Mvuvi's location and staff are great. It's a cosy lodge and well equipped with a bar, restaurant, and pool on the premises. The budget room was small but fairly comfortable.
Unfortunately, we had a difficult experience. Mvuvi operates a bar, which is nice, but they kept it open playing loud music until after 1:30am on a Sunday night (after we had repeatedly asked for the music to be turned down). The physical layout is compact, with rooms only 10-15 meters from the bar and their doors facing it directly. It was impossible to sleep, and the bar patrons were not staying at the hotel, but rather attendees. The staff member running the bar tried to help, but he also couldn't get them to quiet down until very late. The budget room was also a little musty and could have been improved with better ventilation!
Mvuvi has a nice layout and welcoming people, but management needs to consider the sleeping guests as well as the bar profits. It has a lot of potential and I hope they can solve this hopefully infrequent issue and be a great place to stay. All the best.

Everything was perfect. The staff were amazing, food was great and the manager Justin was a lovely guy and really helpful. If I ever go back to Watamu I will definitely stay at Mvuvi Lodge.
There was nothing I didn't like.

Perfect location close to the beach, walking distance, and the comfortable atmosphere. Perfect place for a couple who want to relax and not be disturbed. Great breakfast.
There’s just something about the place. Even if the bed sucked, we didn’t want to complain.

The breakfast by self selection was very good and plentiful. The shower provided hot water within seconds. Altogether, with the friendliness of the staff, I experienced a feel-good atmosphere.

This place is simply amazing!! Although it is a small lodge, it is a very nice building and it has anything you need.
The staff organises a lot of trips (we went with the boat at sunset in Mida Creek: we strongly recommend it!).
We felt like home thanks to the owner (Justin) and to all the Staff 😃

Loved the pool, the intimate setting, how responsive and helpful the staff were and the easy, quiet atmosphere
Bathroom could have been nicer, a can of mosquito spray would have been helpful as there were quite a few in the room and bathroom.

Location is a few minutes walk from the public beach and hotels or activity centres offereing a full range of water sports.
Staff were very attentive and respnsxive, and the atmosphere was tranquil and relaxing (once they changed the music) which is just what is wanted from a Beach stay.
Although realtively basic, the rooms were clean and functional and kept at a good standard with a small verandah on which to relax.
The pool is perfect to cool off and relax.
The menu was sufficient to cater for all tastes, with breakfast being particularly good. All of the food was well cooked, with ample portions.
We used the shuttle service from Mombassa airport, this was very efficient and good value (only slightly more expensive that what could have been arrange from an office in the town) and very convenient.
More cramped than expected, with pool view rooms feeling that they lacked privacy due to proximity. The top floor rooms were better from that respect (where our children were).
Bit disappointed that there was no special dishes or any acknowledgemnt of Christmas day.
Even on Christmas eve they were varnishing some of the furniture an verandha's which, due to smell, is rather obtrusive. When paying a premium because it is high season, this did strike us as odd.
Music was played incessantly during the day, which may or may not be to your liking. We were obliged to ask them to turn it off once or twice, although they wouldn't, they did change the playlist.
I'm not sure that the price we were quoted for an activity (paddle boarding) was what we were charged on the final bill, or that certain extras within the activity were not made entirely clear. - My advice would be to get the quote for the full activity, including any guides, transport etc in writing.

Peaceful place, very green and nice pool area. Good breakfast, nice staff. Only short walk from the beach at Ocean Sports. Well located to reach other places in Watamu by boda/car.
The room was quite dark and not very spacious, but that's okay since we didn't spend much time indoors.

Excellent stay! The owner and staff were extremely welcoming and kind. I was there with my two daughters and it felt like being home away from home. The food - all home made - was very tasty, charming rooms, nice bar and swimming pool. Close to the beach, intimate and calm. Real value for money!!!

Nice small place for some quiet relaxation time. Pool is lovely, breakfast is great and the staff is amazing.
Our room was not ventilated very well so it stayed quite humid inside. It did not smell so fresh when entering.

Mvuvi lodge is locally owned small and cozy lodge, a little bit outside of Watamu village centre, a couple of hundred metres from the beach. The staff is an absolute gem, very friendly and helpful. They really make you feel at home. The lodge rooms are simple but stylish and very clean. There's a beautiful garden, pool and lounge area with a bar and restaurant onsite. The grilled kingfish was delicious amd beers were cold. If you are looking for a small and personalised place instead of resorts, look no further. It is easy to get a ride to the more touristy parts of the beach, or you can walk 5 km along the white sand. The locals are friendly and they will come to talk to you and try to sell tours etc. Just listen to what is on offer and then decide if you're interested or not. People are just trying to do their job.
The beach access is a bit tricky, you have to find the path, but it's within walking distance. Other option is to take a motorbike taxi (boda) or tuktuk to Barada beach where most tourists gather.

The staff were extremely friendly just to mention a few Renson, Fatima, Saidi (he's so jovial it was a pleasure interacting with him), the lady who cleaned our room (apologies we forgot to get her name) she did such a beautiful room set up for us and the entire staff really. It was also great to meet Justin and Ceci who've put in a lot to make sure the place stays a gem! We also loved the proximity to the beach and the exclusivity/privacy.

When we arrived, we realised the location is really good and so is the Lodge! Its pretty, white and blue with great aesthetics. The room was quite spacious, bathroom was beautiful. Overall a very nice clean place to stay. What I found really disappointing was the food. We had not opted for breakfast (think it was 10$ PP) so we decided to pay for breakfast and we instantly regretted it. I would have given this property 9/10 if I had not had that breakfast here. They gave us half a slice of bed topped with avocados and a single pancake with no syrup and it costed us almost 15$. Across the street is Hemingways, a luxury resort where I paid a little more than what I paid at Mvuvi and had a big hearty meal enjoying the view of the sea. I would recommend not eating here. The lodge a short walk to the beach but the beach was not very nice at this time of the year, full of sea weeds but we did do a boat ride and a snorkel trip for which the starting point was quite close to the Lodge.
Staff attitude - Not friendly/warm/helpful.
Food -Need to really improve in quality, portions.

The location and the facility is pretty great and well kept
The breakfast. I think much can be done to improve it. Not enough is provided and the ticking makes it feel like asking for more is strictly not allowed.

Very nice place. Felt like home.

Very relaxed place to chill at the pool and in the hammock
Value for money is an issue: it’s even cheaper to dine at the superior Ocean Sports Hotel at the beach. And for a 10$ breakfast I wouldn’t expect to get the cheapest available tea bags

Very nice people and good opportunities for kite surfing, SUP, etc. Also the food was a bit expensive, but excellent.
In general a very good quality for an very OK price
Only the bathroom smelled a little bit, beside that everything very fine
