When staying at this property you have remember that it is an old building, therefore all noises travel easily, insects and other outside elements frequently make their way inside. The space is ideal for one or two people but do not expect to be able to stay in and cook, the kitchen lacks a useable amount of cookware. Watch your head! The ceilings and doorframes are low.

Quaint, cozy, and comfortable apartment in historical building in Harpers Ferry in the heart of the national park. Perfect base for exploring the town and its history. Several free museums and historical sites within walking distance. Park ranger free presentations at 2:00 PM were interesting and informative. Easy access. Responsive host. Very pleased with our choice of the 1799 Inn.

Excellent location, close to everything in lower town, but at the end of road which gives privacy.

Located right in the main road of town in Harpers Ferry this lil quaint spot has all the amenities needed to make your stay enjoyable. Centrally located for both on foot and in-car activities, Harper’s Ferry is quite enchanting. Everyone there was very pleasant. If you’re looking for a very chilled and relaxing time along with good food and a big dose of history- highly recommend the location including 1799 Inn. Parking
Can be a bit of a thing but, where there’s a will there’s a way!

The unit was outfitted very nicely for the second oldest building in Harpers Ferry. We thought it was funny that there were earplugs available. Someone had complained that the trains were loud but only being there after 4 or 5PM we didn't notice very many. None woke us up(no plugs). Good location with access to trails and historic scenery. The carpet is well used and could be replaced, no biggie. Would go again. Only an hour and 25 minutes from Alexandria Va. even with the rt 340 detour for cliff repair.

The unit was clean and communication was excellent. We enjoyed the location being right in town and near the C& O trail. There was a nice area on the porch for us to store and charge our ebikes. The parking was not a problem as we had just purchased a year long National park pass which was good to park at the train station right across the street. I would mention that the ceiling is somewhat low and if you are over 6 ft tall it may feel claustrophobic. Also, if you plan on cooking, the kitchen is not that well equipped.

I stayed here while in town to visit family. I have been to the area a bunch of times and was excited to stay at one of the historical sites while in town. They provide everything you need to feel at home would stay again.

Excellent, unbeatable location as advertised. Large kitchen space.
The bedroom area of the unit is only closed off by two flimsy farm style sliding doors that don’t block sound or light. There is a conspicuously large hole in the center of the door frame for a knob, but is just an open space. This was inconvenient- if you are hoping for a little bit of privacy or even some quiet from the television in the living room you will find this unit lacking.
Sound was an issue from the pipes in the old building and the train.
A few weeks before our reservation the hosts contacted us to say that the parking space that was advertised would no longer be available. We had some exchanges about possibly them buying us a parking spot at the train station across the street, but then that didn’t work out because they found that difficult to plan in advance.
Ultimately, I paid $30 for one day of street parking, but was able to arrive on Friday night/leave Sunday AM without having to pay. The train station across the street has a full lot by 8:30 in the morning.
Curiously, there are three reserve spots for the 1799 inn. We never saw them used, or if one was used there was always one available. However, we were not given permission to park in that spot so we didn’t. But we were puzzled by the situation.
Requires guests to do dishes and organize laundry but charges a cleaning fee. A bag of trash was left outside the front door for our stay.

This was by far our best experience to date! The room was exactly as it was shown to be in pictures. The Pullman sweet was surprisingly bright considering it's located on the lower street level. The first thing we noticed was how clean the suite was, and comfortable. The property manager was extremely communicative and available for any questions we had. We were delightfully surprised to come back from enjoying a picturesque meal at one of the local restaurants, to see a ghost tour right in front of the 1799 Inn. It made the experience that much more fun. The sites and feel of Harper's Ferry make this a new favorite for us both.
