Super clean. Nice, antique furniture (uncomfortable bed though). Fantastic view. Wonderful garden. Friendly staff.
Breakfast too simple. No extra service in the hotel (no minibar, no fridge in the room, no coffee/ tea in the afternoon, no food option - the village is too small and does not have a lot of options). Hotel during the day rather dead.

El desayuno increible todo casero y la cama muy comoda
La hanitacion de la entrada se lleva el ruido de los que llegan de noche tarde pero bueno .

Very spacious, beautifully situated, the manager is wonderful and has a great knowledge about the place and the island. Comfortable bed, room has everything you need, breakfast was delicious 😋 Maia is a cool place to walk around and make sure you visit the nearby tobacco museum :)
Everything was perfect, highly recommended 😊

Lovely old Manor House with historical feel, old kitchen and chapel still there. Rooms were spacious ( rather warm at night!)
Hot at night, limited bar and no tea/ coffee provided in room- though we got kettle and asked for mugs!

Full of charm and antique history, plus natural
Beauty. Easy walk to natural pools and village.

Wonderful location in a peaceful and idilliac place. The staff was extremely helpful and welcoming, especially Rodolfo our angel who has made our stay very joyful and incredible. The ancient colonial atmosphere perfectly matches with all the comforts and services. A perfect spot for couples, families and small groups. Definitely recommended.

An interesting historic property.
The ladies who prepared breakfast and worked at the bar were very nice and helpful.
It didn’t reach the standards we were hoping for. The bar area, dining room and games room were gloomy and in need of updating. There was no list of what was available from the bar or indication of price. Lack of communication about breakfast - we didn’t realise eggs were an option until we saw someone else with them. A lovely terrace which could be improved with better furniture, pots of colourful plants and imaginative lighting for the evening. The furniture in the pool area needs improvement and the gardens looked rather neglected. The manager did his job but could have been more pro-active.

I recently had an amazing time at Solar de Lalem! The historic estate transported me back to the 18th century, and I felt like I was part of the rich history of the island while staying in the villa. The lovely new Dutch couple managers made my stay even better with their warm hospitality, from offering fresh-baked croissants in the morning to always being nearby to give me tips on the island or recommend an Azorean wine to try. The nearby hiking trails in Maia are definitely worth a visit, offering stunning views of the coast and the black sand beach, which added to the overall experience.
If you are considering a stay at Solar de Lalem, I highly recommend springing for the main house rooms if they are available. While the villa was lovely, the main house offers even more history and character, with stunning views of the surrounding landscape. Overall, it was an unforgettable experience, and I can't wait to return. Thank you, Solar de Lalem!
That I could not stay longer. Will be back for that sometime soon. There's so much to do on the island and I barely scratched the surface.
