A neat boutique type hotel.
I have stayed a couple times here for business.
Breakfast is highly recommended.
They have a full restaurant / bar.
rooms are clean, and comfortable.

Good service. Asked for a quite room as it was weekend and anticipated noisy wedding parties, and the gave us a well away from the function rooms. Much appreciated.

I checked in here on 28th October. i was not greeted by what could only be described a rude, non engaging reception you girl. This must be the 1st time a hotel front of house staff member did not speak to me or offer a welcome, just a cant be arsed stare instead. I was not asked if i wanted to eat in the bar / dining room, i was not offered breakfast or if i would like to open a tab. Simply unbelievable!
Tankersley is a stunning building, but that is where it stops. Unfortunately, like many hotels, it is in need of a full renovation, its very 80's. however, the rooms are spacious and clean.
Staff at breakfast were fantastic, from the greeting to register your room to the kitchen staff keeping the plenty of choice well stocked up.

Our room was towards the back of the building, so nice and quiet away from the wedding celebrations. The room was clean and comfortable, but very hot even with the window open, so that made sleep difficult. We had a lovely meal in the brasserie in the evening and breakfast was good (self service.)

Porridge made to order at breakfast. Nice old building with character. Wish the pool was larger !

Ok
Prices for drinks expensive so we ate at another restaurant

Another excellent stay. Food was good - breakfast particularly and dinner had great options - well cooked. Room again was spotless and everything worked perfectly. Will definitely be staying when next in the area.

It's shocking for disabled and elderly outside paths are very uneven and parking not great only one parking for disabled.thr walk in shower in the room was ideal but the chair and settee in the room were very dirty.the beds were very comfy though.but the constant humming noise all night long outside was not great so sleepless night..drove home tired not refreshed..won't stay again..

Hotel accommodation comfortable and clean. Did have to wait with two others for 10 minutes at reception to check in as no one around.
Restaurant good except I ordered confit of duck with a chorizo and butter bean stew. When it arrived, there were no butter beans but baby potatoes. When I told the waitress, she seemed puzzled by what I told her. Eventually she said she would tell the chef…. Not a big issue but the restaurant team should know from the kitchen what is available or what substitutes are in place.

Service from the staff was fantastic. We primarily booked this hotel as it claimed it was dog friendly, it really didn't disappoint for this as our dog was very much welcomed and was allowed anywhere in the hotel. They even had a separate dining area for people with dogs.

I stayed in room 65. It was quiet and located at the back of the hotel, where I could park close. I ate with family in the rsstaurant, which was really clean and nice, with good food. A variety of pub classics and Asian fusion.

Our stay was very good, excellent breakfast with plenty of choices. But due to the hot weather the fan in the room was just not enough, had trouble sleeping. Eco-friendly toiletries were excellent, room could do with a little bit of updating, all in all we had a nice time. Could use the pool, gym and jacuzzi for free but you could also pay for a spa treatment. As we were in the annex part of the hotel there were 50 stairs down for breakfast and 50 back to your room. You can have evening meal room service for only £5 extras. Would stay again but try to get a room nearer the restaurant.

Stayed for 2 nights whilst in the area on business.
Comfy rooms, well equipped gym facility, reasonably priced good quality food.

The hotel is beautiful, but the food was awful. We couldn’t eat it as one meal was far too salty and the other was microwaved too much, both inedible. We complained and the manager was quick to rectify the problem. The en-suites could be more eco friendly by having a card, as most hotels do now, saying please reuse towels if possible, leaving those you want replaced on the floor.

Lovely room with period features. Room located close to outside seating and above bar/ restaurant area. Night/ sleep disturbed due to loud talking from those accessing the outside seating area till after 1230am

Business stop over.
Food expensive for frozen calamari, chicken salad £18 for a very dry piece of chicken £13.00 for a large glass of wine! London prices in Barnsley!

Wonderful building! Small, but nice room. Bathroom was new and clean - small, but well organized.
Bed was okay, but not great. No Air Conditioning.

Overall happy with the stay. Friendly and helpful staff. Meal portions generous. Room size large in comparison to most hotels. Downsides fairly remote location, no air con in room and room 132 has continual background noise from ? Spa vents which the room is above, but would visit again.

Comfortable hotel with spa and pool , bar and brasserie style restaurant

No spa environment. Spa had lots of children which took away the reason for our stay.

It’s fine, but the decor is VERY outdated and old and it’s very overpriced

Room was a little warm but otherwise it was a beautiful sized room! And fab working tv. Shower fab too although the shower gel was empty.
Dog was happy in the room too and absolutely loved the ball and treats you gave her on arrival!

Joelle who met me at reception was great. She got me checked into a room before the usual check in time as I had an event to get ready for.
The room was clean and the bed comfy.
Breakfast was ok, the usual UK offering of a full English set out on the hot plate. Sausages weren’t great quality and the scrambled eggs had separated- I wish all eggs could be cooked to order (not just here) and that means on busy mornings having the kitchen resource.
The spa was nice but quite small so I can see how this could be too busy if there were a number of groups.
While the hotel was on the side of a busy road it wasn’t noisy and I didn’t hear traffic in my room even though I overlooked the road. It was in a really good location, very easy to find.

Enjoyed the facilities but room probably not up to new Premier Inn standards. Leisure facilities were good though steam room was out of order, some locals not expecting it to be repaired any time soon.
Restaurant choice and food more than acceptable. All in all a reasonable choice if need to be in this part of the country.

I liked the room. I enjoyed the swimming pool, steam room etc. The restaurant offered a great selection of foods, with Western and Asian fusion cuisine. The breakfast was also decent.
However, my room (room 105) was near a generator or something that kept coming on in two minute intervals and I couldnt sleep. I ended up asking them if there was anything they could do about it so they gave me another room (room 50), which wasnt as good as my previous room I had but at least it was quiet.
I would stay again but be very careful on the room you get.

Very good. Only problem was restaurant closed for 1 week due to work being done, and hotel using conference room which had no ambiance.
