This house is beautiful, but is not maintained well. Outside looks rundown
Patio furniture was broken and dirty. The dryer did not work on our arrival, nut the owner was able to quickly get it repairedLm.mm

We had a great time with friends and plenty of room for all. Basics were provided and the house was nicely updated inside, beautiful antiques. Host was prompt in their responses. We had trouble with some lighting going out so had to contact them and they sent out electrician.

We had a girls weekend to celebrate my sister getting married. This house was PERFECT!! Big rooms, plenty of bathrooms and mirrors to get ready!! Perfect location and close to The Strand. Owners were easy to get a hold of. Great picture opportunities around every corner. We will definitely be back!!

My book club wanted to read a book and then travel to the city in which the book was set. Our book was Isaac’s Storm about the hurricane of 1900 that was so devastating to Galveston. Discussing the book and the storm along with watching a documentary on the storm was even more compelling in this home that was built in 1886 because we knew that it had withstood the storm.
The interior of this home is stunning, filled with beautiful antique furniture that would look huge in an ordinary house but fit perfectly in the large rooms of The Sonnenthiel Home.
The location was convenient to both the Seawall and The Strand, the beds were comfy, and the kitchen well stocked ( except for salt and pepper and dishwasher detergent.) Highly recommend, especially if you love historic homes!

As a family we’ve visited Galveston for more than 50 years and this was the first time we “lived” in one of the islands historic mansions. It was truly a great experience relaxing on the front gallery waving to neighbors, watching the littles in the front yard play lawn games. The weather couldn’t have been better and we look forward to our next stay.

The house was beautiful and loaded with history. We had a lovely birthday dinner with our closest friends, and enjoyed the beach as well as a night out on the Strand. Great weekend!

Few of the soccer families stayed here for a tournament we were having. Ten minutes from where we played and just right in the middle of wherever we needed to go. Was an amazing stay and the house was just historic and too cool. Owners were amazing and very accommodating to our every need. Thank y’all for a great time.

Sonnentheil House is simply amazing and the pictures just don't do it justice. We spent lots of time in the kitchen at the large table together while we cooked. In the evenings we enjoyed drinks and cigars on the porch, took advantage of the large propane bbq pit out back for burgers and brats. Conveniently located smack dab between the beach for daytime fun and the Strand for shopping, eats, and nightlife. Highly suggest Vargas Cut and Catch if you're looking for a night of find dining. Thank you very much for a terrific stay in Galveston TX!

Location was central to all our activities from Moody Gardens to the Strand!

We were all impressed with the property. The location is in walking distance to The Strand and Harborside. This made it a great stay as we were able to come and go as we wanted. The house is amazing. We have already booked the dates for 2024.
