We had a lovely overnight stay ay Candlesticks .Our host was super nice, the room was warm and the bed was very comfortable. Beautiful town, will visit and stay at Candlesticks again

I have seen many good reviews for this hotel and frankly only a few bad ones. However, I feel like the bad ones are related to a particular room (no2). We had this room and it really was very poor. No complaints on cleanliness but it was tiny and only a narrow gap to get to the bathroom. The bathroom had a bath but no shower, and took a long time to get to a reasonable depth. Just had to wash in the morning as running a bath would take too long. There wasn't anywhere to put clothes as it seems like the old wardrobe is used as a mini mini kitchenette for the breakfast stuff. Totally bizarre and frankly not really worth doing as anyone booking thinking they are getting breakfast will probably be very disappointed. I really am not sure if this breakfast provision applies to all rooms as no one really mentions it. The tiny room could also really do with decorating and the bathroom definitely needs updating.

Mine Host was charming and polite and nothing was to much trouble. The room was very comfortable. However, there was no water pressure at all to get the shower to work. Only 3 other people in the hotel (as far as I could tell) and early so didn't think there was a rush on water useage. Breakfast was self service in a cupboard in the room, but generated a load of plastic / rubbish which all went into the same bin.

Candlesticks is 4old houses converted into a hotel and restaurant so the layout is nicely quirky and charming. A far cry from all those sterile modern places which all look the same. I liked the room which was equipped with a kettle, toaster, a small fridge and plenty of stuff to make my own breakfast and a bottle of fresh milk 😁. As I had to be at work at 7.0 am this was much appreciated as I often do not get breakfast as so many places don’t serve it till 7.30 or 8.00! Free parking directly outside abd fast free WiFi. They were very friendly abd helpful and my room was serviced and restocked each day which many hotels don’t do post Covid Had dinner in the restaurant which was excellent and not expensive. Overall an excellent stay in my opinion. If you want shiny modern and impersonal it might not be to your taste but I reckon it was an excellent place to stay. I just hope I get another job in Stamford.

The manager was so helpful. The room was so well supplied.I even had fresh milk, bread, butter, jams and other assorted breakfast items.Even a small toaster was supplied. The bed was so comfortable. It must be memory foam.Sheets and cover were spotless. I will definitely go back and bring the family.

Warm welcome and showed to room where breakfast 'in room' facility was explained. This was a little quirky but worked well for us. I had read that there were many stairs so that wasn't a surprise however their was no shower attachment over bath which made washing hair/showering impossible. I may not have the read the room description correctly but come to expect that nowadays Overall a good stay and would return and try out the restaurant which is not open Mondays.

Excellent location close to town centre in an old building in a quiet area. Room 6 was at the top of narrow stairs and rather small but comfortable. Large bathroom BUT poor hot water pressure (useless shower needs specific shower unit). Main oddity, was that breakfast was provided in a cupboard in the room (everything provided but only one chair in room so breakfast was literally "in bed"). This was a shame as there appeared to be a nice restaurant in the basement of the building.

The rooms come with the charm of an old building, so you will have improvise a little. But possible disappointment by entering the premises is immediately forgotten after meeting with the owner/hotelmanager and tasting the food he serves. He really cares about people and makes you soon feel at home. Value for price too!

We had a pleasant one night stay at Candlesticks. Very friendly service, and good parking. We were too tired from our travels to explore restaurants, so we enjoyed the breakfast foods placed in the fridge.

This is a small hotel/restaurant with basic facilities, but a lot cheaper than some of the other options in Stamford. A basic continental breakfast stored in your room fridge is included.

We loved our stay comfortable ensuite room in historic building, we enjoyed a drink at bar had lovely chat with owner, nice continental breakfast in our room, easy parking close to town highly recommended.

We liked everything about our room and the hotel. Getting in was a bit difficult but once sorted - excellent. Very friendly and helpful and kind man who let us in and showed us to the room. My only quibble is with the shower: without doubt the most feeble shower facility ever! It took well over 5 minutes to get hot water: I never used the cold tap at all! Disappointing Everything else - wonderful! Thank you! M. Mackenzie. We hope to come again.

Property in oldest part of Stamford, right in the centre of town. Very quirky. Lots of stairs. Small twin room, but had all the amenities including fridge and kettle for breakfast. Good for our overnight stay.

Very welcoming and friendly host. Clean room, comfy bed, diy breakfast in room (toast/cereal/yogurt/tea/coffee/juice) which suited us fine. Quiet location on edge of town. Stamford is a beautiful town to explore on foot. We stayed for one night whilst attending a nearby sports event. Would happily stay here again.

Stayed for a four day break. Ideally situated for public transport. Train station a five minute walk away, bus station approx 10 minutes via the common. Very quiet location. Excellent host. Didn't eat in restaurant but menu looked good. Lovely market town with plenty of restaurants and bars. Would definitely stop at Candlesticks again.
