The beds were really really comfy , the room had 2 double beds in
Room needs new windows , they wouldn’t shut properly so u could hear the traffic from the A1 all night long . Even with ear defenders inserted into ears u could still hear the traffic
3.4
Very old and lots of character
Side lights needed to be brighter.
Needs a bit of TLC

Ideal location by the A1 for easy travel, very clean & friendly + a lovely breakfast.
Would have been nice to have WiFi.

Large spacious double room and bathroom in a lovely old house. I was working at Burghley for the weekend and left before breakfast so can't comment on that, but the hosts were delightful.
It's not a modern hotel so don't expect all the mod cons, but has everything anyone should need. The 'mini bar' is actually full size bottles of wine, beer and soft drinks! My dog was also allowed. I liked it for my 4 night stay and would certainly stay there again.
Being on the A1, the traffic can be heard. Certainly from a front room like mine. But, it's not overly loud and becomes background noise very quickly. I did not find it an issue at all (and it wouldn't put me off returning), but some people may so thought I ought to mention it.

Very pleasant hosts who tried hard to make us welcome.
Breakfast was speedy, substantial and pleasantly presented.
Proximity to the A1 (not evident from advertisement) meant considerable overnight noise.
Rooms didn't suggest total cleanliness, and one or two domestic matters needed improvement. Quality of TV poor.

Value for money.
Great breakfast
Great staff/ hosts!
Convenient access, ample parking.
Traffic noise, but understandable due to location.

Fantastic find - interesting location - not out of our way.
Breakfast was just right.
Finding out that it may be demolished due to road widening.

Lovely charming old building with loads of character. The owners were very friendly and helpful. It is an old building though and so if you want all modern fixtures and fittings with staff in bright smart uniforms, probably best you go to a Premier Inn! It was clean with wonderful if a bit strange furniture but absolutely delightful.
Quite a lot of noise from the main road (A1) but without double glazing that is to be expected.

Really helpful owners. Clean and good value.
Nothing. It was just as we expected and everything we needed.Roy was so helpful.
3.4
The cottage was lovely and spacious, breakfast was really nice, staff extremely accommodating and helpful

The hosts Roy and Carol were just delightful. Nothing was too much trouble. The property is stunning with alot of interesting history. The breakfast was very plentiful and delicious with great table service.
Had a few problems getting the TV to work but it did intermittently but we weren't that bothered as had plans for diner already arranged. Had my laptop with me anyway. Mini-bar wasn't quite what one would expect but, again, not bothered about that.
3.4
The location was ideal for where I had to travel to.
Traffic noise, but it is a busy road.
The toilet wasn't clean and had toilet paper from the previous guest.
3.4
Host was very friendly. Breakfast was great. Room was large and comfortable.
Room was a bit cold. There was a freestanding heater, but we didn't feel comfortable leaving it on when unattended.
3.4
Convenient location
Dirty, cold, damp.
Too cold to get good night's sleep as only 2 of the radiators were working.
3.4
Staff -superb, friendly caring. Rooms, spacious and comfortable. Breakfast - food and service excellent, could not be better
It is close to a main road (A1) so some rooms noisy till late night. Light sleepers should bring ear plugs. Having said that, all four of us, staying three nights, managed to get good sleeps

Room was freezing on arrival, radiators off and only one small electric heater for what is a large room. Beds were hard and very uncomfortable
