and tesco express about 5min walk. Room cleaned everyday. Towels included. Could leave the luggages at reception after check out. Will def. stay there again next time we visit london.

nice. Clean room. Spotless shower and toilet
3.5
Clean functional room as reflected in price literally an overnight stay .

I was given a tiny room located just off one of the landings halfway between 2nd and 3rd floors. I wasn’t expecting much but the room was no bigger than a broom cupboard with a tiny single bed pushed up against the wall and nothing else. Window frame was rotten and the cold draft coming in made the room unbearably cold - tiny panel heater on the wall wasn’t working and it was freezing cold. I left at around 9pm and went to stay somewhere else. Would never stay here again.
3.5
Evalina and Natasha were lovely on reception and both helped a lot. Apart from that the beds were not that good and I kept hitting my head on the top bunk. The tv did not work in the room
3.5
Not very pleasant. I booked a single room but was given a 6-man dormitory. Ok, i was the only person in it but it wasn't very nice. And there was either scolding hot water or none, and the tv didn't work.
3.5
Booked a single room, got given a 4bunk bed hostel room. Served a purpose of bed and shower. Little bit noisy, not sure if there's an underground below or something.
3.5
Basic amenities. Very poor soundproofing.
Can get really noisy at night.
