About this house rental
Settle in amongst the trees in this beautifully designed Tudor-inspired "Treehouse". Tucked away from the street, this home offers tranquility and privacy while being only a short walk to the Downtown Pedestrian Mall and a moment's drive to the highway for easy access to wineries, breweries, and more. Please read our accessibility note below to ensure this home is a good fit for your party.
The front door welcomes you into an initial transition space to drop your bags and decompress after a day of activities. As you move further into the home, you'll enter the open living space full of natural light from the large windows overlooking the front hillside. The family room features original woodwork and connects directly to the dining room with built-in nook, perfect for reading or sipping morning coffee. Off the dining room is the full kitchen with access to the outdoor patio complete with fire-pit and multiple seating arrangements. The pull-out sofa in the transition space offers flexible sleeping arrangements for guests. There is also a full bath on this first level with the original, spa-like clawfoot tub. Up the stairs, you'll find the primary King bedroom and 2 Queen bedrooms as well as the second full bathroom. This upper level also provides 2 decks: 1. a small balcony with seating located across from the full bathroom and 2. a decked area located off one of Queen bedrooms that leads to the upper grassy lawn and parking area. North Downtown Maple is ready to invite you into its comfortable, transitional style for the perfect weekend getaway!
** ACCESSIBILITY NOTE** There are a significant number of stairs required to access this home (approx 40 stairs up from the street and 25 stairs down from the alley). Primary parking for this home is street-parking on Nelson Drive or McIntire Road. There is ample parking available on both of these roads, no permit required. There is also an inconsistently maintained, dead-end, gravel alley that runs along the hill behind the home. There are 1-2 parking spaces for this home accessed via the alley that guests may utilize especially for loading/unloading luggage. We do not recommend bringing vehicles that are low to the ground or over-sized through the alley as there are some moderately challenging road conditions for low vehicles (roots and rain washout) and it can be difficult to get over-sized vehicles turned around in the alley.

We had a great stay here while in Charlottesville! It is super convenient to downtown and we walked for coffee in the morning and dinners in the evening. The house is great with tons of character and the beds and bedrooms were very comfortable. The internet and other facilities were great. Would highly recommend.

Good location for graduation events. Parks nearby. Front lock didn’t work at first but property management was very prompt in responding.

We loved the fireplace and the cozy feel of the home. Great place to rest our heads as we were visiting VA family and the sites nearby (Monticello, Montpelier, etc). Thank you home owners!

The house was well-suited for our female get-away. Rooms were clean and simply, but well appointed. There is a helpful house booklet indicating how to use fireplace, TV, (there are two) restaurant recommendations, etc. The property is located within 1/4 mile of a few shops and an independently owned coffee/bake shop and an easy drive the historic district and shopping centers. Most wineries are about a thirty minute drive.

Convenient to a lot that Charlottesville has to offer! We had a great stay.

Beds were very comfortable, each mattress had a bed-bug protector which was very good! House is on a hill, and there are quite a bit of stairs from the street parking, so you’ll get a a little workout. Showers were nice and updated with good, warm water. The TV had lots of options to watch stuff. Great communication between host too! And the checkout was nice and easy as well!

The house was very clean, great location! Things were new and updated. The only thing to change is the bed pillows, they were really bad. They were not sleeping pillows. The bed's and linen's were fine. I would stay there again.

The property was very spacious. The check in/check out instructions were very easy to follow and the amenities in the house were very modern. The price was reasonable and the location was a 15 minute walk to the downtown mall.

This was a great place for three couples to stay in while we were in Charlottesville for a wedding. We were very comfortable here and felt like we were at home away from home. We visited Monticello, the university campus and enjoyed breweries and wineries too. The only small challenge was navigating the stairs with no railings. This was especially hard for our parents in their 80’s. We loved the outside space so much for morning coffee and evening gatherings. We would come again if we are ever in the area,

We thoroughly enjoyed the house. We were challenged by all of the stairs to get to the house both from the front and the back. My daughter was in a boot with a foot injury and I actually fell and injured myself. Other than that the house is fantastic!

While this house isn’t much to look at from the outside, the inside is beautiful. It’s updated, well kept and a great location!
The only complaints that we had was the lack of blinds on the first floor and the heating unit inside the front door, where the pull out couch is, would not turn off.
As a group of women it would have been nice to close blinds at night and not felt like we were being watched by anyone that walked by outside. Particularly if you count the day bed or pull out couch as a sleeping arrangement then there should be some sort of curtains to allow for privacy.
Then the floor heating unit not turning off posed a problem because even with the air sitting at 68 (or whatever the lowest the host preferred it not go below) the house stayed warm without the windows open. So this either needs to be fixed or details on how to shut it off if there’s some sort of trick.
Though the stairs to get to the house didn’t pose a problem for our group, if anyone in a future group doesn’t handle stairs well this wouldn’t be the place for them to stay.
With that said, this home is beautiful and we’d definitely stay again if we came to Charlottesville!

The house is lovely. It’s clean, quiet, and in a wonderful location. We had a great time there and hopefully will be back.

Very nice property and we enjoyed our stay for some spring cycling in the area. Not far to beautiful rural riding and convenient to the CVille mall for post ride libations and dinners. The adequately equipped kitchen let us do some fine meals at the house too. Nice patio with fireside chats and drinks around the solostove. Laundry was a bonus.
Beds and linens were excellent.

Quaint property, not meant for those who don't like steps. This is situated on a steep hill so access is a little wonky. The house itself is old but very very clean.

We absolutely LOVED this adorable house! It was spotless, conveniently located, and beautifully appointed. The bedrooms are very spacious and the memory foam beds were extremely comfortable (we slept like the dead.) We could have easily walked to and from the downtown mall, but we chose to drive because it was cold and the parking garages are inexpensive (on-street parking is free if you can find it!). We chose to navigate the narrow alley and park behind the house, but there was ample street parking in front of the house if you drive anything bigger than a Subaru Outback. The only (minor) suggestion I would make is maybe adding a few more motion-activated landscape lights on the steps from the parking spaces to the house as it’s a bit difficult to see where you’re stepping in the section without them at night. Thank you so much for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home!
